How to cut the corner of the ceiling plinth without a chisel

How to cut a ceiling plinth: work with or without a tool

Every repair requires attention to the smallest detail. How well the finish is done, depends on the appearance of the room and its overall perception. To a greater extent, this applies to the ceilings, which in most cases are not perfect, so to hide all the imperfections (their and the walls), many owners use ceiling plinths, which give the rooms completeness. If the installation of the baguettes in straight areas does not cause particular difficulties, then the joints of the elements in the corners require maximum accuracy. Therefore, many owners who are planning, or have already started the repair, are interested in how to cut the ceiling plinth, what tools can be used for this stage of the work.

The answer to the question of how to cut a ceiling plinth, depends on what material it is made of. Cutting is different, because the baguettes have different density. Therefore, the first thing to consider is the most popular materials, and at the same time the peculiarities of their cutting.

Styrofoam

Such products have the lowest price, because the material is very unstable to mechanical influences. Foam is easy to scratch, damage in case of accidental impact. Advantages. minimum weight, which simplifies gluing, easy processing, the ability to paint in any color.

This foam material consists of small granules, which are quite easily separated from each other. However, they are the main disadvantage of such baguettes. They require a very sharp tool. Otherwise, the skirting board could crumble, so it would be unsuitable for installation. This is true for both angled and straight cuts.

Styrofoam

This contender is more expensive, but it does not differ from the first candidate very much, because it is a “relative” of Styrofoam: it is produced from expanded polystyrene. This material also consists of small granules, but they are closer together. But also polystyrene foam will not tolerate a not too sharp blade, it will also crumble. Therefore, the master needs to prepare no less than a sharp tool.

The main advantage of foam and polystyrene foam is their softness, which allows you to avoid gaps by pressing the workpieces tightly to each other and to the corners.

Extruded polystyrene foam

EPPS is made from the same raw materials as conventional polystyrene foam, but in this case a different, more advanced technology is used. Conventional EPS is made by applying steam through microgranules.

To obtain extruded polystyrene foam, the particles are mixed at high temperature and the same pressure, and then a foaming agent is added to the raw material. The size of granules in this material is much smaller (maximum 0,2 mm), as a result it is less crumbly and more durable. Very sharp tools are not needed to cut it, but bluntness of the cutting edge is also not welcome.

Polyvinyl chloride

Plastic skirting boards (PVC). another type of ceiling products. Usually they are purchased for finishing bathrooms. If we consider the topic “How to cut a ceiling plinth”, in this case they are exceptions, because they use special, ready-made corners for docking.

Generally speaking, these baguettes can be cut with a box cutter, a metal hacksaw, or a sharp kitchen tool. As PVC products do not restore their shape due to the lack of elasticity, it is not recommended to put a lot of pressure on them when they are cut.

Polyurethane

This is another representative of polymer products. It is characterized by high density and lacks the disadvantages of previous competitors. It is easy to cut, so the tool must be sharp, but there are no maximum requirements to its sharpening. Polyurethane skirting boards do not crumble, do not warp, and can withstand almost any pressure with honor.

Wood

This traditional material is cut with common carpentry tools, e.g. a jigsaw, hand or electric. the places of the cut are finished with emery paper or a file. Since such products are more expensive than other skirting boards, care is required when working. A serious mistake can be made easily, but it can not be corrected. The consequence of carelessness will be the purchase of a new baguette.

The ideal tool for cutting wooden workpieces would be an electric mitre saw. The biggest disadvantage of it. the high price, especially quality models. On the other hand, buyers have the opportunity to find an inexpensive tool that will do a decent job.

Tools to be used

First about how to cut a polymer or wood ceiling plinth, how to do it correctly and quickly. In this case 2 tools are required for the work. a plane and a cutting tool.

How to cut a skirting board?

As for the latter, the choice depends on the baseboard material:

  • Products of foam plastic (all polystyrene) assume the use of a sharp office knife;
  • Baseboards made of polyurethane are usually cut with a metal hacksaw;
  • Wood requires “active” participation of a jigsaw or saw.

The second potential tool for polyurethane is the same office knife. The reason is the rather low density of the material. Another alternative. a sharply sharpened kitchen knife. A special requirement for it is not too thick a blade.

A possible substitute for a wood jigsaw. a metal saw. The blade that has the smallest serrations is optimal. Otherwise, the tool will get stuck in the material, and in such conditions it is extremely difficult to make a flawless cut.

The chisel and its self-made

Chisel. the second obligatory tool for working with baseboards.

What is it?

Not everyone may know what it is. This is a device that allows you to cut any workpiece at different angles (45-90°). It is a chute, consisting of the bottom and two sides, in which slots are made for tools. Lay the material at the bottom of the blade, and insert the hacksaw (knife, etc.) into the slots. д.). After sawing baguettes, it produces practically perfect blanks.

Chisel. a necessity for trimming any skirting boards, because the joints of the elements require a 45° angle. Otherwise, the connection of the parts will not work: or between the adjacent skirting boards will be a gap, or they simply will need to be trimmed again, since the adjacent products will be impossible to join.

Yes, the remaining hole can be masked with some compound. However, this option is still not the best. The filler may soon change color a little, and this discrepancy will be very noticeable. But even here there is an exception.

How to Make a Jigsaw?

For self-made, you will need to find a board length of about a meter or more, or a sheet of plywood (chipboard). It is still necessary to prepare:

  • From the selected material, cut out 3 parts with a width of 200 to 250 mm, their length. 300 mm (400, 500 mm). Using self-tapping screws, they are connected in the shape of the letter “U”.
  • Using a protractor, the upper parts of the sides make marks corresponding to the angle of 45 ° (if necessary, and 90 °).
  • Then take a hacksaw, which sawed the holes so that the grooves reach the bottom of the tool.

Finished holes are bored rasp, so they can freely enter the jigsaw or hacksaw.

DIY with their own hands, step by step instructions, photos and videos

Repair is a time of changes and expectations of the beautiful. However, a simple job. fitting a ceiling plinth (baguette). sometimes causes difficulties for many. And the most common of them: joining baseboard strips under the ceiling. How to do it quickly and without special tools? Let’s see how craftsmen do it.

A special tool for cutting moldings, whether it is baguettes, platbands, baseboards or cornices, is a plane. But in the field it is not always at hand, and often breaks. In this case, a simple method of putting one baguette on another will help. And it’s best to mark the parts at the place of their installation by hand. This method is suitable for fitting in the inner corners of small ceiling baguettes (photo)

Step by step instructions for fitting baseboard (inside corner)

We put one of the slats on the corner, and press its edge against the wall. Align it with the work planes that are to be glued. The edge of the second strip overlap the end of the first skirting board, aligning it with the ceiling and wall. The two strips should be positioned as they will be glued in place.

With a pencil we do a mark on the top edge of an overlapping baguette. The bottom trim point will be zero, there is no point in marking it. Repeating the marking by changing slats one relative to the other. It should look like this (photo).

Trimming is done with an ordinary paint knife. The secret to a good trim is a sharp blade that is not blunted or stained by foreign materials like polyurethane foam, etc.д. It’s best to choose a new spare blade, the length of which will allow you to make a cut on the baguette at one time.

How to cut a baseboard with a wire cutter

The chisel is a carpentry tool, which is a tray with slots. It allows you to cut the ceiling plinth at the desired angle.

If we talk about a professional tool, it has a special swivel mechanism. This allows you to set the desired degree angle. It is most convenient to use a square when the angle between the walls is perfectly straight.

How to cut a ceiling moulding corner evenly with a straight edge?

The plier is an uncomplicated tool used by carpenters. With its help, you can cut any workpiece at the desired angle.

It is usually a wooden, metal or plastic tray, on which are made to cut at an angle of 45 ° and 90 ° special vertical cuts.

There are complicated designs, which in addition to the named corners also have a hole to make a 60-degree cut.

For professional work, there is a special plier. Its swivel mechanism allows you to fix the cutting blade in relation to the workpiece at any given angle.

Inner corner

The prepared skirting board is attached to the ceiling, and the required length is marked off.

Then the strip is inserted into the joiner exactly as it will be positioned on the ceiling. It must be pressed against the far wall of the device. In this position the baseboard is held by the left hand.

The blade of the hacksaw should be in such a position that its angle is 45 degrees, and the handle would be as close to the hand. Trying not to press the saw, we carefully cut the workpiece.

Further it is necessary to cut a lath to the skirting board. It is also placed at the far side of the tool, held and pressed, this time with the right hand.

Similar to the previous procedure, the position of the hacksaw is similar. its handle is brought closer to the hand at an angle of 45 degrees. The plinth is cut.

Then the finished trim strips are docked together. the exact fit is checked. It is believed that for better orientation, in the manufacture of the inner corner, it is better to start cutting from the front of the product. The cut points usually have to be further trimmed with a file.

Outer corner

The correct way to accurately measure the skirting boards is to start from the inside corner, and only then go to the outside corner.

Otherwise it may happen that the full length of the plank is not enough.

The slat is attached to the ceiling, according to the size, marks are made. Holding the left hand, the ceiling plinth is pressed to the closest wall and the handle of the hacksaw is close to the hand. The piece is cut off.

The counter batten is pressed against the nearest wall, holding it with the right hand. The blade of the hacksaw should be at an angle of 45 °, the handle of the tool is close to the hand of the master. A piece of the workpiece is cut off, the corner is neatly docked.

This processing of the edge of the parts with a mash is good if the angle between the walls is flat and straight (90°).

If its performance leaves much to be desired, it is worth using another method.

Marking on the ceiling

The method with the marking on the ceiling allows you to cut a corner exactly and straight. It has one disadvantage. it is rather inconvenient to hold the baseboard by weight during the procedure.

All other things being equal, you can determine the angle of the cut even more accurately than with other methods.

When the plinth is applied to the intended place of installation, all size deviations and inaccuracies are noticeable and immediately taken into account.

Cutting the corner

First take a couple of pieces, then cut at a right angle. Pressing the end of the slat against a perpendicular wall, we will put one slat against the other. Let’s draw the trimmer’s line on the ceiling along the contour of the skirting board. We remove the first slat, then in the same way, having set its end against the wall, we bring the counter slat. In the same way, we mark the contour of the line for the trimmer.

The intersection point of the two separate lines is the mark at which the workpiece is cut. Each slat is placed against the surface again, and the point of the future cut is marked on both slats. From the found point to the other edge of the baseboard plank, draw a fishing line for the trimmer. The skirting boards are cut according to the marks made earlier, carefully joined, and positioned in the place where they will be installed.

This method allows you to process the inner corners more accurately.

How to make a template of the jigsaw with your own hands

If you do not have a jointer, you do not need to buy a tool for one-time use. A template with the same functions can be made by yourself.

To do this, the required corners of the cut are marked on wood, paper or cardboard.

corner, ceiling, plinth, chisel

Then you need to draw a pair of parallel lines, find the center, and then use a protractor to measure the corners of any given size.

This method is especially convenient because, using it, you can set aside a corner of any size, even larger than the straight.

The method of processing a plinth piece with a homemade tool practically does not differ from the work with the original. The plank is pressed against one of the parallels, then the hacksaw is set at the required angle, and is cut off.

Remember that before you cut the corners of the workpiece, you must always check the size of the angle between the walls! A protractor and an angle are used for this.

How to trim a baseboard without a plough

Suppose you urgently need to glue the ceiling plinth.

How to make a corner without a joiner? It is possible, but it will take more time. Proceed in this order.

  • Both parts of the skirting board are first cut at right angles.
  • Marks the position of the elements on the wall and applies a fishing line to trimmer their junction. As a result we will see two intersecting lines. The point of their intersection is projected directly on the baseboard parts.
  • The skirting board is applied to the ceiling and a line is drawn to trim the cut from one edge to the other.
  • Parts are finished by using a utility knife or a box cutter.
  • A virtual mortar is drawn on paper, with lines drawn at the right angles. Baseboard tacks are attached to such a mortar and cut (with the blade of the knife should be held vertically).

How to cut the corner of the ceiling plinth with Комментарии и мнения владельцев from a specialist will help to deal with this problem.

Tip! Since the inner or outer corner is not always perfectly shaped, the ceiling plinth will have noticeable gaps in the joints.

To make them less noticeable, you should apply gypsum putty to the ends before gluing the baseboard. When the elements are joined, remove excess putty with a rubber putty knife. All gaps will be filled and the joint will be less noticeable.

It is not easy to glue and properly dock skirting boards with a pattern. What to do in such a case? The answer will prompt a video.

Attaching skirting boards with decorative corners

If the walls are perfectly prepared, and the outer and inner corners are equal to 90°, it is possible to use special decorative elements to join the skirting boards. The advantages of this method:

  • Easy installation: no need to “get the hang of it” by perfecting the technique of trimming baseboard details;
  • Saving time: to dock the elements, they just need to be trimmed at right angles and attach the decorative part.

The decorative parts themselves are designed to join the skirting boards:

This method of connection is the only option in the case of installation of plastic skirting, trimming which without gaps is impossible to perform.

How to trim a skirting board for an outside corner

If you cut the skirting board at a 90° angle, you get a hole between the strips

Cut the outer corner as follows.

  • Mark the dimensions of the plank by placing it on the ceiling.
  • Lean the baseboard against the closest wall of the mortiser, holding it with your left hand. Select a 45° position so that the handle is close to your left hand. Cut the skirting board.
  • Position the second skirting board against the same wall, holding it in place with your right hand.
  • Choose a 45° angle so that the handle of the hacksaw is close to your right hand. Cut away.

Trimming ceiling plinths without a joiner

The walls in the room are not always level, they may not be 90° between them at all. How to cut the ceiling plinth in this case? You can use a simple marking on the ceiling.

  • Cut the baseboard at a 90° angle, apply it to the ceiling, resting against the corner of the wall.
  • On the ceiling surface, draw a trimmer line with a pencil over the plank. Repeat the process for the second baseboard.
  • At the point where the lines intersect, cut the fillet. The line for the trimmer should go against the part of the skirting board that is against the wall.

If you do not have a jig, you can measure the angle by hand

When cutting the ceiling plinth be sure to note that the inner corner is measured directly from the corner, and the outer will protrude deep into the room. Therefore, it is better to start with the trimming of the inner, and then move on to the outer corner. The skirting board should be glued on after both joints formed by counter skirting boards have been joined.

How to choose a skirting board

When buying a ceiling plinth, it is important not only to consider aesthetics, but also practicality. The most common on today’s market is polyurethane fillet.

The material guarantees high resistance to moisture, durability and elasticity of the product. This skirting board is suitable for bedrooms and rooms. But in premises where temperature jumps are frequent (kitchen, bathroom), it is better not to use it. Variations from heat to cold lead to significant deformations of the batten, spoiling the entire interior.

When choosing a skirting board made of polystyrene or polystyrene foam, it is important to remember that the product is very brittle and can be damaged by mechanical stresses. Variants of polyvinylchloride have a high electrostaticity, so even minor dents during installation will be impossible to fix and remove.

Each type of skirting board is suitable for individual conditions of use and method of installation. Therefore, when buying, it is important to be guided by several factors:

Options for cutting the baseboard with their own hands

For easy and comfortable work with the baseboard, masters use a construction tool. a plier. It saves a lot of work time and guarantees the accuracy of execution.

If in the arsenal is not a special device, you can use one of the home methods:

To construct a semblance of a crosshead, you will need: a sheet of paper or plywood, a ruler and a pencil.

  • On the base are drawn 2 parallel lines. When they are joined by a perpendicular you get a 90 degree angle.
  • Applying the skirting along the line, it is easy to make an incision for a right angle. Achieve an angle of 45 degrees will help a protractor or a clerical triangle.

It is important to remember that not every home has perfectly straight corners, so you need to adjust such places by hand.

To correctly cross out the ceiling, the master will need to perform a few simple actions:

  • To begin with, you need to put the baseboard tightly under the desired angle and draw a line for the trimmer on the ceiling with a pencil.
  • Treat the other side of the corner in the same way. Both slats of the skirting board should fit tightly together, leaving no gap.
  • The point of contact of two straight lines is transferred to the skirting board and lead the straight trimmer line to the opposite side of the fillet. This is the place of the future cut.
  • Do the same procedure with the second skirting board. It is necessary that the lines are perfectly straight. This will help to avoid gaps when pasting.
  • It remains to cut off the extra sections of the baseboard with a construction knife and attach the rails in the corner. If both parts fit together well, you can start gluing. In the case where the baseboard lies unevenly, the cut places need to be slightly corrected with a knife or hacksaw.

The process is quite easy and straightforward, even without training videos. The only rule that should be adhered to. carefully measure and use a ruler for accurate marking.

Ready-made fittings are an option for those whose home has perfectly even corners. Otherwise the blanks will not produce the desired effect, and will spoil the whole aesthetic. Therefore, before you splurge on unsuitable goods, you should measure all the corners in the rooms in advance.

There are also more ingenious options for cutting the corners of ceiling skirting boards with wooden bars, cardboard or planks.

Even without special devices and professional tools, you can cut even corners on the baseboard. It is not difficult and expensive to build help from improvised means.

With proper patience and proper fitting of products, cut the corner of the ceiling plinth with their own hands, like a professional, can even a novice.

Ceiling plinth. fillet

To do it correctly, it is important to strictly follow the existing recommendations and rules of finishing work. And then the result will please you.

In the attachment of trim (so called this element) there are no complications: virtually all varieties of products are mounted on a reliable adhesive.

In order to hang a ceiling plinth, even inexperienced repairmen have no difficulty. Worries them quite another thing: how to properly trim a ceiling plinth? Virtually every room, no matter how intricate shape it was, equipped with corners.

And here in these internal corners, the individual elements of the plinth must be beautifully and evenly docked. And in rooms especially complex configuration will have to fudge and over the outer corners. Let’s try to figure out how to be in each of these situations, and how to cut the right part with the available tools.

Baseboard materials and cutting methods

First of all, let’s try to determine what the baseboard can be made of, and what is the best material to cut.

On sale today you can find products made of foam (polyvinyl chloride), wood, polystyrene foam and polyurethane.

Perhaps some of the cheapest are baseboards made of foam plastic, which is a fragile, soft and brittle material.

Even the fingers of the hand can leave dents on them, they are easy to form creases and defects. It is quite difficult to cut a nice and even corner of a PVC baseboard.

Inexperienced master a large amount of purchased material can go to waste for this very reason. Also this polymer has high electrostatic properties, which explains its ability to collect dust.

It is best to cut such skirting boards with a hacksaw or a sharp construction knife.

Styrofoam products are also not expensive, although this material is a more solid analogue of the traditional styrofoam.

Handled with a sharp tool as well.

Extruded polystyrene foam

Skirting boards made of extruded polystyrene foam are a bit more expensive, a bit denser and more difficult to cut. But they are much less likely to crumble and break.

Therefore, it is more convenient and easier to cut them. For this purpose it is convenient to use a hacksaw or a sharp knife.

Polyurethane skirting boards for ceilings are currently probably one of the most expensive.

But they are worth their price: they are moisture-resistant, quite strong and dense, and quite elastic.

Placed over the kitchen stove, the baseboard can warp and even crack a little.

They are perfectly cut with a special knife, without crumbling. But these products are very sensitive to temperature changes.

Wooden skirting boards for the ceiling are quite heavy and dense products, hard and durable.

They are well amenable to processing with a special fine-toothed hacksaw. You can also use a reliable blade on metal. So how to trim a ceiling plinth correctly?

Prefabricated corners

Note that every craftsman has the opportunity not to pore over the precise cutting and fitting of corners.

In a construction store you can buy a factory corner element, in which the prepared edges of the skirting can easily be inserted.

It is enough to measure the necessary length of the workpiece, and cut it at right angles.

All defects and flaws will hide this special element. But such a convenient way to use is not always possible, because the standard size of such factory corners can differ markedly from the size of the baseboard itself.

Such angles will stand out for their disproportionality, and it will not look very neat. But if the design of the room and the size of the blanks allow you to use this method, then you should not neglect it.

How to evenly cut the corner of the ceiling plinth with it?

The plier is an uncomplicated tool used by carpenters. It can be used to cut any workpiece at a desired angle.

It is usually a wooden, metal or plastic tray, which are made to cut at an angle of 45 ° and 90 ° special vertical slots.

There are sophisticated designs, which in addition to the named corners also have a hole to make a 60-degree cut.

For professional work, a special plane is available. Its swivel mechanism allows you to fix the cutting blade in relation to the workpiece at any given angle.

Inside corner

The prepared skirting board is put on the ceiling, the required length is put aside.

Then this same slat is inserted into the joiner exactly as it will be positioned on the ceiling. It should be pressed against the far wall of the fixture. Hold the skirting board in this position with the left hand.

The blade of the hacksaw should be in such a position, so that its angle is 45 degrees, and the handle is as close as possible to the hand. Trying to avoid exerting pressure on the saw, we carefully cut the workpiece.

Next, a stripping strip should be cut off the skirting board. It is also placed at the far wall of the tool, held and pressed down, this time with the right hand.

Similar to the previous procedure is the position of the hacksaw. its handle is close to the hand at an angle of 45 degrees. The skirting board is then cut.

Then the finished, already cut slats are joined together. the accuracy of fit is checked. It is believed that for better orientation, when making an inside corner, it is better to start cutting from the front part of the product. The cut areas usually need to be fitted again with a file.

Outer corner

The correct way to observe more accurately the dimensions, first begin to measure the inner corner, and only then move on to the outer.

Otherwise it may happen that along the entire length of the strip is not enough.

The strip is attached to the ceiling, and marks are made according to its size. Holding the ceiling plinth with the left hand, the ceiling plinth is pressed to the closest wall, with the handle of the hacksaw close to the hand. The workpiece is cut.

The response bar is pressed against the nearest wall, holding it with the right hand. The blade of the hacksaw should be at an angle of 45 °, the handle of the tool is close to the hand of the master. A piece of workpiece is cut off, the corner is neatly docked.

corner, ceiling, plinth, chisel

This machining of the edge of the piece with the wort is good if the angle between the walls is even and straight (90°).

If its performance leaves much to be desired, it is worth using another method.

Marking the ceiling

The method with a marking on the ceiling allows you to cut the corner accurately and evenly. It has one disadvantage. it is rather inconvenient to hold the baseboard by weight during the procedure.

Otherwise, with this method, you can mark the angle for cutting even more accurately than other methods.

When the plinth is applied to the intended place of installation, all dimensional deviations and inaccuracies are noticeable and are immediately taken into account.

Cutting a corner

First you need to take a pair of blanks, then cut them at right angles. By pressing the end of the slat against a perpendicular wall, we attach one slat. We outline a line on the ceiling for a trimmer on the contour of the baseboard. We remove the first slat, then in the same way, resting against the wall end, add a counter slat. Mark the contour of the trimmer line in the same way.

The intersection point of the two separate lines is the mark at which the piece is cut. Each slat is placed against the surface again, on both marks the point of the future cut. From the point found to the other edge of the skirting board, draw a trimmer line. The skirting boards are cut to the marks made earlier, and then neatly joined and positioned in the place where they will be installed.

This method allows you to handle the inner corners more accurately.

Trimming a skirting board without a joiner

Agree, not everyone has a joiner’s tool at home, and to buy it only for the baseboard. not a good idea. But corners still need to trim, because the neatness of the ceiling finish is at stake. What to do in this case?

Actually, we can do without the joiner. There are even two ways to trim the corners of the baseboard without special tools: by resorting to marking on the wall and with a drawn false chisel. Let’s start with the first one.

The work is performed as follows. For the inside corner:

  • Apply the bar to the ceiling, which will be installed to the right of the corner. Run a straight trimmer line along the outside edge of the skirting board.
  • Place the trimmer strip on the opposite side of the corner and run the trimmer line along the ceiling as well.
  • Mark the place where the two lines meet with an X. Place the slat against the corner, transfer the mark to it, and then run a straight trimmer line to the bottom corner of the piece, this is the line you’ll trim the skirting board along.
  • Cut the necessary angle with a hacksaw or office knife.
  • Place the baseboard to the right of the corner. Draw a trimmer line on the ceiling along the baseboard further from the corner.
  • Place the baseboard to the left of the corner. Draw the trimmer line along the trimmer to the mark where it intersects with the first line.
  • Mark two marks on the slat: the first is where the lines on the ceiling intersect, the second is where the room corner passes. Connect the two marks. you will get a fishing line for the trimmer trimming the baseboard. Now all that is left is to cut the corner and, if necessary, correct the gaps.

Trimming a corner with a false chisel

The third way of trimming the corner of the baseboard is not quite usual. with the use of a kind of faux-jewel. You can make such a “tool” in two ways.

The first is to draw a jig. To do this, you can use plain heavy paper or cardboard: draw two parallel lines on the sheet and, using a protractor or a simple angle, set off the corners with the desired degree. The corner is cut in much the same way as in the case of the carpenter’s plane: put the skirting board against the “tool”, make the necessary marks and according to them make the cut.

The second way is to make a prototype of the crossbeam from three wooden boards: connect them in the form of an oblong letter “U” and make notches in 45 and 90 degrees. For marking angles you can use the same protractor.

corner, ceiling, plinth, chisel

Wooden plank trimmer

Cutting corners of a baseboard without a wire cutter, it is very important not to miscalculate with the length of the slat and the degree of notch itself. To avoid mistakes, at first it’s better to cut blanks 10 cm longer, then try them on dry to the ceiling and only after that adjust until you get the desired result. Besides, let’s not forget that not all bathrooms have perfect 90 degree corners. you still can’t do without correcting products.

Tip. Fix to the ceiling plinth trim only after you fit the corner of the next baseboard billet to it. It is better to try on the table, not under the ceiling itself, but on the table. it will take more time, but the notch line will be more accurate.

Thus, we have several ways to trim ceiling plinths: with a joiner’s chair, without a chair, using a kind of false chisel. Whichever variant of performing corners you choose, it is important to do everything in a calibrated and accurate manner. only then will you get a truly effective tool for the final design of the ceiling, thereby making the interior of your bathroom aesthetically complete.
