How to trim liquid glass on the table

Flexible glass: How to unpack, lay down and take care of it correctly

How to install flexible glass correctly so as not to damage it in the process? And how to take care of it afterwards? Read about it in the article!

Unpacking, stacking, and proper trimming of the glass

Do not use a knife or scissors to open flexible glass packages. Find the edge of the protective tape and remove it. This way you will not damage the product, leave no scratches on it. Wipe the film from dust, unwind and accurately put it on the table surface with the back side. It should be pressed by moving from the center to the edge of the table.

Pre-wipe the table from dust, dirt, and let it dry. While pressing the film, be careful that it does not bubble. If this happens, lift the item and repeat the procedure.

If it doesn’t fit the size of your table, you can cut it. Use a letter opener. Additionally need to be armed with a ruler, a pen.

Measure the parameters of the table. The edges of the film should not protrude beyond it. Ideally the film should be 3 mm smaller than the tabletop.

Spread out the flexible glass, mark it carefully with a pen.

Cut out the desired piece with a box cutter.

The ideal option is to order flexible glass exactly to the size of your countertop. To do this, measure it and subtract a few millimeters from the resulting figures.

Flexible glass, transparent tablecloth

Flexible glass. made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a temperature-resistant, waterproof material. Has a strong, thick base, has plasticity and transparency. The material thickness varies from 1 to 3 mm. Available in rolls of different lengths.

Flexible glass is already invented and actively used. Modern technology makes it possible not only to digitalize society, but also to introduce innovations in the economic part of life. New material compositions are invented, which improve the quality of reproduced goods and increase people’s comfort. Soft flexible glass began to be used in the economic sphere, replacing them with tablecloths and protecting tables from mechanical damage. About this modern know-how we will now tell you.

Ways to use liquid glass for concrete

There are two methods to protect structures made of concrete and reinforced concrete from water with silicate mixes. to coat the concrete with watery glass or introduce it into the concrete mortar during the production of an entire structure. Let’s see, due to what forms a protective barrier when applying the composition to the surface, and what gives liquid glass in concrete.

The addition of

Why add liquid glass to concrete? The introduction of potassium and sodium silicates into the concrete mix makes it possible to obtain a material which, after drying, is characterized by a reduced cross-section of capillaries and pores. Integral structures made of such material are characterized by low water absorption coefficient, high strength and resistance to water and thermal shock.

When adding aqueous glass in concrete is fundamental to observe the proportions: silicate solution should be less than 2-5% of the total mass. Exceeding the specified norms leads to a deterioration in the mechanical properties of the concrete. it becomes extremely brittle.

Concrete with the addition of silicates is used in the construction of hydraulic structures, also for the arrangement of:

  • foundations of buildings on water-saturated soils and areas prone to waterlogging;
  • foundations of fireplaces, outdoor hearths, home stoves;
  • wells and septic tanks;
  • indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

Cement-sand mortar with silicates added is used for repairs in emergency situations. it sets up in a short time, forming a hydrophobic material, and allows you to eliminate leaks.

External treatment

Silicates dissolved in water, when pouring the concrete with waterglass get into the upper layers of the structure through the pores, move through the capillaries. Silicates crystallize on contact with the cement binder. The resulting chemical reaction is water-soluble and resistant to acids.

Surface treatment is done to protect against water:

  • foundation bases;
  • Walls and floors in wet rooms, basements, ground floors;
  • balconies and ceilings;
  • The interior surface of concrete tanks, wells, one-piece bowls of swimming pools, etc.д.
  • Wipe the surface of the film with a damp cloth before use.
  • Place the film with the edges folded up. No additional fastening is required.
  • When laying on a glass, glossy or polished surface, air voids may occur under the film. To avoid such an effect, it is recommended to put a sisal cloth under the film, which can be purchased in flower stores, picking up the color you need.For glass and plastic surfaces:Try to smooth out air voids under the film with the palm of your hand or with a damp cloth, first moistening the surface with water or a weak soap solution.
  • Your film has been cut with a margin, t.к. Within 1-1.5 months there is a 2-4 cm stretch per meter. Such tightening is only one time.A belt designed for surfaces longer than 1.5 meters can have a longer tightening time of up to two months.
  • Trim the film to the final size by yourself, when the cut reaches a stationary state, not earlier than a month from the time of laying on the surface.

Secure the tape tightly to the surface. Draw a fishing line behind the table outline, so that when cutting the ink does not remain on the foil.

It is preferable to use the green handle, because the green handle is the best.к. It washes off better.

Using a stationery knife, carefully, along the pre-marked contour, cut off the excess foil. Use a cutting board to protect the surface. It is convenient to use a ruler when cutting in a straight line.

Greetings to all who looked at my review!

Those who were born in the ’90s and earlier probably remember glass-covered desks at home. Under this glass our parents used to put our class schedules, memos, etc. I had cheat sheets with formulas for various subjects on them.Back then, in the 90s, there was no internet and we wrote everything on pieces of paper by hand.)

Now the furniture is even worse quality than before.All these Laminated chipboard and even Fibreboard are pretty quick to wear out from use, rubbing off. Our old desk fell into disrepair for this reason.Grated to the holes, there were chips, literally exposed sawdust)

Now we bought the kids a new corner of the schoolboy.

Walking through the school one day, to my son’s office, I noticed that (in elementary school) parents bought transparent tablecloths for the tables.

It’s kind of nice.but something’s wrong. The tablecloths are thin, all twisting, shifting. It’s for work and art.they’re good, they’re protective. but in general.Not the right coat, I don’t like it. Although the idea is interesting.

I asked the teacher. where did you buy those tablecloths. She said.My parents bought them somewhere. They are thin-0.8 mm, and not expensive.in the neighborhood of 300 And also complained.that they shift, they’re not comfortable for children.

And she uttered this phrase.”If they had thicker, more expensive tablecloths, that would be great. But such tablecloths are expensive, about 2000.”

“Two thousand.”?I was surprised.”Yes,” said the teacher. Good, durable “liquid glass” tablecloths. That’s how they stand. I have a similar one in the kitchen on the table. 2mm thick, priced at 1,800. But it’s really like glass.It fits like a glue, it doesn’t move or move, it protects the table.

I wanted it in the 12,050s. But these were not, were 12060 cm.

Looked at Ozone, Wildberries, Sbermegamarket. From Aliexpress did not have time to wait.By the time it arrives, the kids have already had time to mangle the table)

I immediately decided that the thickness I need 2 mm, no less. I found the size I needed (12060 cm) on Sbermegamarket. But it cost 1760, and that’s supposedly on discount.

The good thing was that I had 1158 bonus points from past purchases, Sbermegamarket charged me another 200 points a week ago (as a gift), and even bonus points from Sberbank Thanks was about 700 points. And that’s what you can pay for there.

I made up my mind. I think I’ll buy two things at once. Cover on the children’s couch. the baby sofa cover that I’ve been wanting for a long time. and this glass.The discount for these points was very good. and the tablecloth came out to me at a total of 586.

It was very, very cool. It came quickly, literally in two days.

When I came to get it, I realized that I hadn’t made a wrong choice.

trim, liquid, glass, table

EPOXY and WALNUT CHESS BOARD//NEW TECHNIQUE//LIQUID GLASS//Liquid Glass & Walnut End Grain

The tablecloth was rolled up in a tube, and that tube was very heavy.

“But it means the tablecloth is thick and good. I guess so.”).I thought.

and I left an extra five centimeters in the front to better protect the edge from damage. I could have cut it off. But I changed my mind, t.to the tablecloth. hanging down, it doesn’t interfere with anything, not my elbows, not the table. It’s comfortable to sit on, and the corner of the table is extra protected from chipping and all sorts of influences.

Now our table is not afraid of the liquid, and hot tea. (I hope it won’t be here, t.To the kids already poured the keyboard once). But still, with a tablecloth like this the table is the most protected.

Well, and hopefully it will be additionally protected from chips.

The tablecloth is thick and heavy. Fits like a glove, and does not think to slip down. And it is additionally pressed by the monitor and printer.

All in all, superrrrrr! Delight! I am very, very happy. I’m glad I didn’t go for the cheapest price and made the right choice.

I highly recommend this tablecloth for both the desk and the dining table. I am sure you will not regret your choice! Me and the kids.ecstatic.

Who wouldn’t say anything about “Traffic Light”, but I love this store chain, there is something you can not buy anywhere else, and even at very reasonable prices. And sometimes, so in general, you can find something very cool.

We already have “flexible glass” tablecloths. And on the kitchen table and on the coffee table in the living room, they have been around for a few years and are happy with their excellent properties. They come in completely transparent and with a pattern. But the for such a tablecloth are not particularly pleasing, especially before, when they first appeared. Now you can still find it at a reasonable price, even seen on Wildberries. But, going to “Svetofor”, I saw the most attractive option, cheaper I have not come across.

  • Flexible Glass PVC Thermal Cloth
  • Made in China
  • Dimensions. 120×80, thickness 0.50mm
  • Cost. 283.90₽
  • Where to Buy. “Traffic Light.”

They were there very intelligently and accurately, lined with paper so that they do not stick together, just take and roll up the desired number of sheets. I got 3 of them at first, then I went back and got 2 more for the cottage to cover the kitchen worktop there.

The size is the same as advertised, but always keep in mind that these types of oilcloths shrink over time, so it makes sense to leave a small allowance. A few years ago we took one for the kitchen table and cut it exactly to the contour of the table. In the end, it’s a little shrunken now, not critical, but still.

That’s why you should leave half a centimeter for shrinkage.

The tablecloth has a sticker with information about the importer, composition, size and thickness, not very printed, but readable. The tablecloth is heat resistant, I’ve put a hot frying pan on it and it’s fine. I have a stove and a mini stove on it.

But most importantly, why did I get the oilcloths? window sills at home. Anyone who has flowers or anything else on plastic windowsills knows how hard or even impossible it is to get stains out of them. I don’t understand what kind of material it is and why it gets so badly absorbed. Even the dust and soot from the micro-ventilation blows into the plastic profiles and especially the window sills, leaving indelible stains. Every time I pour liters of domestos and scrub with a brush to remove the gray and yellow stains. I even started to put some big thermal mats under the pots to avoid those stains. Well, and after the sprouts, window cleaning turns into hell.

Anyway, when I saw the transparent oilcloths, I knew exactly where I’d put them!

This is the kind of stains ⬆️ stay on the window sill even after I wash it with window cleaners. I live in a “Stalinka” house, the house is old, built in the early 50’s, so all the windows are different sizes, window sills are also very wide. When they put in the new frames, the window sills were the same size, but they didn’t make them any smaller.

For this reason, it took an entire sheet of thermal tablecloth for one window sill, plus allowances on the sides and for tucking under the window sill.

I left more on the sides to cover the sides of the window from the dirt. All this is not hard to do, the tablecloth lies flat and does not slip from the surface, it kind of sticks. Just in case I pressed it down with some heavy jugs anyway, so that it would lie flat.

At the bottom left more allowance to twist a tablecloth “Flexible glass” and fasten it under the window sill.

Then I just glued a strip of duct tape and fastened it under the window sill. I made it a long time ago, everything is still hanging on as nailed down.

The look is just great. The tablecloth is completely transparent, you can barely see it on the windowsill, just shiny. Although now I’ve seen different tablecloths on the market, including those with a matte finish, like a sandblasted pattern on the glass, I liked this option too, maybe later I will take it.

Now I do not have any dirt on the windowsill, because with this tablecloth everything can be easily washed with a damp cloth. The tablecloth does not interfere with the opening of the window either, of course. It’s thick, but not too thick. 0.5mm, I’ve seen different thicknesses on the market, including very thick ones for kitchen tables.

At home I have a tablecloth of the same thickness on my kitchen table for many years, and it is still new and undamaged. On polished furniture, such a transparent tablecloth does not lay down very well, it seems that there are wet spots under it, it is very difficult to lay it without these bubbles. And on all other surfaces, it’s perfect.

Over time, it gives a little shrinkage, so you should initially leave a small allowance of a few millimeters.

And the kitchen tablecloth is a little darkened in places where people sit. But I took it off and cleaned it properly with domestos and a regular sponge, the stains are gone.

You don’t need additional mats with this tablecloth, it protects the surface from a hot mug or plate on its own. It is also easy to wipe with a normal cloth, and once every few months you need to take it off and wash it properly with a detergent. Such tablecloths are very durable, of course, if you do not cut the loaf with a knife on them, and use a board.

Transparent without a pattern is perfect if you do not want to cover a beautiful table, for example, or like me. a white window sill. And the ones with a pattern can decorate an ordinary plastic kitchen table. It looks like a drawing on the table, not on the tablecloth. Cloth tablecloth is good, but impractical, and the usual kitchen tablecloth is practical, but it looks cheap and is not as durable as a tablecloth “Flexible glass.

Bottom line, this is a chic purchase, very practical and inexpensive, which will last for many years. Sold such tablecloths are now everywhere, with different thickness, with or without a pattern, you can choose for every taste. Suitable for almost any surface. Kitchen table, window sill, I’m thinking of putting one on my cosmetic nightstand. It won’t be visible, and wiping off dust and spilled powder will be much easier.

The disadvantages over the years of using such tablecloths I have not noticed, and the advantages are many:

Silicone table liners

For the convenience of using thick film on the corners of the table you can attach special silicone corner pads. They additionally prevent premature deterioration of furniture.

The corner covers are useful for families with small children, they will prevent injuries on sharp corners.

How to take care of the product

A tablecloth of the “flexible glass” type does not require any special care. In principle it is enough to wipe it with a sponge or a cloth, but it is desirable that the surface is not fluffy. For removing grease stains, you can use household detergents, available in any home.

Tablecloths “soft glass” are relatively new on the market, but have quickly gained popularity and become a valuable aid in surface protection. In addition, such tablecloths have the ability to make a special accent to the kitchen interior.

It is sufficient to wipe it with a sponge or cloth, but preferably its surface should not be fluffy.

  • Transparent film on a metal or wooden table is also a good solution
  • Thick transparent film is also suitable for a plastic table in a child’s room.

3) Make an aqueous solution of liquid soap in the ratio of 1:5, where you take 1 part soap to 5 parts water. 4)Generously spray it all over the surface of the countertop. 5) Carefully place the film on the table, check how it fits around the edges. All corners and roundings should match.
