I did not consider expensive models like husqvarna, because I am not a professional haymaker.

The sleeve between the handles doesn’t help. It is hollow and made of soft plastic. The manufacturer presents its presence as a feature and work on errors (see the manufacturer’s website).

The handles are well done. Rubber coated. The control is convenient. There is a fuse and the ability to fix the gas.

My task was to mow 13-16 acres in such grass mixed with weeds:

Benzokosa, although with reservations, coped with its task. I only mowed with a disc. It all took 5 liters of 92 gasoline and a little oil.

Further about breakdowns.

The left handle came off almost immediately. The right one, fortunately, is fixed with a screw.

After a couple of hours of use, the carabiner clip fell off on unloading. I wonder who thought of fixing elastic rubber with rivets at the place of dynamic load? Solved the problem by installing two mini-carabiners instead of this latch.

After weighing all the pros and cons, my choice fell on a gasoline two-stroke engine. Among them, the choice is also quite large. What I paid attention to: power (measured in watts or horsepower) and engine displacement. Directly dependent parameters. Of course, the more the better, but keep in mind that more powerful specimens “eat” the fuel mixture more (while they have a larger volume of the fuel tank and generally weigh more.

Part 2 PURCHASE

Looking for a compromise between power / weight / price for a long time, I stopped the CARVER PROMO PBC-52 device with the characteristics: power 3.0 hp. / weight 8 kg /.

Assembling the trimmer is not a complicated process, but it requires attention and perseverance. I will briefly describe it, tk. some points are omitted in the instructions.

We assemble the handle, which consists of two parts, connected by an appropriate bracket:

We attach the reducer to the rod, to the side of the rod where the hole is closer to the edge:

As a result of the performed manipulations, we should get something as follows.

!!IMPORTANT!! Be sure to check that all screw connections are properly tightened and that the cutting tool and guard are properly and securely fastened.

We lay the unit on a flat surface.

First you need to prepare a fuel mixture, the composition of which is oil for two-stroke engines, gasoline. The proportions you are on the package with oil. The manufacturer of this trimmer recommends to overexpose exactly them and any of their own recommendations. The only remark is that for the first start it is recommended to increase the amount of oil by about 10% of the specified rate. Pour the prepared mixture into the gas tank. Set the throttle position lever to the closed position. We pump fuel into the carburetor by pressing the fuel pumping button (in the photo there is a transparent silicone “pimp”), while a mixture should appear in the fuel pipe.

Press the accelerator lever on the handle and fix it with the button to the start position.

Everything from preparation. We pass to the start itself: we sharply pull the starter starter rope handle. We repeat these movements until the first characteristic exhaust appears, after which we move the throttle lever to the “ON” (open) position. Pull the starter rope handle again, the engine should run at increased speed.

PART 5 MAINTENANCE (well, or a little from personal experience)

The key to long-term performance of your trimmer. this is his timely service.

Therefore, I recommend: 1. Removing visible dirt after each work session 2. Cleaning the ventilation windows 3. Lubricating the gearbox (meaning the cavity inside the gearbox) 4. Cleaning the muffler 5. Changing the fuel filter element. 6.cleaning the spark plug or replacing it (if the gap between the electrodes is outside the limits of 0.6-0.7 mm.)

In general, I am satisfied with the unit, the operating experience at the time of writing the review is 1 month, no complaints. In terms of quality, of course, this is not Husqvarna or Stihl, but the price tag here is completely different. Ideal for those looking for an inexpensive, powerful trimmer for their private garden.

When is the use of knives relevant?

When using brushcutters in summer cottages, the most popular attachment is the fishing line. It has a low price, is suitable for different trim heads, and is safe to use. The disadvantage of using a fishing line is that it is convenient only for mowing low growth. In other situations, the string will kick in immediately, regardless of whether a petrol or electric trimmer is used. In addition, vegetation is wound around the spindle, which creates significant resistance on the shaft and leads to its breakage. It can also provoke failure of the piston system in petrol cutters or engine burnout in electric trimmers.

Therefore, for mowing tall or hard vegetation, various attachments are used. So, for harvesting high and coarse grass, thin shoots of trees and shrubs, it is better to install and use a disc. This nozzle clogs much less often, which contributes to the greater wear resistance of the equipment.

On a note! Due to the fact that the engine of electric trimmers and battery models is less powerful than on petrol cutters, therefore the use of discs is more relevant for petrol mowers.

How to install a disc on a trimmer

Attaching the blade to the trimmer is very simple. For this, a complete wrench is used to disconnect the cutting attachment and a pin that locks the gearbox. The procedure is as follows.

• First of all, the electric trimmer should be disconnected from the network, the petrol trimmer should be simply turned off. Disconnect the protective cover and move to the side.
• Next, you need to align the holes on the gearbox and the shaft in order to insert a pin into them and block the drive.
• If a spool with line was used, it must be unscrewed clockwise.
• Then you need to find a nut to twist the knife.

Disc sharpening

Important! For sharpening, only those discs that are not soldered from hard materials are suitable. Such parts are thrown away, and new ones are acquired instead.

To sharpen discs, you must:

• disassemble the trimmer, remove the knives;
• carefully inspect the disc. if cracks are found, it is better to replace the part with a new one, since its further operation is unsafe;
• bent blades can be gently bent with a hammer;
• given the size of the disc, you need to choose the right file for metal, this will ensure more convenient work;
• sharpen all upper cutting edges of the discs at an angle of 30 °;
• reassemble the trimmer in reverse order.

To sharpen the disc, you can use an emery machine at low speeds with a medium grit grinding wheel. With such a tool, the process will move much faster. For safety, you need to wear gloves on your hands, and a protective mask or goggles on your face.
