Let’s start by choosing the color scheme for the future jewelry. I want to make my set in a nautical style, so I chose white and blue colors of paper quilling strips.

Today I want to tell you a little bit about quilling tools that are used as auxiliary ones, and share some practical ideas on how to put together a necessary set of quilling tools with the help of improvised means.

But I will start with the basic tools. We are already quite familiar with it, this is the same tool with a split tip, which is used to twist rolls.

Since I often have to work with children, and buying a lot of professional tools was not possible, I made tools for quilling with my own hands.

This requires a sewing needle with an “ear” length greater than 5 mm (since I most often use 4 mm wide strips of paper). Having cut the tip of the “ear” of the needle on the knife sharpening machine, we make a suitable “slingshot”, for which we only need to find a convenient handle. At first I tried to use plastic cases from ballpoint pens, but no matter how I tried to fix the “slingshot” there, it would scroll. So I stopped at the cork handle.

By the way, for children, such a small handle is very handy.

The second finding, which I would like to share with you, recommending to make the same device, is a device for making identical rolls. In my quilling classes you may have noticed that very often we need to make elements of the same size, and for this we use a ruler with round holes. But (!)
