How To Fit The Coil To The Trimmer Correctly

How to change line on a trimmer

Below we have provided step-by-step instructions for replacing the trimmer thread.

The first thing to do is to unplug the tool and turn off the engine. Then you need to remove the trimmer head. This can be done using a simple screwdriver by lowering it into the hole in the gearbox to prevent the shaft from turning. And then just unscrew

  • coil, trimmer, correctly
  • They are usually unscrewed clockwise, but different models have different mechanisms, so it may have to be turned in the opposite direction. But if suddenly, for some reason, you cannot figure it out, then we strongly recommend that you refer to the user manual to understand how to disconnect it.

Second. After removing the mowing head, open it. This can be done by means of clamps that are located opposite each other. By pressing on them, you can remove the head cover, and then pull out the spool on which the line is wound. By pulling it out, you can determine what type it belongs to. There are one-piece and two-piece bobbins

We analyze how to thread the line into the trimmer coil in two versions

So, there is only one option. we load the line into a single-section reel. The prepared piece of thread is folded in half and pushed into the spool. Then, we start winding both ends in the same direction, which will be indicated by the arrow on the spool. At the end of winding, do not forget to check that different ends of the thread are looking in different directions.

Option two. winding the line with a two-piece reel. The pre-prepared thread is divided into two parts, and its ends must be fixed: this must be done by placing them in special fasteners

Winding is carried out, as in the first case, along the arrow indicated on the spool. Both segments should be wound so that they do not intersect. Further, the ends of the thread should be fixed in the grooves and divorced on opposite sides.

The spring is then inserted into the reel and the whole thing is placed in the mowing head. When placing the reel in the trimmer, you need to gently hold the spring parallel while inserting the line into the slots on the mower head. And in the end, it just needs to be secured with the final part, that is, with a lid.

After threading the trimmer, you need to check it. If you did everything correctly, everything will work, but if you made a mistake, we recommend that you read the article again, or even better, if you watch the video on how to install a line on a reel in a trimmer.

How to remove the line from the trimmer spool

Over time, the cutting element of the head wears out, and it becomes necessary to pull out the remnants of the old fishing line. Not everyone knows how to do this. Our step-by-step instructions plus a video on how to pull the thread out of the trimmer spool, which you can find on the net, will help in solving this issue.

The mowing head must be disassembled

Winding a coil (rewinding my frequency meter)

A trimmer is a great solution for those who have a large garden or lawn near the house that needs to be constantly trimmed. But like any other tool, sometimes it requires intervention. After some time, it will become necessary to replace certain elements, and this will have to be learned.

How can this be done? To replace the main cutting element, you must first select it correctly. In principle, the operator’s manual for lawn mowers should indicate the diameter of the thread to be used in it.

When you have acquired the required cutting element, try to install it correctly. It should be noted that there are a huge number of videos on the Internet that will help you figure out how to properly thread the line into the trimmer coil.

How to wind the line onto the trimmer spool

The line in the trimmer head can run out at the most inopportune moment when the work is in full swing. So that the replacement of the fishing line does not take much time and does not have to go through the instructions for a long time, we recommend that you theoretically familiarize yourself with this process in advance. From our article you will learn all the subtleties, starting with the choice of consumables and ending with winding on spools of different types.

    Line replacement process

    Line selection

For each trimmer, the manufacturer recommends a fishing line, or cord, of a certain diameter. a reel is made for it. It can be from 1.2 to 4 mm: you need to look at the instructions for what line sizes are acceptable for your tool. For example, many trimmers have a maximum value of 3 mm (recommended for tough grass). a thicker cord cannot be fitted. For mowing young, soft vegetation, a thin line with a diameter of 1.2. 1.6 mm is suitable. Also, when choosing, pay attention to the structure of the cord: round is the most durable and suitable for coarse grass, curly. for soft, twisted or with notches. for thin stems. Depending on what kind of grass grows on the site. lawn or weed, buy the appropriate consumable. The length of the winding can be from several tens to several hundred meters, and its price depends on this. You need to proceed from the amount of work to be done. If the trimmer is used in a private household, there is no need to buy a skein over 100 m.

It is important to know! Buy only branded line recommended by the trimmer manufacturer. It is made of high-quality materials and is durable. it will cut the grass perfectly and not wear out so quickly.

For one threading of the line into the bobbin, a length of 2 to 4 m is required. it all depends on its thickness and the manufacturer’s recommendations. If you wind more, the movement of the line will be difficult, and in the process, you may have problems pulling out new ends. Unwind the required amount and cut with a knife.

Helpful Hint: Place a piece of cord in water for 30 minutes, then it will become more elastic and stronger.

Removing the spool from the spit

To insert the line into the trimmer head, remove it from the tool. Depending on the design, this can be done by pressing the latches or unwinding the lamb. Pay attention to the direction of the thread. right or left. and rotate the wing depending on this. Usually the direction of rotation is indicated by an arrow on the trimmer head housing. It is recommended to carry out this operation with gloves. fingers will not slip, and hands will not get dirty.

    Dismantling the mowing head

The line is wound on a spool, which is hidden in the trimmer head housing. To get to it, you need to disassemble the element. On the case there are latches-latches, when you press them, the case cover can be easily removed. Sometimes disassembly is carried out by untwisting the case.

Be careful! Remember in what order the elements are installed, how the spring and the fixing screw are located inside the head. Stack all the parts neatly in one place so that nothing gets lost and there are no problems during assembly.

    Line winding

Trimmer heads differ in structure, reel type and line pulling principle. Having disassembled the case, you will see the spool and determine what type it belongs to. There are products with a middle edge that divides the reel into a top and bottom for each end of the line. In products without it, the line winding is solid. To make the process clearer, we suggest using the table.

Winding line on reels of different types

    With dividing flange

    Without dividing board

We have described how to wind the line into the reel of a double-barbed trimmer. This is the most common option. But there are other ways as well. For example, if there is one antenna in the mowing head, then winding is carried out without folding the line. Rotate in the direction indicated on the bobbin body, and the free end of the cord is temporarily fixed in the slot on the body. For trimmers with four antennae, four short sections are consumable, which are inserted in turn into the holes of an already assembled head.

Helpful hint: when winding the line, proceed carefully, do not stretch it, so that it does not sit very tightly in the reel. It is necessary to ensure its free movement for subsequent pulling.

    Assembling the trimmer head

After the line is wound on the spool, it is necessary to assemble the body. Position the spool so that the ends of the line can be pulled into the trimmer head outlets. The slots in the spool, where they were temporarily inserted, will prevent them from slipping out. If there are no such slots, support the ends with your fingers as you insert the coil into the body. After pulling the free ends into the outlet openings, close the lid and secure it with latches or twist. Place the mowing head on the trimmer and pull out the ends of the line to the required length so that they do not touch the protective cover during operation. Done! You can get to work!

Now, having removed and disassembled the coil, we proceed, in fact, to winding.

How to properly wind the line on the trimmer spool

Many, having worked out the factory line on a recently purchased trimmer, try to wind a new one, but they cannot, because they do not know how to properly wind the line on the spool (bobbin) of the trimmer. It seems that there is an instruction, but it still does not work. Let’s try to deal with this issue in this article.

So, in order to wind the line, you first need to remove the coil from the trimmer. this will be more convenient. The removal method will depend on the type of trimmer.

Removing the coil from the trimmer

On small, bottom motor electric trimmers (when operating near the ground), the reel usually has two buttons on the sides. Click on them and disconnect one half of the coil body from the second, which remains on the trimmer. Together with the first half, the inner part is also taken out, on which the fishing line is directly wound. When parsing, be careful: there is a spring inside that can fly out and get lost.

On electric and gasoline trimmers with a curved bar (there is still no way to put a knife on such trimmers), you need to wrap the coil body itself with one hand, and with the other hand you need to start rotating the lamb on it counterclockwise. It is he who attaches the coil to the trimmer bar. Having unscrewed the lamb, carefully remove the entire coil, trying not to lose the spring inside.

On electric and gasoline trimmers with a straight bar and a gearbox at its end (on such trimmers, in addition to fishing line, you can also install a knife), we look for a hole under the coil, insert, for example, a screwdriver into it, quietly rotate the coil until the screwdriver crawls even deeper, and the coil will lock. Now we turn the whole coil clockwise (since the thread is left-handed) and remove it from the trimmer. Then we disassemble the coil. It can be assembled using latches or twisted with a lamb. If the coil is on snaps, then press on the sides on the base of the snaps so that they bend and release one half of the coil body from the other. We just unscrew the lamb. There may also be a third type of connection of two halves of such a coil: with it, you need to grab the lower part with one hand, and the upper part with the other, and start turning them in opposite directions. When disassembling such a coil, you also need to make sure that the spring inside is not lost.

    Winding process

If your coil is designed to work with only one tendril, then it’s simple. You need to unwind 2-4 m of fishing line (depending on the size of the reel), find a fixing hole for the line on the inside of the reel, insert one end of the line there and start winding the line in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the reel on the trimmer. On the inside of the reel, they usually indicate with an arrow in which direction to wind the line. After winding the fishing line, we leave a small piece of it unwound to expose it. We fix this piece in a special groove located on the inner part of the reel and designed so that the line does not unwind at the time of collecting the reel. If there is no such a groove, then you will have to hold the fishing line with your finger to prevent it from unwinding during the further collection of the coil. Next, we take the outer part of the coil and thread the outer piece of fishing line into the existing hole, assemble and put the coil back on the trimmer.

If the coil is designed to work with two antennae, then do the following. On the inside of the reel, we look at how many grooves there are for winding the fishing line. There may be one or two of them. If there is only one groove, then both tendrils are wound along this one groove. If there are two grooves, then each antenna is wound along its own groove. A reel with one groove should have a through hole through which the line is threaded. We unwind 2-4 m of fishing line, thread it through this hole so that it sticks out equally on each side of the fishing line. And we simultaneously wind both antennae of the fishing line in the same direction, opposite to the direction of rotation of the coil on the trimmer and coinciding with the direction indicated by the arrow on the inside of the coil. We leave a little of the fishing line unwound, fix the resulting ends in special grooves, and if they are not there, we hold them with our fingers. We pass both ends into the existing holes on the outer casing of the coil. We collect the coil and attach it to the trimmer.

If there are two grooves, fold a piece of fishing line 2-4 m long in half, insert the loop obtained at the place of the bend into the groove between the two grooves, and simultaneously wind both ends of the fishing line along its own groove. Further actions are similar to the previous option.

There are also reels in which the fishing line is threaded through a through hole on the inside. After that, the ends of the line, without winding, are threaded completely through the holes on the outer body of the reel, collect the reel and begin to rotate the button, which is usually pressed, in order to release the line during operation as it wears out. Rotate the button. the fishing line itself is wound inside. At the same time, it will not work to turn it in the “wrong” direction, since it can only rotate in one direction. If you get used to it, you can wind fishing line on such a reel without even disassembling it. you just need to combine the through hole of the inner drum with the holes on the outer body of the reel, and then thread the fishing line through them.

That’s all on this issue. Happy winding!

How to properly wind the line on the trimmer video

We wind the line on the trimmer spool

Owners who have their own backyard plots often face the problem of lawn maintenance, namely, the need for high-quality mowing of grass. For these purposes, either a hand or a scythe powered by electricity is used. a trimmer (see photo). It is clear that working with the electric model is much easier and faster. The grass is mowed with a line rotating at high speeds. But during operation, the thread wears out over time and requires a change. So how to wind the line on the trimmer reel with your own hands?

    Types of fishing line

The trimmer thread can be divided into types according to its diameter. It can start from the smallest. 1.2 millimeters and go up to 4 millimeters. The most commonly used is the 2 mm diameter. But it must be selected strictly individually, based on the specific model of the device. Often the required product diameter is indicated in the product passport. Usually, the more powerful the trimmer, the larger the line diameter should be. For example, it is best to wind a thread with a diameter of 2.4 mm on a spool of lawn mowers, and for a product with a weak engine, a thread diameter of 1.6 mm is suitable.

Fishing lines also differ in the type of section. It can be round (for mowing ordinary grass), square (for soft and often mown grass), with sharp edges (for tall grass), with notches (for thin grass), as well as complex (see photo). The latter can not be refueled in all types of devices. It should be noted that the line is intended exclusively for mowing grass. To cope with other types of plants, you need to use a lawn mower with a sharp knife. The length of the threads that can be tucked into the trimmer can range from 10 to 100 meters.

How to wind the line onto the trimmer spool

Product spools can have different yarn feeding systems. It can be manual, semi-automatic or automatic feeding. Depending on this, it is necessary to wind the fishing line. So how do you thread the bobbin? To begin with, the cap is unscrewed on the coil (see video). If the thread on it is left-handed, then you need to turn it clockwise, and not as usual.

Such a thread is made so that during the operation of the product, the trimmer head cannot unwind. To thread the thread, you need about 5 meters of material (see photo). It must be folded strictly in half, the center must be inserted into a specially designated place on the device and wound in the direction of the arrow, which should be drawn on the reel, as in the video. After that, you just need to screw the cap.

Car battery (AKB). a battery for accumulating and storing electrical energy for the purpose of its further use. Namely for: launch.

Many moto and car enthusiasts prefer, at least a little, to understand their own technique. This desire is quite justified. not only that.

How to replace line in any trimmer

Technological progress provides us with a lot of opportunities to get rid of manual labor. This includes, among other things, mowing grass, which required a lot of physical energy when using a conventional scythe. In modern conditions, this process is much easier, because the applied technique minimizes all costs. Devices such as electric and petrol trimmers have firmly taken the place of irreplaceable assistants in gardening. Mowing grass with their help has become more fun than hard and exhausting work.

Structurally, the trimmer consists of an engine, a bar and a working body, which, depending on the vegetation being cut, is either a mowing head or a milling disc. And if everything is more or less clear with the cutter, then sometimes questions arise with the nozzle. As a rule, they appear when the line ends.

How to properly wind the line on the reel? Understanding.

So, first unscrew the nozzle. This should be done by rotating the drum to the right. Here we have a drum with the remnants of an old fishing line in our hands. We open it. Most often, the lid is closed with latches that can be opened with a screwdriver, threading it through the holes and slightly pressing. Or you need to squeeze the latch and turn the cover in the direction of the arrow. In this case, the lid itself must be held, since reels with automatic line feed have a spring that, when straightened, can throw out all the inner parts of the drum. Gently pulling out the reel, remove the scraps of fishing line from it.

Now you need to take 5 meters of new line and fold it in half (to find the middle). In the middle part of the reel there is a notch (in some designs. a hole), for which we need to hook our fishing line. There is also an arrow on the spool showing the direction of winding. An important detail. if the reel has two compartments, then one half of the line should be wound in one direction, and the other in the other. When finishing winding, you need to leave 15-20 cm of fishing line free. There are also two notches on the top ring of the coil, through which these free ends need to be passed. We dealt with the winding itself.

The last step in the line replacement process is to assemble the drum. First you need to install the spring and washers in their place. Then, holding the reel with one hand, with the other you need to thread the ends of the line into the corresponding holes on the sides of the nozzle. After that, install the coil in its place, pulling the line and being careful not to dislodge the spring. When all the internal elements of the nozzle take their places, you can close the drum with a lid. You just need to make some effort to ensure that the latches fall into place. Voila! The mowing head is ready for use!

How to properly attach the thread to the trimmer

Winding the line to the trimmer. it’s a simple matter, but it requires some skill. First you need to firmly attach the reel to the rod. Then pass one end of the fluorocarbon through all the ears of the rod and fasten it to the spool. To do this, you need to raise the bow of the coil, wrap the fishing line around and tie with an Arbor knot.

If the thread is stiff or thick, then before winding it should be immersed in warm water, after this procedure it will become more elastic and lie smoother. When winding, it is desirable that there is an assistant who would hold the bobbin with the fishing line. In the process, you should slightly slow down the fluorocarbon with your finger or a soft cloth.

Storing nylon thread on a spool

How to wind the line on the trimmer. sorted it out, now let’s talk about storing fishing tackle, in particular fluorocarbon on the spool. For a long service life of the thread, you should adhere to several rules, the implementation of which allows you to save money on the purchase of new equipment.

It is important to remember that after fishing, the line and parts of the reel get wet, they should be well dried. Poorly dried fluorocarbon melts very quickly and becomes unusable. It becomes brittle and can break at the most crucial moment. To prevent this from happening, after seasonal fishing, the line from the reel should be rolled up and spread on the floor so that it dries well. This procedure should be carried out with backing (reeling). You can dry the nylon thread after each fishing trip if you go to it once a month.

You already know how to change the line on the trimmer, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Always store your fishing tackle in a dry place, this will guarantee reliability and durability.

How to wind line on a trimmer

During winding, the handle of the reel should be turned smoothly, without jerks and at high speeds. Care must be taken to ensure that the thread lies in straight parallel lines. Do not wind too thick line that is not intended for this reel.

Smoothly winding fluorocarbon, you should pay attention to how much is left to the side. The optimal distance is 2 mm from the top layer to the edge of the side.

    Backing

Every fisherman must know how to wind the line on the trimmer and what is backing. Backing is a reel spool reel. For this, a thread with a diameter of 0.1 to 0.3 mm is often used. If you use a thicker fluorocarbon as a reel, it can lead to uneven and uneven laying of the main line. It is highly undesirable to use wet materials for backing, such as nylon and cotton threads. They are unable to dry completely for a long time, which leads to debate, and the replacement of the line on the trimmer. these are additional financial costs.

The amount of thread needed for backing can only be determined empirically. This requires two spools. The required amount of working line is first wound on one, and then the backing is wound in such a way that two millimeters remain to the edges of the side. After this procedure, the spool with wound fluorocarbon is removed and an empty one is put on, on which the thread is wound, only in the reverse order. Backing first, then working nylon.

What should be the length of the working thread

It all depends on the method of fishing and the reservoir. If a small length of line is required for fishing, then it should be less; if long-distance casting is required, then more fluorocarbon is needed. For a quick change in the field, every angler should know how to change the line on the trimmer. If the spool of the reel is deep, then approximately two-thirds must be filled with a cheaper thread, and the remaining part should be wound with working fluorocarbon, which is necessary directly for fishing. The reel should consist of a thinner line than the working line, this will increase the density and not fall through the main.

    Trimmer line length

However, it is also possible to purchase a fishing line for a cut. It is suitable for those who use the braid infrequently, only for domestic purposes.

    Trimmer line diameter

The main criterion for trimmer line is its diameter. It can be 3.2, 3, 2.4, 2 or 1.6 mm. The thicker the line, the thicker the plants can be cut with a lawn mower. The most popular and common line diameter. 2 mm.

The thickness of the line should match the power of the trimmer engine and match the parameters of your lawn mower model. For a low-power unit, a fishing line diameter of 1.3-1.6 mm is suitable, and for a device designed to work with soft and hard vegetation. 1.8-2 mm.

If you do not know which diameter to choose, check the product passport before purchasing. There the manufacturer indicates the optimal value of the diameter of the fishing line.

Trimmer line and reel: how to make the right choice

    Trimmer spools modifications

Coils (heads) for the trimmer can be of various modifications. Single-line (with one line of fishing line) are suitable for trimming the lawn, and for clearing areas and mowing grass. two-string, with manual string length adjustment or automatic line feed.

Modern manufacturers are increasingly producing versatile lawn mowers with two-string automatic reels.

    Trimmer line section

There are the following main types of line section:
    – square;
    – round;
    – with sharp edges (star-shaped).

The cross-sectional shape of the line should correspond to the thickness of the vegetation being cut. Round line is required for lawn and young grass mowing. The pentahedral and square will be needed if the grass has become coarse, and weeds have appeared on the lawns.

Here the choice depends on the individual model and on the purpose of the trimmer. However, if you need to mow, for example, an old shrub, the line will not work for this, as it will break immediately. For such purposes, it is advisable to use a lawn mower equipped with a metal knife.

    Trimmer line and reel composition

The last criterion to pay attention to. the composition of the trimmer accessories. Lawnmower reels are made of plastic.

But the fishing line can be made from a wide variety of materials. Among them, nylon is worth noting. A fishing line made of this material is highly wear-resistant, capable of withstanding large temperature drops and increased loads. In addition, during long-term storage, nylon does not delaminate and does not lose its performance. All this directly affects the life of the line.

Why do I need ignition adjustment

In some cases, when the engine does not start, the ignition will need to be adjusted. Of course, first you need to check the condition of the candle and the high-voltage cable with a cap.

It is necessary to adjust the ignition on a two-stroke engine in order to ensure timely ignition of the fuel in the engine combustion chamber. Below is a diagram from which you can understand the principle of operation of the internal combustion engine.

The spark in the spark plug should appear at the moment the fuel is compressed by the piston, when it does not even reach the top dead center (TDC). When the piston passes TDC, the fuel mixture ignites, as a result of which the piston goes down under the action of the explosion energy.

Therefore, if for some reason (mainly due to the displacement of the flywheel on the shaft relative to its original position), the fuel ignites before the piston passes TDC, then it goes back, and the crankshaft rotates in the opposite direction. This movement could damage the starter assembly, cut the starter cord, etc. In this case, early ignition of the fuel occurs.

There may also be a late ignition on the trim: the piston, after the compression of the fuel that has not ignited, goes down, and at this moment a spark appears. In this case, the engine will either not start, or will significantly lose power and it will be bad to gain speed.

But such problems with early or late ignition on two-stroke internal combustion engines are quite rare, since the flywheel with magnets is already installed in the correct position, which is perfectly synchronized with the movement of the piston. In addition, the flywheel is secured to the shaft with a key and nut. Therefore, incorrect installation of the part is excluded.

Basically, ignition adjustment is about setting the correct gap between the magneto and the flywheel.

    Trimmer ignition setting

On gasoline trimmers, both two-stroke internal combustion engines (ICE) and four-stroke are used. But the ignition system in them is no different from each other, therefore, the repair and adjustment of this fuel ignition system will be the same for different types of internal combustion engines.

How to check the health of a magneto

Magneto is the main component in the engine ignition system and is a coil with primary and secondary windings located around the core. Often, due to a malfunction of the magneto, the spark on the spark plug disappears and the fuel does not ignite. To check the coil, you will need to use a tester, and follow these steps.

    • On the tester, after switching to the resistance measurement mode, you need to set 200 ohms. In this way, the primary winding will be checked.
    • Connect one electrode of the tester to coil ground and the other to the lead coming out of the magneto. Normally, the resistance should be between 0.4 and 2 ohms.
    • To check the secondary winding, you will need to set the device switch to 20 ohms. Further, one probe of the device is inserted into the candle cap, and the second is connected to the “mass”. Normally, the resistance indicators should be in the range of 4-6 kΩ and above (depending on the model).

When the circuit is open, the device will show infinity, and when closed. 0 (zero).

If you do not have a tester, then you can use the following method, being very careful so that the electrode does not touch the cylinder, otherwise the coil will burn out.

    • Remove the cap from the candle. You do not need to unscrew the candle in order to maintain compression.
    • You must insert a nail into the cap without a cap. The nail should be of such a diameter that it adheres well to the cap.
    • Tie the cap with the nail to the cylinder using a dielectric so that the gap between the electrode and the cylinder body is between 5.5 and 7 mm (but in no case touches the “mass”).
    • Using the starter, simulate the engine start several times. The ignition button must be on.
    • Observe if a spark appears and what color it has.

Normally, the spark should be strong, white or bluish in color. If the spark is weak, and its color is orange or yellow, this indicates a faulty magneto.

You should also consider the fact that sometimes cold magneto can give a good spark. But after heating, due to internal faults, it ceases to produce current. As soon as the coil cools down, the trimmer starts up again and runs for a while until the magneto warms up again. This coil needs to be replaced.

Sometimes a spark plug can cause a similar heating problem even if the coil is OK, so both parts need to be checked.

How the trimmer ignition system works

The ignition system of a two-stroke internal combustion engine consists of 2 elements: a flywheel and a coil (magneto). The picture below shows how they look.

The flywheel has an impeller that acts as a fan to cool the engine. Also on one side of the flywheel are permanent magnets, shown in the figure by an arrow.

When the flywheel rotates, an electric current is generated in the coil, which serves to produce a spark on the spark plug. A spark appears when the magnets are directly below the magneto.

    Ignition adjustment algorithm

Trimmer ignition is quite simple to adjust.

Remove the engine cover from the engine by unscrewing all bolts holding it. For example, on a Patriot (Patriot) PT 2540 lawn mower, to remove the cover, you will need to unscrew the air filter housing, and use a flat screwdriver to remove it from the latches. After that, the plastic case can be easily removed.

  • Using a screwdriver, unscrew the 2 screws (not completely unscrewed) holding the magneto.
  • Turn the handwheel so the magnets are at the top.
  • Further, in order to correctly set the best clearance between the flywheel and the coil, you can use a regular business card or calendar. If you do not have either one or the other at hand, then to set up the ignition, you can use a sheet of A4 paper by folding it 2 times (as a result, you will get a thickness of 4 sheets). This thickness will be sufficient to obtain the optimal clearance and adjust the ignition. Insert a business card or paper between the spool and the magnets.
  • The magnetic field will pull the coil towards the flywheel. While holding the magneto in this position with your fingers, tighten the bolts that hold it.
  • Remove the business card. After that, the ignition on the trimmer will be adjusted.
