To properly adjust or clean the carburetor on the tiller, a few words should first be said about its structure.

As you know, the carburetor in the tiller is a certain part of the fuel system and performs the function of spraying fuel, enriched with oxygen to the required degree. Basically, modern tillers run on a gasoline engine (although there are alternatives. Diesel and electric). Their designs are mainly of 2 types: rotary (simple in structure and designed for less powerful engines) and plunger (for tillers of higher power, multi-element).

Externally, the carburetor for the tiller looks like this:

The internal structure of a Tiller type K 45 carburetor, which runs on gasoline, schematically looks like this:

Cleaning the tiller carburetor

Instability in the operation of the tiller carburetor most often occurs due to a low fuel level in the tank, due to low-quality fuel, contamination of the filter on the fuel supply valve or clogging of the internal parts of the carburetor. To clean the tiller carburetor in order to remove debris from the filter mesh and jet, disassembly should be carried out according to the following scheme:

  • Carefully remove the carburetor and drain the fuel from the float chamber. If air does not pass through the fuel nozzle, you need to blow it through;
  • Having examined the float chamber and the float adjusting tongue, determine the level of the incoming fuel (the optimal level is usually no more than 35 mm);
  • Remove the low and maximum gas needle to clean the jet. After unscrewing the bolts, separate the upper and lower parts of the carburetor, thoroughly flush the fuel cock with gasoline;
  • Clean the jet with a stream of air using a pump. Never wipe the carburetor parts with a rag. It is necessary to assemble the carburetor only after all the parts are dry (for this, lay them out on a clean, dry surface, for example, on cardboard);
  • After assembly, make sure that the carburetor is assembled correctly, all the parts that are removed are in place, and the holes match the tubes. Only then install the carburetor back on the tiller.

In order to properly assemble the part after disassembly, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the data:

Tiller carburetor: device, cleaning and adjustment with your own hands

Many tiller owners have had to deal with carburetor-related malfunctions. How to independently understand the carburetor device and clean and adjust it, thereby not causing even more harm to the technique? We will try to tell you about this as much as possible in this article. After all, DIY repair is not only saving your money, but also a useful experience.

Tiller carburetor device

Knowledge of exactly how the carburetor for the tiller is arranged will help to independently eliminate any of its malfunctions, as well as to clean and timely adjust the standard fuel unit.

Structurally, the mechanism consists of:

  • A float that is connected to a built-in needle locking steel valve;
  • Float metal chamber with chrome-plated internal cavities;
  • An additional chamber required for mixing fuel with air;
  • A fuel distribution structure equipped with a diffuser;
  • Adjustable throttle valve;
  • Fuel and regular air pipes made of technical rubber.

Depending on the manufacturer and purpose of the tillers, their carburetors can be equipped with additional elements. But regardless of this, fuel holsters work on the same principle.

One of the most important elements of the mechanism is the float, the main function of which is initially to adjust the amount of fuel required for the tiller to work properly. The fuel itself is in the float chamber, and as soon as its volume decreases, the float opens the built-in needle valve. Through it, the missing volume of the refueled fuel enters the chamber, after which the float rises and slowly closes the valve.

The carburetor on the tiller is equipped with an outlet channel, which is located in the float chamber. For normal operation of the fuel unit, the amount of fuel in the standard float chamber must be continuously kept at a level that is several millimeters below the location of the outlet channel.

The atomizer initially plays the role of a kind of fuel distributor, which falls from the chrome float into the steel mixing chamber. The latter is needed directly to enrich the fuel with air. Pre-cleaned air flows into it through a built-in inlet.

Tillery stamps Cascade

The complete set of most of the branded models produced by the Cascade brand includes KMB-5 carburetors.

To configure this fuel assembly, you must:

  1. Drain the remaining fuel from the factory float chamber;
  2. Open the union and let the air into the fuel unit;
  3. Adjust the position of the throttle valve in such a way that a neat 2 mm gap gradually forms between it and the air duct located under the damper;
  4. Tighten the bolts responsible for adjusting the fuel supply;
  5. Start slowly turning the screws one by one until the speed of the power unit decreases;
  6. Screw the screws back in slowly one by one.

As a result, the user will achieve the elimination of failures during engine operation and reduce the consumption of fuel consumed by him.

How to adjust the carburetor on the tiller?

In the technique of different manufacturers, the adjustment of the tiller carburetor is carried out in different ways. Below we will consider how to correctly and accurately configure the fuel nodes in agricultural units of different brands.

Carburetor repair lawn mowers step by step

Very often, complaints from owners of gasoline trimmers are associated with various kinds of carburetor malfunctions. Of course, in this case, it is best to seek help from specialists in this field, for whom the repair of carburetors of gasoline trimmers is an integral part of the profession. However, if you are still familiar with the basic principles of the trimmer carburetor, you can try to figure out the problem yourself, so as not to overpay money in the service, since sometimes the breakdown can be really frivolous.

This article is just intended to help you deal with the problem.

Next, we will analyze the most common breakdowns and the reasons for their occurrence.

The first step is to generally inspect the carburetor and find out if there is a fuel leak.

If it turns out that there are no problems with the fuel, it is necessary to remove the carburetor from the engine and check the condition of the gasket located next to the carburetor.

If no malfunctions are observed here, you can try to check the carburetor for tightness.

To do this, you can purchase a special device, which is part of the tool kits for repairing the carburetor repair of lawn mowers and which is a special pressure gauge that, in fact, checks the tightness.

If you don’t want to spend money on its purchase, you can use a conventional medical tonometer, on which you just need to change the pressure gauge.

When using this device, pay attention to the indication.

If the pressure does not drop and remains the same for a long time, you can rest assured, as this indicates the tightness of the carburetor.

If the pressure begins to decrease after a certain time, then there are still problems.

They can be associated with damage to any parts of the carburetor.

Step 19

Install the carburetor cover.

Step 13

They have the ability to wear out during operation. From prolonged use, they deform, stretch, lose elasticity, poor-quality fuel corrodes them, and can no longer perform their functions well. This also applies to the needle itself. The fact is that it is covered with a thin layer of rubber, which wears out during operation and can no longer fit tightly into the hole. The lawn mower starts to work intermittently. To eliminate such a breakdown, it is necessary to replace all worn out parts. Where can I get them?

It includes two diaphragms, a gasket, a needle valve and a spring.

All wear parts of the carburetor can be replaced. Therefore, you should not rush and buy a new one, and you do not need to run to the workshop either, repairs are within the power of any lawn mower user. Professionals claim that the quality of the components in the repair kit even exceeds the characteristics of the native carburetor parts. Therefore, a well-repaired unit will perform better than a new one.

Find the highest idle speed by slowly turning the screw to the left or to the right. After finding the maximum rpm position, turn the screw counterclockwise на turn.

Note: FORTE lawn mowers are shipped from the factory with the right screw completely unscrewed (0.5 turn). At this stage, he should be looking at “11 o’clock.”

Bottom screw T. Responsible for adjusting the engine idle speed. Turning the screw counterclockwise decreases the number of revolutions. Counterclockwise. Increases.

Carburetor adjustment FORTE lawn mowers

The gasoline lawn mower has been successfully used for a long time in a variety of industries: for lawn maintenance in private plots, in housing and communal institutions, landscaping organizations, agriculture and forestry. The main competitive advantages of the products. Low maintenance costs, increased reliability and ease of use.

Engine. The most important component of any technique. And so that it always works in the optimal mode for itself, it is recommended to fine-tune the carburetor.

How to repair the carburetor of lawn mowers with your own hands and why do they recommend doing this? First of all, to make sure that the engine is working properly and that the maximum productivity of the tool is ensured 100%.

Forte Lawn Mowers Carburetor Setting:

1. Start the engine of the device and let it warm up for 10 minutes (if you observe the rotation of the cutting element at idle speed, turn the idle screw in the opposite direction, turn until the spool stops turning).

2. Gently rotate the right and left needles to the middle position. Important! Never twist the stopper. This could damage the engine).

3. There are 3 adjusting screws to adjust the carburetor:

  • Right H. Low speed screw
  • Lower T. Idle screw
  • Left L. High speed screw

Right screw H. First of all, the low speed screw is adjusted.

Correct adjustment is considered only if:
  • Cold engine at idle running stably without jerking
  • A hot engine gives out understated revolutions in idle mode
  • Sufficient headroom remains before the cutting system starts to work
  • Stable engine operation in any position

Note: From the FORTE factory, the lower screw H (idle), from a fully tightened state, was unscrewed by 8 revolutions and “2 hours” (at this stage it should be). The recommended idle speed for FORTE engines is 2900 rpm.

Left screw L. Fine adjustment of the highest idle speed.

Important! The engine of FORTE petrol lawn mowers should not run at maximum speed for more than 10 seconds.

Open the throttle, start the engine and lightly turn the screw clockwise until the engine speed decreases.

Then slowly turn the screw L in the opposite direction until the engine starts to shake.

Finally, turn the screw clockwise a short distance again until the mower engine starts to operate in the appropriate mode for itself.

Lawn mowers carburetor device

The basis of the carburetor for lawn mowers is an aluminum body. It contains a diffuser (hole with internal contours). Air is blown through this hole. The flow rate of oxygen (air) depends on the cross-section (orifice) of the diffuser.

The diffuser is equipped with fuel channels. Fuel is drawn in from them using an air stream.

Outside the carburetor is installed:

  • Fuel pump;
  • Jet system;
  • Fuel-air mixture control system;

The main problems and malfunctions of the carburetor.

Mesh filter. There are often only two problems with this element:

  1. Blockage.
  2. Breaking.

In order to find out the cause of the breakdown, the fuel filter cap is unscrewed to remove the strainer. If dirt just accumulates on it, then flushing in gasoline or blowing will help.

If there is visible damage to the mesh filter, it is imperative to install a new one. There may also be damage to the fuel supply pipe (during repair, they practice checking this element).

The carburetor starter in most cases does not function due to blockages. Use acetone or the same gasoline for flushing.

Blowing compressed air into clogged carburetor parts is an acceptable and convenient repair practice.

Do-it-yourself lawn mowers carburetor adjustment

Lawn mowers, like all gas powered garden tools, are not difficult to maintain. It is possible and necessary to repair, configure yourself. For example, adjusting the carburetor of a lawn mower with your own hands is a matter of five minutes.

A lawn mower carburetor is a unit in the power system. In it, like any carburetor, there is a process of mixing air and fuel (gasoline) for further supply to the engine cylinders.
