How to put the disc on the lawn mower

Instructions for installing an SSD in a laptop instead of a floppy drive

Every user would like to install a modern SSD drive on their PC for better productivity and faster system performance. It is incredibly easy to install a solid state drive on your computer, and the process itself is usually not accompanied by any difficulties.

By the way, there was a similar article earlier, but in it we installed an SSD instead of a regular hard drive, for this we just had to remove a small cover on the back of the case, which does not create any difficulties.

But installing an SSD in a laptop instead of a DVD drive is much more difficult, because first you need to carefully disassemble it. And many users are already having difficulties at this stage. So let’s look at the whole process in more detail.

  • What you need to install?
  • How to choose an adapter?
  • Disassembling a laptop
  • Removing the top cover
  • DVD drive
  • Software settings
  • The topic is fully disassembled in this video

Disassembling a laptop

After we have prepared everything you need for replacement and purchased a suitable adapter for the SSD, you can start opening the laptop with the subsequent replacement of the drive.

This can be done as follows:

  • Turn off the laptop and wait until it turns off completely.
  • Turn over and remove the battery.

After the battery is disconnected, you need to remove the installed hard drive.

For this:

  • Unscrew the screws and remove the cover on the other side of the battery.
  • In order to remove the cover, you need to pry it off and lift it.

The hard drive and memory modules are located under the cover. We need to remove the hard drive, since a solid-state drive will be installed in its place.

If you ask why we are installing the SSD here, and not instead of the drive, then there is a simple explanation for this.

When the speed of the bus to which the hard drive is connected is faster (in this case, the hard drive is connected via SATA 3, while the drive is SATA 2), then the SSD is installed in place of the HDD.

To properly remove the drive, you must strictly follow the following instructions:

  • We unscrew the screws with which it is fixed.
  • We move the hard drive to the left and carefully remove it from the case.
  • Then we take out the hard drive from the mounting frame and set it aside. We will come back to it.
  • Install the SSD into the mounting frame.
  • After that, we install our old hard drive into the adapter. It has a small instruction on how to properly secure the hard drive.

We put both drives aside, we’ll come back to them later.

How to choose an adapter?

The size of the drive can be of two types and differ in its thickness. 9.5mm and 12.7mm. Before purchasing an adapter, carefully measure the thickness of your drive and only then buy the appropriate adapter. Otherwise, the SSD drive adapter will simply not fit into the laptop instead of the DVD drive.

disc, lawn, mower

You should also pay attention to the interface through which the drive is connected. If the interface is SATA, then using an adapter with an adapter to mSATA, you can easily put an SSD instead of a floppy drive. But if your DVD drive is connected via IDE, and this is an outdated technology, then to connect the SSD you will need an IDE to SATA adapter.

As mentioned above, adapters differ only in thickness, while their shape and width are the same. The adapter usually comes with a disposable screwdriver, screws for securing the hard drive and a plastic cover. The latter is needed for installation on an adapter to close the free space that forms after removing the drive.

DVD drive

Now unscrew the DVD drive. We’ll need a short screwdriver to remove the screw that secures the drive to the case. After unscrewing it, you can remove the drive without any problems.

Then remove the plastic cover from the DVD drive. To do this, you need to open it. This will require a paper clip or needle. We find a small hole on the front panel of the device and insert a paper clip there. After a slight push, the drive carriage will slide out of the case, and you will get full access to its bottom and can easily separate the plug from the carriage.

Once the plug is removed, it will need to be placed on the adapter.

Next, we remove the bracket that attaches it to the laptop from the drive, and move it to our adapter in the same place.

After that, we install the adapter in the place of the previously removed drive and tighten the fastening screw.

It remains to turn the laptop upside down and install the SSD in the place of the old HDD. We close the cover removed at the beginning of disassembly and tighten the remaining bolts around the perimeter of the device, insert the battery.

How to: Service Lawnmower Brakes

The laptop is now assembled and ready to go. We installed two hard drives: we put the old HDD into an adapter and connected it instead of a floppy drive, and a new solid-state drive was mounted in its place.

What is needed for installation?

First, you should familiarize yourself with the characteristics of your laptop to understand what components you need to purchase. As practice shows, in most modern models with a CD drive, you can easily install an additional hard disk. Therefore, problems should not arise.

Before starting, you should make sure that you have acquired everything you need to fully work.

You will need:

  • 2.5 “SSD drive.
  • Tools for disassembling a laptop. Since all screw heads are the same, a small Phillips screwdriver is often required.
  • A plastic pick, a regular bank card, or any other similar item for opening the case. The main thing is that it should be without sharp corners, so as not to damage the train.
  • (adapter, slide) for replacing a 2.5 ”drive.

Special attention should be paid to the last point, so let’s analyze it in more detail.

Removing the top cover

Now we need to remove the top cover of the laptop by unscrewing all the fixing screws. You should take into account the fact that they come in different sizes and you must definitely remember where they were unscrewed from.

After all the screws have been unscrewed, it is up to the pick. Now you need to separate the bottom and top of the laptop. You need to be extremely careful when opening, as most models have unreliable latches that can easily break. Check again if all the screws have been loosened, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the device case.

To remove the cover, insert the pick into the slot between the top and bottom covers, and slowly turn it to release the latches inside the case. You should start from the front of the laptop, where the indicator lights are located. It is necessary to walk with a pick along the perimeter of the entire body.

After you separate the top cover from the bottom, never lift it up suddenly. Both parts are connected by loops and you could damage them.

When working with some devices, you do not have to disconnect the cables, since sometimes you can replace the DVD drive without removing the top of the device, which can significantly save your time.

Software settings

The next step will be setting up Bios, namely enabling the AHCI mode. This mode allows you to increase the speed of the drive, mainly due to the advantages of the NCQ technology. It also opens up other possibilities, such as hot swapping.

  • We enter Bios. Instructions.
  • Go to the “Main” section and set “AHCI” in the “Configure SATA as” option. The name of the sections may differ in different versions of BIOS, so try to look for similar settings.
  • Save the “F10” settings and restart the PC.

Now you know how to put an SSD in a laptop instead of an old DVD drive, and you can do it yourself without any problems, just following our instructions.

By the way, you can completely transfer the system without losing its performance using special programs, for example, such as Acronis Universal Restore, Macrium Reflect and others. They have wide functionality and will help you in this situation.

Apps from the Microsoft Store

Programs from the Microsoft Store can be easily made to install not on the system drive, but on any other drive. To do this, open “Settings” → “System” → “Device memory”. Click “Change where new content is saved”.

In the window that appears, in the “New applications will be saved here” section, select the required drive and click “Apply”. Now all your Microsoft Store apps will install to a new location.

The programs you downloaded earlier will still be on the C drive, but you can transfer them manually. To do this, open “Options” → “Applications”, select the one you need and click “Move”.

Please note, this only works with programs that you have installed from the Microsoft Store.

How to change the default installation directory of programs in Windows

We place programs and games on a new drive if the space on the system disk is coming to an end.

Often, we don’t have enough space on the C drive, where by default Windows 10 stores programs. And you have to install applications in repositories other than the system one. There is a trick on the Internet. an edit in the registry that forces the system to change the default installation location. However, be aware: this can lead to system errors. Better to use simpler methods.

Now they are reading

Third-party applications

Let’s be honest: despite Microsoft’s best efforts, we still rarely download anything from their Store. As a rule, an ordinary user goes to the site of the program developer, downloads the installer from there and installs the application in the same way as it was done in the good old Windows 7.

In this case, changing the place for the program is quite simple. Download the installer of any application you need. Then start the installation as usual.

When the installer prompts you to choose a path, click “Browse” (or Browse) and specify the drive and folder on it where you want to place your application.

What about already installed programs that fill up the system disk? You can cut the folder with the program on the C drive and copy it to a new media, and then replace the paths to the program in the Start menu.

But this can theoretically also lead to system errors. Therefore, the most reliable way is to uninstall the program through “Options” → “Applications”, and then reinstall it on a new disk.

Games take up a lot of space, and sometimes that’s the only reason to buy an extra large SSD. To change the installation location of projects from Steam, do the following: click “Steam” → “Settings” → “Downloads”. Click the Steam Library Folders button.

Then. “Add folder”.

Select the desired drive and folder. If necessary, you can create a new one right in this window. Click “Select”.

Then click on your new folder and select “Set as default folder”.

Now all new games will be installed there.

If necessary, you can transfer your existing Steam games to a new disc. To do this, close the client and exit it through the tray menu. Then open the folder with the Steam files, by default C: \ Program Files \ Steam. Delete everything from there except steamapps, userdata and Steam.exe.

Cut and paste the entire Steam folder to a new location such as D: \ Games \ Steam \. Then start the client from the transferred folder and go to your account.

Users of the Epic Games Store, GOG, and those who buy games on good old discs, this method is not available. Therefore, the only way out for them is to delete the game and then reinstall it on another drive.

Correspondence table of rim width with tire width

    195/65 R15 91 T

The designation suggests the width of the tire, measured in millimeters (mm).

Percentage of the height of the profile to the width of the rubber. Considering the same width, you will notice that the greater the proportionality, the higher the tire and vice versa. As a rule, this indicator is meant when they talk about a profile.

    R. means that the tire has a radial cord.

wheel / disc diameter. The value is indicated in inches.

    T. designation of the speed index. On it you can navigate what permissible speed can be developed on a given tire.

designation of the load index. This value tells you what is the maximum permissible wheel load.

For each disc, you need to find a personal version of the rubber that fits it. Making the wrong choice can pay dearly for this folly. It is difficult to miscalculate the diameter, because setting the wrong size is problematic. But with the width, there is a chance to be mistaken. If we take too narrow or wide disks, then the design profile of the tire will invariably suffer and its characteristics will deteriorate: quick response on turns and during maneuvers, the stiffness of the sidewall will decrease, and the drag resistance will deteriorate.

The axiom when selecting a disc says: the width of the disc rim must be 25% less than the width of the rubber profile. For the presented size 195/65 R15 91 T, the disc width can be calculated as follows: first, calculate the profile width in inches. 195 divided by the number 25.4 (it means the number in 1 inch mm.) It turns out 7.68 inches. Subtract 25% from this value, and then round off the result. The formula looks like this: 195 / 25.4-25% = 5.76. Rounding up, it turns out that for a given standard size you need a 6-inch disc.

It is permissible to take discs with a deviation in the rim width of no more than 1 “if it is a disc with a diameter of up to 14″. For discs 15 ” and above, the maximum deflection is 1.5 ”.

Why you need to put the knife on the trimmer

A trimmer with a knife mounted on it is most convenient to use for more comfortable mowing of tall and coarse grass in the country. The line on the lawn mower in such cases does not cope. Thin tears very quickly. Using 2.3mm thick cord or homemade rods with cables causes the vegetation to wrap around the spool. This increases the load on the engine. As a result, the piston group and other moving parts of the unit wear out very quickly.

If the weeds are mowed with an electric trimmer without a knife, only a fishing line, even a thick one with a curly section, will not solve the problem. There is always a risk of overheating the motor and damaging the flexible shaft. And it’s all about the large torque of the electric motor. Grass wrapped around the spindle creates a strong resistance to the shaft, which resembles a speedometer cable, which does not withstand and twists.

In order to protect the equipment from premature wear, manufacturers have provided for the possibility of installing special knives on the trimmers. The design and shape of the existing cutting elements allows you to easily cope not only with coarse and overgrown grass, but also successfully deal with young shrub growth.

How to put the knife on the trimmer

With the arrival of summer, many owners of personal plots are worried about the question of how to put the knife on the trimmer. No less relevant are the questions of why and when it is advisable to replace the line on a lawn mower with a more durable cutting element. In our article we will try to disassemble all this and give useful recommendations to summer residents.

What knives to put on an electric and lawn mower

Before buying and putting a knife on a lawn mower, let’s find out what they are and in what cases they are used. Today manufacturers offer the consumer a large number of types of these consumables. In general, all cutting tools designed for mowing grass can be classified:

    • By the type of material from which it is made;
    • By the shape of its cutting blades.

The main material for the manufacture of trimmer knives can be plastic or metal. The use of such consumables largely depends on two parameters:

    • Lawn mowers type;
    • Mowing areas.

For safety reasons, manufacturers do not recommend putting steel knives on electric trimmers. Almost all electric and battery powered lawn mowers are equipped with plastic blades. Depending on the manufacturer, they can be of a solid disc-shaped design, with several blades or in the form of a special mowing head providing for the installation of removable plastic blades.

Straight bar for petrol trimmer and curved for electric

To put a metal knife on an electric trimmer is not allowed by its design features.

    • The curved bar of the machine reduces the distance from its working part to the mower’s feet. In the event of a collision of the blades with a stone or other solid object, the scythe is thrown to the feet.
    • The high torque we mentioned above, in the event of a metal blade hitting a hard object, transfers a large load to the trimmer flex shaft and its motor. What causes them to fail prematurely.
    • The handle of the electric scythe most often does not have a limiting bar acting as a stop. Which does not exclude injury to the legs.

It is these features that make it possible to use exclusively plastic knives on trimmers with electric motors. When hitting an obstacle, the blades are destroyed, thereby protecting the mower‘s legs from possible injury.

Plastic knives do a good job on overgrown and dry grass. They can mow nettles and burdock stalks.

The use of metal knives only on gasoline trimmers is also due to design features.

    • Straight bar design increases leg clearance for complete safety.
    • Comfortable U-shaped and J-shaped handles provide a firm grip. D-shaped handles of lawn mowers are equipped with a limiter that rests on the leg of the mower, which does not allow the head to come close to the feet when the cutting disc meets a solid obstacle.
    • The clutch of the gasoline engine allows for smooth acceleration to the optimum level. And when the blade hits a hard surface, it is able to extinguish part of the impact.

Thus, gasoline trimmers with a metal blade installed are best used in large areas. They will successfully cope not only with high coarse grass, weeds, burdocks and nettles, but also shrubs, as well as young trees.

The shape of the blades of the disc supplied to the trimmer in no way affects the quality of the work performed. Speed does not depend on them either. Triangular, trapezoidal, rectangular shapes are all the marketing ploy of manufacturers.

If you plan on making hay, it is best to use knives with a large number of blades on the mower. Note the discs with eight teeth, or discs with four large blades and four additional blades. Two and three bladed knives will chop the grass hard.

How to put a knife on the trimmer correctly

Putting the knife on the trimmer is not that difficult. The manufacturer completes its tools with a special pin that allows you to block the gearbox and a wrench with which the spool and fishing line are unscrewed. The most important thing is to observe safety precautions and the sequence of assembly and disassembly when changing cutting elements.

The algorithm for setting the knife to the trimmer is as follows:

    • Remove the protective cover;
    • We block the drive. To do this, it is necessary to align two holes. in the shaft hub and in the gearbox cup. After combining them, insert a pin into the holes;
    • We unscrew the spool with line or the fastening nut holding the boot (if the trimmer has not been used yet) from the hub clockwise;
    • Next, we install the cutting knife, so that the slots on the hub washer coincide with the recesses in the hole of the cutting disc;
    • Install the boot;
    • We tighten the fastening nut (counterclockwise) while holding the locking pin;
    • We tighten it using a tubular wrench;
    • Putting back the protective cover.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated. Now you can safely start mowing weeds on the site.

How to change a disk if it is jammed?

What to do if the wheel on the “angle grinder” is stuck? This can happen, for example, when, as a result of work, pieces of the workpiece being cut sharply clamp the rotating disc. This often leads to its destruction.

To unscrew the nut tightened as a result of rotation, if the circle is bitten, it can be very difficult.

    • One of these methods would be to use two gas keys at once. In this case, the remains of the disc must be broken with pliers. With one key, you need to clamp the part of the stem located under the disc, and with the other, unscrew the flange.
    • Sometimes, to gain access to the gas wrench to the rod “angle grinder”, you have to disassemble the gearbox.
    • A simple device saves from the problem of a jammed nut. cardboard or tin washers. They are often sold with an “angle grinder”. But over time, they can be lost or become completely unusable. Making homemade washers is not at all difficult. However, it is better not to neglect them.

In extreme cases, the flange can be sawn with a hacksaw for metal and then replaced with a new one.

    How to install correctly?

Installing a disk on an UMSH is not so difficult. You can change it simply by following the instructions, although there are some nuances here.

    disc, lawn, mower

First of all, you need to install the disc in the correct direction. This is especially important if it is detachable. Usually the side of the disc with the label on which the marking is indicated and, accordingly, the scope of its application, is slightly different from the opposite side. It may not appear immediately, but with prolonged intensive work, the difference will not only be noticeable. it will be obvious.

On the side on which the label is glued, a wide pressure washer is placed, and the movable nut acts on it when tightening (installing the disc). The nut slides on the polished surface of the washer, without it it will become more difficult to tighten or unscrew, since the abrasive will firmly hold the nut and more effort will be required. This is especially important if a quick disc replacement is required or if it breaks down (jamming).

There is always a chance of disc failure, but when installed correctly, it breaks only under heavy loads, the structure of the discs takes into account the difference in loads on both sides.

With circular saws or other products that have teeth or a significant difference in two sides, there is usually no problem how to set. For example, a grinding disc cannot be fixed on the contrary: it will simply be impossible for them to work.

Discs for stone, including diamond ones, have a special rotation indicator in the form of an arrow: when installing them, you need to fasten them taking into account where the rod will rotate.

It is also important to consider the size of the disk when installing. In no case should you neglect safety and remove the protective cover. it is better to choose a disc of the appropriate diameter. Sometimes a worn-out disc from a large unit is placed on a smaller “angle grinder”. However, a worn disc, as a rule, cuts worse, the working surface is limited to about half the radius of the disc, the structure is slightly different. The disc burns faster and does less work. This operation can be justified if the diameter of the stem is the same. But you won’t be able to change it back.

Debris must not get under the disk when installing. Of course, the clamping nut may well squeeze small objects, something will press into the surface of the circle. But an imperceptible skew will cause a displacement of the plane of rotation and, as a result, a strong vibration of the entire mechanism, it can cause the destruction of the disk and, of course, you should not hope for an accurate cut in this case.

Before installing the disc, the “angle grinder” must be disconnected from the mains. this is a basic safety requirement, since a sudden turn on at this time is fraught with serious injuries.

The clamping nut must be unscrewed with the wrench supplied with the tool. To prevent the stem from spinning, it must be locked by pressing a special button. It is necessary to unscrew the nut while holding the button down.

After twisting the nut, the disc is put on the released stem, with the front side out, and you need to make sure that it is installed exactly in the seat.

The kit for the new “angle grinder” always includes a certain amount of cardboard spacers. when installing the disc, they must be laid so that they are between the disc and the clamping elements. These pads will help unscrew a broken or jammed disc.

Further, the nut is manually tightened to the stop and tightened with a special wrench. That’s it, the “angle grinder” is ready to work.

    How to remove it?

Discs, especially those designed for cutting, burn out quickly and have to be replaced.

It will be useful to remind once again about the need to disconnect the “angle grinder” from the network. Work to be done with fast rotating parts and better protect yourself.

If you need to replace a worn disk, you need to perform a number of simple operations.

    • The disc is secured to the stem stem with a threaded nut. In the kit of any angle grinder there is a special key, on the arms of which pins are fixed, which cling to the holes of the flange.
    • The spindle is fixed with a special button, the cotter pin of which, when pressed, enters the hole of the gearbox, thus fixing it. Having pressed the button with your right hand, at the same time with your left hand you need to unscrew the fastening nut with a wrench. If the nut has moved from its place, unscrew it by hand. That’s it, now the disc can be removed.
    • There are times when the key, for some reason, was not at hand. What to do? The easiest way out is to stop working. But, as they say, this is not our method. It is also possible to unscrew the clamping nut of the “angle grinder” without a key. Often a pipe (gas) wrench is used for this. On such a key there is a device that spreads it. It is necessary to tighten the nut and, fixing the “angle grinder” gearbox with a button, move it from its place. Then it can be unscrewed by hand.
    • The nut has holes for fixing it with pins on the key horns, you can unscrew it by tapping with a hammer on a chisel or a bar that is pressed into the hole.
    • It is sometimes possible to push the nut off by simply tapping its edge with a hammer in the direction of twisting. However, in this case, damage to the flange may occur, especially the holes for the pins of the key; in the future, it may be impossible to apply the key to such a nut.
    • A very good result is obtained when using a nail to make a key. It is better to choose a large nail, from 100 mm. Using a hammer and pliers, the nail is U-shaped. With a hacksaw or chisel, the point and head of the nail are cut off. With such an improvised wrench, you can try to knock off the nut. You can bend the ends of such a key, then it will turn into a kind of open-end key, but this will require a lot of labor. You can also insert a gate, for example, a hammer or other nail, into the arc formed by a bent nail.

How to Place a Disc on an Angle Grinder Correctly?

    • How to install correctly?
    • How to remove it?
    • How to change a disk if it is jammed?
    • Advice

The disc “angle grinder” (angle grinder) is one of its main working parts. It is the disc that determines the use of the instrument. With it, this machine can be used to cut, grind or polish various materials. Discs, depending on the purpose, differ from each other: from abrasive grit. for metal, steel milling cutters and circular saws. for wood processing, with diamond dusting. for stone and tiles, all kinds of brushes, brushes and emery wheels. for polishing various surfaces.

The disc “angle grinder” is a consumable material, you cannot save on it in the process of work. The disc will gradually wear out (burn out) and must be replaced. When planning work, you need to be prepared for this and it is better to stock up on several removable disks in advance.

    disc, lawn, mower

    Advice

If you had to use a gas wrench, you must remember about the very powerful shoulder of such a wrench and about the effort that is applied to the “angle grinder” parts. If you do not act carefully, the spindle lock could be ripped off or the gearbox could be damaged.

All manipulations with the disc of the angle grinder must be carried out with the power supply completely disconnected (the plug must be removed from the socket). Any inadvertent pressing of the start button will cause the electric motor to turn on, and the rod rotation speed is very high. In this case, injuries cannot be avoided.

Working with an “angle grinder” involves a lot of waste in the form of metal or wood shavings and dust. Before starting work, you must wear special safety glasses: they will protect your eyes from fragments of the cutting wheel itself in case of jamming and destruction.

Glasses are needed not only as a safety element. If the eyes are protected, more attention can be paid directly to the work of the “angle grinder”, to ensure the correct cut or the choice of the correct mode of operation. This will allow the most efficient use of consumables (cutting wheels), minimize the occurrence of abnormal situations with a biting disc or its destruction.

A protective mask that completely covers the face will perfectly replace glasses. this is especially important for a visually impaired master who wears diopter glasses, on which safety glasses cannot be worn.

The disc on the “angle grinder” can be installed both “away from you” and “towards you”, depending on the direction of rotation and, accordingly, the flow of chips. This does not make a fundamental difference in work. However, the “angle grinder” with a circle “towards itself” when biting the disc tends to jump out of the cut forward, and not on the one who uses it. This is especially important when working with powerful tools, but even a small angle grinder can pose a serious hazard.

A specially mounted extension cord with a plug socket, preferably without grounding, will help to quickly stop the operation of a machine that has escaped from the hands.

“Angle grinder” is a rough tool and it is not worth striving to obtain an ideal surface as a result of its work, the main thing is to make a rough cut, which later, if necessary, can be processed in other ways.

To work without clamps and jamming, it is better not to cut long metal workpieces to the end, leaving 1–2 mm of metal in the cut: they will be easy to break off afterwards, this will practically not affect the quality of the workpiece.

It is better to place small workpieces in a vice or press them with a clamp to a workbench or other reliable horizontal surface. The quality of the cut and safety depend on the density of pressing.

You can watch the following video on how to put the disc on the “angle grinder” correctly.

How to properly install an SSD on a computer and laptop? 3 ways

To improve the performance of your computer, as well as to get rid of the noise during the operation of a laptop or system unit, an SSD drive is useful. a large, fast and quietly working “flash drive”.

Note. The computer will not “hum” if only the SSD is installed. By installing such a device as an addition to the classic hard one, the owner of the computer will not get rid of the noise, but will speed up the work of the “machine” and increase the storage.

In the article, we examined the options for connecting an SSD drive to a desktop PC, as well as installing it into a laptop. From the material you will learn what to do to put a solid-state drive and configure the system for the SSD yourself.

The classic method. replacing the HDD

So, the battery is removed, the cover is unscrewed. Now is the time to pull out the hard drive: the drive is fastened with several screws, they must be unscrewed, and then carefully remove the hard drive from the SATA slot. In this place you will need to install a solid state drive and secure the SSD with bolts. Final installation steps: attach the cover, place the battery, and turn on the laptop.

When a laptop (for example, HP 250 G5) boots up, the user will need to enter the BIOS. There he will see that the system has detected the SSD. Now you need to check in which mode the disk is operating in the tab called Advanced: if not in AHCI, switch the media to this mode and save.

The last step is to install the operating system.

We put an SSD instead of a floppy drive

The preparatory steps are almost the same as those described above. So, the user needs to disconnect the laptop from the network and remove the battery. Then use a screwdriver to unscrew the screw that holds the cover that covers the optical drive compartment.

Under this cover there is a bolt that holds the actuator in place. You will need to unscrew it, press the pedal: the drive will slide out of the connector. Now the drive is easy to get.

Important: to install an SSD instead of an optical drive, you need a adapter that matches the size.

To securely fix the SSD disk, you need to screw four bolts into the disk all the way, put it in the adapter and place it in the SATA socket. A rubber seal will add points to the reliability of fixation.

To prevent the SSD from dangling inside, the “” should be fixed in the case. To do this, you need to twist the drive bracket and put it into the adapter. The shape of the fasteners is different, but the holes are located according to the standard, so the installation should not cause difficulties.

Life hack: so that the connector with the installed SSD (for example, Transcend 370 128GB) does not look artisanal, you can remove the cover equipped with a button from the optical drive. It keeps on latches, which can be easily detached with a credit card or pry off with a fingernail. It remains to attach the cover to the adapter and fix it to the body with screws.

How to connect an SSD to a stationary computer?

It is not difficult to connect the SSD to a desktop computer yourself. To do this, the user will need to de-energize the system unit, as well as disassemble it. To access the PC components and replace or replace the hard drive, you will need to remove the system unit panel.

In some cases, the user will need to parse the entire block. Usually it is required by small-sized models (for example, DELL OptiPlex 3040 SFF).

Life hack: there is a button on the back of the system unit that serves to turn off. You will need to hold it for a few seconds. Do this before disassembling the system unit. At the same time, the PC will not start, since the device is disconnected from the network, but such manipulation will remove static electricity from the motherboard, as well as other internal components of the computer.

The SSD drive is installed in the free space using a special adapter made in the form of a slide and attached with screws. Fasteners are supplied with the drive in the kit. An adapter is required because the form factor of the carrier can be smaller than the dimensions of the slot. For example, a classic tray is designed for a 3.5 “part, and the most common size for solid state devices is 2.5”. like SAMSUNG 2.5 “750 EVO 120GB.

When the disk is delivered, you need to connect the SSD using a SATA cable to the “motherboard”, selecting the appropriate slot on it. Then the SSD should be connected to the power supply, which ensures the coordinated operation of all computer components.

Important: The drive works fastest only if it is connected to a SATA 3.0 slot with at least 6 Gb / s speed. Usually this connector is marked and painted black, so it is not difficult to see it on the board. However, if there are no designations, you should find the documents for the motherboard and find information about SATA in them.

When the disk is delivered, and the system unit is assembled, the SSD needs to be configured for normal operation of the media. To do this, you need to go into the BIOS, find a solid-state drive there and, if this disk acts as an addition to a hard drive, put the SSD first in the list. Thus, the SSD will become the main.

As soon as the installed DSS became the first in BIOS, you should confirm the changes, and then reinstall the operating system. You can simply copy the OS to the media if there is an HDD or the user does not plan to leave the SSD as a system disk.

Attention! If the drive will work as a system disk, you should use the classic, preinstalled Windows configuration tools (usually, the system itself optimizes performance, which extends the life of the media). When the operating system remains on the HDD, the same disk must be marked in the BIOS as the main one.

    Difficulties to face

When installing an SSD or starting a computer / laptop after an upgrade, the user may encounter some difficulties. Most of them are solved at the initial stage.

So, the first thing you should pay attention to when installing an SSD drive yourself (for example, Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB) into a computer or laptop is accuracy. Most housings are made of plastic, so careless actions can damage the skin. For example, the weak point of laptops is the jacks for wires.

Attention! It is better to supplement both a portable and a desktop device with an SSD when the computer warranty is over: any upgrade made by the user can “destroy” the warranty.

How To: Install a disc brake system on a racing mower PT1

If you plan to install the SSD media in the optical drive slot, you must take into account the thickness of the adapter. Most models are available with 12.7 millimeters or 9.5 millimeters. To be sure that the adapter will fit, you need to find out the model of the drive and find its characteristics on the Internet.

A solid-state hard drive (for example, SANDISK 2.5 “SATA 3.0 Plus 120GB) is installed, but the device“ does not see it “? You will need to look into the BIOS again and in the SATA Mode or Advanced item to double-check whether the system is functioning in AHCI. a mode designed to work with SSD.

Please note: in IDE mode, the system recognizes the SSD drive, but some functions that increase the speed of work and increase the “life years” of the hard drive do not work. Therefore, it is worth checking the current mode through the dispatcher. If IDE is set. you need to switch the system to AHCI.

BIOS does not display SSD: 3 reasons

    • The contact with SATA has “come off”: you will need to open the cover and check if the drive is fully inserted into the slot.
    • the problem is in the SSD disk itself. it happens if you bought a used version, or the drive was “lying around” for a long time: it is checked on another PC.
    • outdated BIOS: the problem is solved by searching and updating.

The SSD is installed correctly, everything is displayed, but the computer is still weaving like a turtle and “creaking” when opening Photoshop? The PC is too old. With a dual-core processor, but with 2GB of RAM and a “motherboard” that was released more than three years ago, there is nothing to hope for. Also, performance will not increase if the drive is connected to SATA older than the third version.

How to install an SSD in a laptop?

First of all, the user should create a backup copy of the information that is stored in the laptop. Then. disconnect all wires from the laptop (mouse, headphones and charger), remove the battery by pulling the latches.

To put the drive into a laptop, the user should arm himself with a thin screwdriver and unscrew the screws that are on the back cover of the device. They cover the lid that protects the hard drive and the laptop’s RAM.

Life hack: using a plastic card (credit card, discount card) it is convenient to pry off the cover that covers the RAM and HDD.

    3 ways to install:

    • in place of the HDD;
    • instead of an optical drive;
    • The “tricky” method is to put a solid-state drive instead of a hard one, and install a hard drive in its place. It is suitable if the speed of the bus to which the old hard drive is connected is faster than that of the drive.

Interesting: if there is no free space for the second data carrier, but you want to leave the hard one, the owner of the laptop has the opportunity to purchase a case for the hard drive to connect the SSD via usb. True, this is convenient only if the laptop is used as a desktop device.
