Petrol Trimmer Doesn’t Gain Speed

Trimmer stalls

When buying a brushcutter, you need to be prepared for the fact that, like in all other similar tools, breakdowns may also appear in it that will require repair.

But you should not immediately run to the service center and pay large sums to the craftsmen, convincing you of a severe malfunction in the device.

Trimmer stalls at high revs on gas

Perhaps the more common complaint related to gas trimmers is: “trimmer stalls. “

Naturally, a rather severe malfunction may also be a prerequisite for this. The two-stroke trimmer engine does not develop revolutions stalls. Trimmer fs 130 you give gas stalls. But in most cases the situation is even simpler than it seems at first glance.

To cope with such a problem, first, try to understand its causes without the help of others, because after finding out the reason, it is even easier to fight the problem, and from time to time it will even self-destruct.

Petrol Trimmer Doesnt Gain Speed

In fact, the circumstances, this is when the brushcutter stalls at high speeds, there are quite a few of these circumstances.

Why is the Chinese brushcutter not developing momentum?

Trimmer not gaining revolutions, very frequent problem and of course not always has the usual solution. In this.

Motokosa is not gaining momentum, cause malfunctions and its elimination

1st launch of the newest gas mowers.He removed the grid from the silencer, began to work.

Another is the presence of malfunctions in the power system.

In this case brushcutter will stall at idle. The champion stalls at the speed. Trimmer goodluck 4300 stalls at the speed of the. The mower stalls when you press the gas. At high speeds, the motokosa stalls. Misalignment or improper carburetor adjustment can lead to problems with the power system.

Vibrations that occur during the operation of the brushcutter can lead to misalignment.

Incorrect adjustment of the brushcutter can be corrected by simply adjusting it in accordance with the requirements specified in the operating instructions.

In addition, sometimes gasoline trimmers may stall due to the valve located in the gas tank cap simply clogging or sticking.

To find out, try using a scythe by loosening the gas tank cap.

If the device works properly in this mode, clean the valve.

Some tricks of working with a gas trimmer.

The summer season has come, and petrol scythes have habitually rattled out on personal plots. Great tool, powerful and mobile. With the help of a gasoline trimmer, you can also cut the grass and get rid of dried weeds. However, there are cases that the brushcutter does not start, works intermittently or does not develop full power. There is certainly no time for work! And as the saying goes, better dorgaesh starter handle than mow.

Difficulties with launching arise not only in those who have seen the types of motokos, but also in new ones. How to be in this situation? There is only one way out. To heed the advice of experts and take advantage of their practical experience!

You bought yourself a new gas trimmer and you immediately got into trouble. Very bad start. If you mow a little and then turn it off, then turning it “on hot” is an even bigger problem than “on cold”. What to do with it, I won’t know how to start it right?

The instruction for the motokosa plant sounds like this:

1. Turn on the ignition.

2. Pump fuel with a silicone button (primer) located at the bottom of the carburetor. It is necessary to do as many clicks (or a little more) as written in the instructions, usually about 8-10.

3. Close the choke.

4. Secure the throttle lever with the stop button at higher speeds.

5. Pull the starter handle 2-3 times. The engine should “grab.”

If the engine “grabbed” and stalled, then you need to put the choke in position 1/2 and try to start again. If the engine starts, then we dump the gas and put the air damper in the “open” position. Getting started.

Performing fuel pumping manipulations, one should not be afraid to overfill it. If this happens, and, as they say, “poured candle,” that it is not necessary to unscrew it, it is sufficient to transfer the choke in the “open” position and hold full throttle, at the same time to scroll through the engine starter 2-4 times. After that, you can start the engine and get to work.

The time of continuous operation of the brushcutter is indicated in the trimmer instructions. On average, we mow for 15-20 minutes, after which we muffle the trimmer and let it cool for 3-5 minutes. Also, the duration of continuous operation is exerted by weather conditions. In hot weather, when mowing tall grass, weeds, under heavy load, the trimmer overheats faster.

Many problems with motokosa arise due to improperly prepared fuel mixture. In two-stroke engines, lubrication is done with special oil (not ordinary motor oil!) Mixed with gasoline. If the oil is not mixed with gasoline, then the brushcutter will quickly fail. Oil / gasoline is mixed in the proportion indicated in the trimmer instructions. This is usually 1:40 or 1:50.

The question often arises: the proportion of 1:50 is how much oil and gasoline?

The numbers mean the following: fifty parts of gasoline are taken per part of the oil. Hence: 1000 ml (1 liter of gasoline) is divided by 50, we get 20 ml, i.E. 1:50.

Thus, the composition of the fuel mixture (gasoline / oil) in any proportions can be calculated. To add oil to gasoline not “by eye”, it is advisable to take a 20 ml medical syringe, draw oil into it and “inject” into the tank to prepare the fuel mixture.

For the period of engine break-in (this is approximately the work of the trimmer on 2-3 tanks), the amount of oil can be increased. For example, mix it with gasoline in a ratio of 30: 1.

A small amount of oil mixed with gasoline leads to increased wear of the piston-cylinder group. An excess of oil in the mixture, although not so fatal, but also harmful. Coking of the piston rings, rapid formation of soot in the combustion chamber, and a drop in engine power can occur. In addition, the coke screen of the muffler is coked. Therefore, some users (after the end of the warranty period for the trimmer) recommend dismantling it.

The gasoline used in the motokosa is AI 92. The brand of gasoline is precisely prescribed in the operating instructions. Do not try to “force” the engine by pouring 95th gasoline into it. This can lead to overheating, unstable operation of the trimmer and breakage.

It is not recommended to leave fuel in the trimmer tank during a long break in work. It is better to finish the working day, having fully worked out the whole mixture. If this is not done, then, because during the night the gas from the engine will evaporate and a thin film of oil will remain, the carburetor jets may become clogged. This will cause difficulties the next time you start the engine.

It is also necessary to observe safety precautions when storing fuel. Many pour gasoline into a plastic water bottle. Is it worth it?

In no case should gasoline be stored in plastic containers from under water. When mixing the fuel mixture, a static charge builds up, you can catch a spark.

Therefore, at gas stations they are not allowed to refuel gasoline in plastic cans, only in metal ones. Before pouring gasoline into a metal canister, it is better to put it on the ground, so the static is removed from the body.

But there are situations when simple manipulations with a motokosa do not help. The engine still does not start. In this case, we check the power supply and ignition system, guided by the rule “the engine does not work if there is nothing to burn or nothing to set on fire.”

Gas trimmer loves cleanliness. It is necessary to monitor the cleanliness of the air filter and fuel. It is better to stand for gasoline purchased at a gas station for 2 days and pass it through the simplest filter. A piece of bike stuff.

We check the electrical equipment as follows:

1. Unscrew the candle, inspect the gap between the electrodes. We set the correct gap between the electrodes in the “grandfather” way. We take a razor blade, scrap it in half and insert a makeshift probe between the electrodes. If the blades fit tightly, then the gap is ideal.

2. We put a cap of a high-voltage wire on the candle and lean the candle against the metal surface of the engine. We pull the starter several times. If the spark strikes well at one point, then the gap is adjusted correctly. If not, the spark is weak or “wandering”, then it is necessary to re-adjust the gap between the electrodes.

Also in electrical equipment, an ignition coil may be punched. In this case, the brushcutter does not start or starts and works intermittently, and then stalls, or does not start up to “hot” at all.

You can check the serviceability of the coil in the same way as when checking the spark: we unscrew the candle, lean it against the body of the trimmer. If there is no spark when the starter is jerked, or it appears every other time, the coil must be changed.

If everything is in order with the electrical equipment, then we check the carburetor.

Vacuum carburetors are placed on trimmers. When disassembling, cleaning or rinsing, you must be extremely careful. In no case do not disassemble the lower part of the carburetor, where the primer is located. The air filter (it is visible if the protective cover is removed from the carburetor) must be washed with detergents. Best for washing dishes. After drying, put back. We wash the carburetor with clean gasoline and purge all the holes with a pump. We also rinse the gas line filter, then dry and assemble everything. Usually, after all the manipulations, the trimmer starts to work.

Thin cable instead of fishing line, is it worth it to put on a scythe?

This idea comes to the mind of almost everyone who had to mow 10 acres overgrown with tall grass. At first glance, the idea seems good. The cable is stronger than the fishing line, it does not wear out so much. However, not all so simple.

If you put the cable in place of the fishing line, without the possibility of releasing it, securely fixing the two ends of the cable and cutting them off by welding (a drop of molten metal keeps the cable from blooming). Such a tool “knocks” grass at a time. Cutting off the shoot to about a finger thick. Stones are not as afraid as a disc. There is a truth, a problem: pieces of wire rope break off during wear, and these twisted wires remain in place of mowing. If you step on them, you can get hurt.

But the pieces of cable left on the field are half the trouble. The fishing line, breaking off, weakens dynamic impacts on the transmission and engine, the cable does not give such an opportunity. The result is quick wear of the brushcutter.

Any braid has a knife on the protective cover that cuts off excess fishing line after winding, and the cable can no longer be cut. If part of the cable breaks off, then as a result there is an imbalance, increased vibration. Bottom line: the shaft drive bearings are broken.

You also need to remember that a piece of cable unwound by centrifugal force during rotation of the trimmer head flies like a bullet. Imagine what will happen if he gets in the leg or someone in the eye?

The use of a cable, wire, multicore cable instead of fishing line leads to a quick breakdown of the trimmer. In addition, this is a direct violation of safety precautions!

Experienced users recommend buying a fishing line with an asterisk profile. Compared to a round one, it mows much better; stems with a finger thickness of a fishing line with a diameter of 3 mm cut into a light, and less is consumed.

What to do if the gas trimmer is not gaining momentum?

If you once purchased a trimmer that works with gasoline, then you probably had to deal with the problem of turning on the trimmer, as well as with such a problem as the petrol trimmer is not gaining momentum.

That is why this article was created.

So what to do if the trimmer that has been working for you for several years now suddenly just stops gaining momentum and the motor simply stalls? In this case, you and I should consider a number of problems associated with stopping the motor.

The motor may stall under various circumstances. Sometimes the cause of incorrect operation of the trimmer running on gas is the clogging of the air filter.

That filter is one of the main reasons why the gas trimmer may stop working.

Different debris very often gets into it, dust particles get there, which also clog the filter, so it needs to be cleaned and washed every month, and maybe more often, it all depends on how much power the gas trimmer has, and also how much Often you use this device.

If you have done the filter operations, but the operation of the trimmer powered by gasoline has remained the same, the petrol trimmer is not gaining momentum, what should I do?

Then you should try to remove the filter from the device in order to provide the so-called “relief” of the trimmer. Should help.

The next and rather common problem when working with a gas trimmer is that it simply stalls and does not give any signs of life.

In this case, the problem may be as follows:

The last and most common reason for the breakdown of the gas trimmer is that the cable, which is located in the carburetor section, simply slept.

Therefore, make sure that it is well tensioned in advance, but not to the limit, otherwise if the load on the gas trimmer is too heavy, this small cable may crack and then you will have to contact a service center and then throw a lot of money into the wind.

Reasons and Repair

I want to share my experience in restoring the required power of a trimmer with a gasoline engine.

One day in early June, I began to notice that my trimmer model GT22GES (manufacturer “ECHO”) began to lose its former power.

In the process of work when mowing grass, even with a slight increase in load (grass is taller and denser), the speed fell and the work efficiency was no longer the same as it was before.

Previously, the trimmer did not notice such obstacles at all. With a sharp click on the “trigger” without load, the speed increased slowly, as if reluctantly.

I took the user manual for the trimmer, found in it the section “Faults and their elimination.” I chose a suitable fault in the table, which is described something like this: “The engine is not accelerating well or is damping.”

Possible causes include contamination of the air filter, fuel filter, clogged fuel tank drainage hole, spark plug, carburetor, clogged cooling system, clogged exhaust channel or muffler.

As it turned out, the list of possible reasons is extensive. Where to start?

First I looked visually at the air filter, drainage hole, air radiator, all this turned out to be in good condition.

Then he decided to look from the end of the list, that is, check the exhaust system. The exhaust channel and the muffler.

To do this, removed the spark plug tip, unscrewed 3 screws and removed the plastic muffler protective cover (in the drawing in the Manual under No. 15). Then, unscrewing the two long screws, carefully removed the muffler, so as not to damage the two gaskets that are present there.

Premonition did not deceive me. The exhaust channel of the engine cylinder (through which exhaust gases exit the cylinder) was 30 to 40 percent clogged with soot.

So that was the cause of my trimmer’s frustration!

It looks like the exhaust channel

Carefully, so as not to damage the piston surface and to prevent foreign products (in other words, the very soot) getting into the cylinder, I completely cleaned the exhaust channel of soot, carefully blew the channel with a pump.

I used a knife as a tool (but only at the edge of the canal), and in the depth of the canal I used a wooden and plastic spatula of suitable sizes.

The silencer turned out to be pretty clean both inside and out.

After the assembly, I started the trimmer, warmed it up a bit and tried to mow. The engine worked like new, the power increased noticeably, it didn’t mow the grass, but chopped (3 mm fishing line).

It’s nice that the device began to work perfectly and doubly pleased that he was able to find a malfunction and fix it.

It is likely that such a problem may occur in other models of trimmers, because the design for them is approximately the same for all and all trimmers have an exhaust channel and a silencer.

Why do the revs fall on the trimmer

This common problem has a number of different causes. During operation with the device, one may encounter both obvious malfunctions, the signs of which are clearly traceable, and asymptomatic cases. The first option is the simplest from the point of search for the problem. If the trimmer is not gaining momentum and there are no clear signs of breakage, then you will need to consistently check the most typical cases of malfunctions, and if a cause is found, eliminate it.

Common reasons for cutting the brushcutter at reduced speed

The problem, when the brushcutter is not gaining momentum, is found mainly in gasoline units. This affects the technique of various models, for example, Husqvarna, Champion, Stihl.

With quality products, such problems are less common than with cheap ones from unknown manufacturers.

Some of the structural elements with which problems may be associated are available for visual inspection, and to check the functioning of the remaining nodes, it will be necessary to disassemble the brushcutter.

Low quality fuel

The trimmer does not develop speed if it is filled with low-quality fuel. For this reason, the engine may do not start at all or work in jerks», Changing the speed of rotation of the knife or fishing line.

To independently determine the quality of the gasoline used, perform the following steps.

  1. With a special key, remove the candles.
  2. Inspect their work contacts for the presence of red brick plaque: if there is one, then the fuel used contains significant inclusions of additives.

Candles in general often act as indicators to identify problems with the combustion chamber of a gasoline engine, because they can be quickly removed and inspected.

If a plaque is detected, it is necessary to drain the fuel poured into the tank and replace it with a quality one. The used brushcutter must only be refueled with gasoline brands that are indicated by the manufacturers in the operating instructions. It is also a must clear candles from plaque before installation in place.

Air or fuel filter contamination

Another common reason for reducing the number of revolutions on the trimmer is the contamination of its air or fuel filters. In the first case, the problem is that the fuel-air mixture entering the combustion chamber not saturated with oxygen, as a result, not all gas burns. This does not allow the motocosa to develop maximum power.

In order to check whether the air filter is really to blame, you need to remove it (having previously unscrewed the cover for this) and turn on the brushcutter. If it works fine, then instead of a clogged filter element, you need to insert a new one.

If the situation has not changed after the actions taken, then you need to pay attention to the fuel filter. The essence of the problem is similar to the previous case, but instead of a lack of oxygen little gas comes for normal operation of the device. To correct this problem as easy as changing the filter element. Air and fuel filters are inexpensive. It’s easy to change them yourself, and all the work does not take much time.

It should be noted that without the fuel filter it is forbidden to operate the trimmer with instructions; otherwise, it will be necessary to repair the piston assembly in a short time.

Problems with spark plugs

With continuous use of the brushcutter, the spark plugs become dirty and worn out over time. To check this, they are removed and examined for carbon deposits. The problem can be solved in two ways: if possible, restore the old candle, or simply install a new one in its place.

In the first case, they act like this:

  • Unscrew and wipe the candle from the fuel;
  • Dry it without calcination;
  • Using a file or fine sandpaper, carbon deposits are removed from the candle and the gap between the electrodes is checked (should be 1 mm);
  • Picking up a trimmer;
  • Make a brushcutter.

If the candle does not give out a spark after reconstructive manipulations at the required distance between the electrodes, then you will need to check connection quality elements of the electrical circuit of the device. When the wires are in full order, you will need to definitely install a new part.

Replacing candles is a simple process that is cheap, and if you manage to restore the old ones, then it’s completely free. For work, you only need a candle key and a file.

If there is regular rapid pollution and wear of candles, then you need to look for the problem of these abnormal phenomena deeper.

Engine problems

If everything is in order with the fuel, filters and spark plug, the next source may be a gasoline engine. It may have the following mechanical failures:

  • Carburetor issues
  • Problems with the drive mechanism of the engine.

There is a small cable in the carburetor section. It may subside and lead to the problem in question. Therefore, when engaged in a carburetor, you should first check cable condition, and tighten if necessary (but not to the limit). The main thing is not to overdo it with a stretch so that it does not crack under load.

Ropes in the carburetor

After you need to check carb settings, which must comply with the parameters given in the instructions. If they are installed correctly, but there is no desired effect, then you should disassemble the part, rinse, clean, blow all its strokes with the pump and assemble it back. The carburetor itself must be free of mechanical damage.

If it is impossible to independently restore the carburetor, it is better to replace it with a new part or resort to the services of professionals.

In the case when adjusting or replacing the carburetor does not give the desired result, it is necessary to clean the drive mechanism and grease the cable located inside it.

Malfunctions associated with the engine can be eliminated with your own hands if you have the required skills, but it is better to use the services of a service center for this. Its experts will conduct a comprehensive diagnosis of the trimmer and establish the exact cause of the drop in speed.

Failure in the fuel circulation system

Violation of the normal circulation of fuel on the trimmer also leads to the fact that the brushcutter does not gain working speed. This can be caused by such main reasons:

  • Air leaks caused by cracks in the hoses;
  • Clogging of the gas pump, which occurred due to the use of low-quality fuel or due to the formation of sediment at the bottom of the tank and getting it into the system;
  • Muffler or catalyst contamination.

On your own to resolve the problems you need to do the following:

  • Sort out the gas pump, removing pollution;
  • Replace pipes and hoses, which circulates fuel;
  • Clean the muffler and mesh on it;
  • To put a new catalyst, which will be expensive because of the content of precious metals in it.

All troubleshooting work in the fuel circulation system can be done independently. But it should be done carefully so as not to lose parts, or after assembling the braids there are no “extra” ones left.

Possible causes of malfunctions in electric braids

When operating the trimmer, on which the electric motor is installed, problems also arise with a set of revolutions. But they are caused by completely different malfunctions, in comparison with fuel braids. The electric motor does not develop the required rotation speed in such cases:

  • If the voltage in the mains is lower than the rated value for the electric motor by more than 10%;
  • In case of malfunctions in the soft start system (if this unit is installed);
  • When there are problems with the brush assembly;

Electric brush assembly

  • In case of burning motor windings;
  • If wedging of rotating parts occurs.

In order to exclude voltage problem, it is required by a multimeter or tester to check its value in the outlet from which the power of the electric braid is taken. If it is less than the minimum acceptable value, then to increase it, you will need to turn off all electrical appliances or install a stabilizer.

A prerequisite necessary for the normal operation of the trimmer is the use of an extension cord with a cross-section of conductors corresponding to the power of the engine of the braid.

For soft starter unit repair you will need to have the appropriate knowledge of electronics, so it is better to contact a service center. They will determine its maintainability or the need for replacement. You can independently check the button or find the block diagram and try to figure it out.

Soft starter

Brushes may wear out, as a result the contact will disappear, which leads to motor stops. Brushes are easy to replace. Features of the process are determined by the model of motokosa used. Along the way, you will also need to clean all contact surfaces.

When burning windings, if you continue to mow grass or shrubs, the electric motor will quickly burn out. This will be accompanied by the appearance of a burning smell, up to the melting of individual parts. You will need to replace the electric motor.

Jamming of rotating parts occurs for various reasons. To identify and eliminate them, you will need to sort out the drive unit. There are models in which the number of revolutions is automatically adjusted depending on the load, increasing as it increases. Their idle speed decreases.

The shows an algorithm of actions to identify the most common causes for which the trimmer does not gain the required speed:

Conclusion

The market offers a wide selection of trimmers from various manufacturers. They are characterized by common reasons why the momentum is falling. Each unit is also equipped instruction manual. In it, the corresponding section contains the necessary recommendations on this issue regarding the model used.

If in the process of self-troubleshooting a positive result was not achieved, it is better to seek help from specialists. Also, professionals should be involved in solving the problem in the absence of minimum experience and skills in such a case, so as not to harm. The most difficult unit is the engine. Only experienced craftsmen are allowed to work with it. When the brushcutter is on warranty service, the best option is to contact a service center where they will carry out diagnostics and repair of equipment.
