Table for circular saw with their own hands

The table for the circular saw can be made by yourself, taking into account personal requirements and preferences. It will be the most comfortable to use. The table can be made in different sizes, heights.

There are models not only of the manual type, but also with the possibility of fixation on the table.

There are several main advantages:

The disadvantages of a homemade circular saw table include the time cost. The master will need to study the schemes, drawings, prepare materials, qualitatively perform processing.

Design requirements

Experienced craftsmen are willing to create a table for the circular saw with their own hands without any technique or drawings. However, there are still certain conditions that must be taken into account.

Inherent requirements include:

  • Stiffness (stability) of the system;
  • Flat, smooth plane of the table;
  • safe securing of the saw;
  • The presence of the fence from the cutting disc;
  • Free access to the start and pause buttons.

The availability of different functions depends on the working conditions and the wishes of the specialist. These include the ability to carry out high quality longitudinal and crosscutting sawing.

Standard products, of which there are hundreds in shopping malls, are made of stainless steel. It is an excellent material, but the production of a saw table made of wood is discussed further.

To begin with, it is important to make a drawing of the machine. If this is not possible, you can find a ready-made version on specialized sites. However, it is best to do it yourself, because you need to consider the available materials and dimensions.

Elevator from a jack

In this case, the working section of the hand router, which is fixed to the base plate, is raised and lowered thanks to the design of the jack. To make a jack cutter, it is recommended that you do the following:

  • Attach a box to the lower fragment of the work table. It is used for support and as protection.
  • In the inner part of the box to place the jack and hand milling machine, connecting it to the moving part.
  • Use as a support plate a metal sheet of the required size. Textolite can also be used.

Elevator with threaded rod

To make a tool using a support disc and a stud, it is recommended to do the following:

  • Make a circle from a board with a thickness of 18-20 mm. It will act as a support platform.
  • Make a hole in the center of the disk. Its diameter should be 10 mm. Put a threaded rod inside.
  • Connect the lower part of the stud bolt with the disc handwheel. A flange nut must be installed in the hole. It will ensure the normal functioning of the lifting device.

Requirements for the saw bed

Some models and brands come with a factory-made frame to fix the saw in the stationary version. These are devices with a small area of the working table on which it is difficult to place and direct a workpiece longer than 1 m, especially heavy ones, along the parallel stop. That’s why craftsmen often make such tables for their small workshops by themselves.

  • The whole construction must be sufficiently strong, especially the angle bars or angle bars, on which the circular saw itself and their fixture are fixed.
  • The height of the table must correspond to the master’s height. Work without bending down or reaching for a platform that is too high. The average height is 65-75 cm. Sometimes low structures are made, which are then placed on a workbench of suitable height.
  • The working table (platform) must have a sufficient support area under the workpieces with which you mainly have to work. For example, for sawing beams of frame bindings or furniture legs, a table length of up to 70 cm is sufficient.100 cm with a width of 50 cm to 100 cm. The wider the table, the wider the workpieces (boards, sheets) on it can be dissolved without exceeding the edge of the table. There is also a place for fixing the parallel stop (support strip) on the work table.

Large table makes it possible to work comfortably with wide and long workpieces. After sawing it can be used as a self-sufficient workbench. Costs. it takes more space, more material consumption for the bed and the platform.

Assembling the frame with the legs

The base or frame of the table is assembled from a set of transverse and longitudinal wooden beams, which are attached to the bottom of its cover, increasing the rigidity of the whole structure. For this purpose, four bars 50×50 mm, placed at an offset from the edge of the table of about 7-9 cm is quite enough. They are fixed on the bottom of the cover with suitable size self-tapping screws at a pitch of approximately 23-25 cm. On its front side, the fastening elements are recessed into the material, completely hiding their flats. You can make the frame stronger by applying a layer of glue to the joined surface of the bars immediately before attaching them. After joining the blanks soaked with glue, they are firmly fixed with clamps, removable as soon as the glue dries. The legs can be made of bars with the same cross-section as the frame blanks (50×50 mm).

The construction of the table must be strong and rigid

The form of the legs is chosen so that they provide the maximum support area of the frame part of the base and have a shape narrowing towards the floor decking. On one of these legs you can install the controls for turning the circular saw on and off, which will duplicate the buttons on its body.

Additionally increase the rigidity and stability of the entire structure you will be able to with a set of steel corners, mounted in the area of its butt joints. To fix them it is recommended to use standard bolts with washers, which should preferably be installed with their heads facing outward.

Tips

Since the circular saw is an electrical device, it is better to work with a specialist who understands electricity. Moving the switch to another place is also better to be entrusted to a specialist.

Tips for making a sawing table out of moisture-resistant plywood

When repairing or building, making furniture and other situations that require processing lumber, you may need a circular saw. Masters who work with wood say that a saw table is much more convenient and safer to use than a hand saw. What’s more. it is much more accurate. You can make such a machine with your own hands. it is often more profitable and faster. In addition, self-made construction will more accurately meet the requirements of the master.

Self-made table for a circular saw must meet a number of requirements. These include the following:

  • stability;
  • perfectly smooth surface of the table, without roughness and irregularities;
  • Securely fastening the saw blade;
  • convenient location of the start and stop buttons.

It is also recommended to fix the metal legs on the structure. This will make the table more stable.

Manufacturing steps

For example, we use an old table as the base for the machine. If there is no such, then before the further described works, it is necessary to make another base. The bars of equal length for the legs are used, the construction is reinforced by transverse elements. The base must be strong and stable to withstand active use. After that, the work begins with the table top.

Step one

According to the previously prepared dimensions, the work surface is cut out. By the way, you can even use an old tabletop from, for example, a kitchen table. The main thing is that the material is strong and can withstand all mechanical stresses.

An important characteristic. the thickness of the table top. Carpenters say that it is best when the thickness is 2 cm. This table top will be strong, whatever material it is made of, and will leave a large working surface for the saw. Simply put, the more the disk “sticks out” of the machine, the deeper it will be able to saw.

If possible, the edges of the board should be milled and sanded. This is important not only for the beautiful appearance of the construction, but also for its durability and comfort of work. And no one wants to get splinters.

Step two

A hole is made in the table top for the circular saw. Remember that it must match the size of the disk. Also on the surface of the countertop you need to draw the place of installation and fastening of the saw.

Stage Three

Making holes in the worktop to fasten it to the base. The tabletop is turned over. To hold the two parts firmly together, self-tapping screws and steel brackets are used. By the way, to then be more convenient to install the saw, the table top can not be fastened at once.

Stage Four

Arranges the system of power supply and turn on the machine. The design assumes that the saw will always be on, so clamps are needed to secure the corresponding button. Starting and stopping the machine will be controlled by turning the power on and off. Therefore, an ordinary switch, cable, and socket will be needed.

If the person performing the work, not good with electricity, it is better to call a specialist.

Inside the socket is installed, from it derives the power cord for the switch. That switch and will start or stop the machine, so it must be at hand, so that in case of emergency, the master could quickly turn off the saw. Connect all this to the nearest outlet in the workplace.

Step five

A frame is made for convenient work with a crosscut. You can make such a carriage from a thin base and two low walls. Wood and plywood are suitable for this purpose. In order to make the structure movable, the guides for the table are prepared. These can be small parts of steel pipes with a cross section of 21 cm. Pipes are installed into the slots, which are pre-cut by the router. Such a simple design will significantly increase the possibilities and convenience of the machine.

The guide carriage can be made of different materials, but there is a requirement for it. the presence of an adjustment function. The ability to adjust the machine to the size of the board and the availability of a stop for working at an angle are important features. If it is difficult to make such a carriage with your own hands, there are ready-made designs for this purpose in stores.

Step six

Precise work is important, so the machine is necessarily equipped with a ruler. Using a router, a small groove is made to fit the ruler. If such a tool is not available, the groove can be prepared with a chisel. The surface of the tabletop is carefully processed with a grinder and sandpaper. The ruler is best secured with self-tapping screws. This modification will allow you to make cuts accurate to the millimeter.

Additional design improvements

Improvements are made to the machine’s design to make it more convenient to use. Often a container for chip collection, a rack with a dust outlet for cleaner operation. Working surface can be made folding, which saves space, and even lifting, which provides quick access to the saw.

Some craftsmen remove the guard from the tool, which makes a large working surface of the saw blade available. A special plank for pushing boards is also prepared. This is important for safety. To avoid losing this block, a special stand or drawer is made under it.
