Trimmer Line What Sizes

Specifications

The main technical characteristics of the trimmer are:

  • Power;
  • Equipment weight;
  • Type of power supply (from the mains or using a battery);
  • Engine location (top or bottom);
  • Cutting element type;
  • Rod type.

All this must be taken into account, buy this or that device.

Mowing head for trimmer

It is a special assembled coil with a cord inside.

The trimmer head is classified by line feed method:

  • Manual. In this case, the name speaks for itself, that is, the line is fed mechanically. To make the cord even longer, you must stop the trimmer and manually pull the ends.
  • Semi-automatic. If you want to replace the cord, the trimmer head needs to touch the ground. In this case, a special button is pressed and the anchor mechanism opens. Further, the lengthening of the cord occurs due to the centrifugal force. The main feature is that the procedure takes place when the trimmer is on.
  • Automatic. To make the cord elongate, the engine speed is reduced. Further, when increasing them, the line is fed automatically.

From the above, it follows that the manual mowing head for the trimmer is inconvenient.

What it is?

The trimmer consists of a cutting element, a bar, a motor and a handle with a control mechanism.

Classification by filling method

The trimmer head can have several ways of threading the line:

  • Quick Chargers. The new cord is wound without disassembling the coil, that is, there is no need to remove it from the device. The end of the new element is pushed into the coil and then wound a certain number of times. When a specific value is reached, the cord is cut. This type of trimmer head is manufactured by Shindaiwa and Speed-Freed.
  • Collapsible. Here the name itself speaks for itself. To replace a new cord, you must remove the spool from the equipment, then unwind the old line and wind a new one.

Cutting tool

To make the cutting process easy, you need to choose the right cutting element.

How to choose the right one?

Before purchasing this equipment, you need to understand for what purpose it will be used. For a large area with a flat lawn, it is better to purchase a light model with low power. If you need to improve the summer cottage, then you need to choose a more powerful model.

Trimmer Line What Sizes

Trimmer head: types and description

One of the common devices for cutting grass is the trimmer. It is very easy to operate and maintain. That is why it has become popular among the population. Its significant advantage is its low weight. Even a child can handle such equipment.

Design features

It should be noted that the trimmer cutter head contains special arrows. They allow you to rotate the coil in different directions. If it becomes necessary to wind the line in the direction of rotation of the shaft, it turns to a specific position. A large amount of wound cord can damage the equipment. The two arrows are only found on imported models. Single hand heads are currently on the market.

If, after hitting the semi-automatic head, the cord is not wound, then its previous winding was performed incorrectly. That is, after the trimmer head was installed, the user did not pull the ends of the line out of the grooves. Another unpleasant moment when mowing grass can be the sintering of the coil turns.

For various models of trimmers, a semi-automatic head is used, consisting of two parts. a body and a spool. Both elements contain springs. The second part can be performed in several versions:

  • One-piece. both parts of the line are wound together;
  • Two-piece. each end is wound on a specific part; this type is the most effective, since the line does not get tangled and does not bake.

There is a simple and cheap way to convert a one-piece spool to a two-piece one. This requires a sturdy plate. From it you need to cut a circle, the diameter of which should be equal to the thickness of the spool. In this case, the thickness is taken near the place where the line is wound. This circle moves freely. Next, a cut is made on the ring, put on a spool and connected with glue or tape.

How to choose a trimmer line

The trimmer is truly the right solution for cutting grass in areas that are difficult to reach for a wheeled lawnmower, such as around trees, shrubs, along fences and paths. The performance of the unit directly depends on the correct choice of line for the trimmer. Cutting tooling requires flexibility, rigidity, and unbreakability. It must have a high level of durability and tear strength. What to look for first when choosing a trimmer line?

First, the thickness of the thread. In the individual instruction manual for the trimmer, you can find out the required line diameter. It is important to note that you do not need to be guided only by the inscriptions on the bobbin of the lawn mower, as the trimmer set usually includes universal spools that are suitable for lines of different diameters and engines of different powers. Each trimmer model has its own individual line diameter. So, when installing a fishing line, the diameter of which exceeds the limiting value indicated in the operating manual, the resistance to rotation increases, the load on the engine increases, which inevitably leads to its overheating and breakdown. Of course, using a fishing line with a smaller diameter will not lead to engine breakdown, but will significantly increase its wear. Currently, the most common thread is 1.2 mm to 4 mm in diameter. Line diameter variation depends on engine power. For example, for electric or cordless trimmers, which are characterized by low power, a line with a diameter of 1.3. 1.6 mm is suitable. For more powerful electric or gasoline trimmers that can cut any grassy vegetation, a 1.8. 2 mm thread will work. On professional benzo and electric scythes, a thread with a thickness of 2.5. 4 mm is used. Such a fishing line will be enough to clear the area from small shrubs.

Secondly, the shape of the section. In most cases, a round trimmer line is sufficient. it is the most common and affordable. The main disadvantage of such a line is the high noise level produced by the trimmer during operation. But even here modern technology does not stand still. Line makers have been able to reduce noise by using a spiral line. Also, there are star, rectangular or square cross-sections. These sections have sharp edges, which makes the cut of the grass smoother. The curly shape of the fiber increases the productivity of the technique. However, at the same time, the consumption of the line increases, and when using such a thread, problems of feeding from the spool often arise. For the best possible mowing of the grass, there are variants with notches and teeth. The notched line is designed for mowing weeds and tough vegetation. The main disadvantage of such a fishing line is poor retrieval from semi-automatic spools, so it uses discs into which it is inserted in small pieces. Two-piece round line is more tear resistant and is best for dry and hard grass.

Thirdly, the service life directly depends on the composition of the line. The most common trimmer line is nylon. This thread has a high degree of wear resistance, and also provides efficient operation at elevated temperatures and loads. In addition, at low temperatures it does not lose its qualities, and does not exfoliate during long-term storage.

The main advantage in favor of choosing a fishing line over other cutting equipment is the ability to use it for delicate trimming of vegetation, for example, near young trees or small bushes.

Trimmer line: features

There are several parameters to consider to choose the right string. Firstly, the characteristics of the device must indicate how thick the line can be. When trying to thread a cord with a large diameter, the thread on the spool will get tangled, the engine will overheat, and the bushings will wear out much faster. Secondly, the task matters. mowing the lawn grass or cutting dead wood. The power of the device itself also puts its limits.

Thread shape

To choose a line not only in thickness, but also in shape, it is necessary for this reason: the cord does not cut the stem, but interrupts it. The rotating string hits the surface of the stem repeatedly and eventually separates the top of the stem. For this work, the shape of the incisal edge is an important technical characteristic.

  • Round is the most common, as it is universal: you can choose it for mowing both fresh and dry grass. It is considered less noisy, especially the spiral one. But this parameter is not important in all cases. The line for a gasoline trimmer can be as noisy as you like, it is still inaudible during engine operation.
  • Polygonal. from 3 to 6 faces. Sharp incisal edges handle coarse, thick stems better. Thus, a square cord with a section of 2.4 mm is able to remove raspberry stems. It should be noted that with higher efficiency, the polygonal cord is consumed faster, and it should only be used for its intended purpose.
  • Curly. an asterisk, ribbed, in the form of a twisted square with notches, and so on. Their “specialization” is different, which is desirable to learn about in the instructions before choosing. Thus, an asterisk is recommended for cutting fresh grass, as it is less traumatic: the grass does not dry after cutting, as when using a round string. In the photo. a cord with a different shape.

Manufacturing material

The line is made from nylon. polyamide, or polypropylene. Cheap products may contain polyethylene additives. It significantly reduces temperature and wear resistance.

Long-lasting polypropylene trimmer line can become fragile. It is recommended to soak it in water for 30 minutes before use.

In strings with a large diameter. 4 mm, aluminum particles are added to increase strength.

Do not use ropes or wires in lawn mowers: pieces of wire broken off at such a high speed easily pierce leather shoes.

Why lawn mowers?

This type of gardening equipment is designed for small areas where maneuverability is more important than productivity. If we are talking about the same flower bed, then mowing the grass in the immediate vicinity of the flowers using a wheeled lawn mower is unrealistic. The trimmer, electric or petrol, will do the job perfectly.

The essence of his work is as follows: the fishing line or knife rotates at a fairly high speed and cut off the stems. A string or cord is used specifically for cutting grass. Which trimmer line is best depends on the task. For soft and hard grass, respectively, a cord with different technical characteristics is needed.

Cord thickness

Trimmer line section ranges from 1.2mm to 4mm.

  • 1.2 mm. 1.6 mm. a thin string designed for constant lawn care. It is used in low-power devices. up to 0.5 kW. This is a standard line for an electric trimmer.
  • From 2 mm. 2.4 mm. suitable for devices with a power of 1 kW. This is the most common option, as it allows you to cut both young and rather tough grown grass. Since the lawn in the dachas is looked after a little less often than it should be, the 2.4 mm cord turns out to be very useful.
  • 3mm. 3.2mm is used for powerful gasoline appliances. Their task: to cope not only with grass, but also with thick stems of weeds and dead wood.

The string is sold in a package. bays, the length ranges from 10 to 100 m. However, there are also options for selling “for a cut”. In the photo. various types of cord with a cross section of 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm.

Which trimmer line is better: which one to choose?

Caring for a lawn or flower garden includes not only watering and weeding, but also cutting the grass. Bare land on a flower bed or summer area looks unattractive. Smooth, soft, green “carpet” is certainly much better.

Choosing a trimmer line

But to make the lawn look like this, you need special equipment.

Cord reels: characteristics

The trimmer head is, in fact, a special reel of line for the trimmer. Inside it, on a spool, a cord is wound. as a rule, up to 15 m. A thread of the required length is pulled from it when it breaks or gets worn out. When the string ends, a new thread is inserted into the bobbin.

By the type of cord feeding, the drums are divided into:

  • Manual. to lengthen the string, the device is turned off, and the line is manually pulled out;
  • Semi-automatic. are activated by a favorite folk trick: you need to hit the mowing head on the ground. On impact, the anchor mechanism is released and the cord is automatically lengthened;
  • Automatic. here you need to reduce the speed, and then increase it again to the maximum: the spool will feed the thread when the speed increases.

The line trimmer drum is also refueled differently. In quick-charging machines, there is no need to disassemble the coil for refueling, in ordinary ones. you need to remove it and wind the cord manually. The different ways of changing the string are presented.

3 comments on “Which trimmer line is better: which one to choose?”

What kind of fishing line I have not used all are torn like devils, I honestly do not know at all how to continue. Either they “slip in shit” or “fake.” Any shit. If anyone knows how and where to find a “contractual” system. This is a BIG QUESTION.

2.4. Star. This is if you want to stock up on hay. And for grinding. round.

Curly cut more accurately. And the round ones throw around.

Sectional shape

In many ways, the result of the trimmer’s work also depends on the shape of the line section. Conventionally, all types can be divided into two types. a round fishing line and a complex cross-section fishing line. a square, a rectangle, a star.

The most common line is the round line.

This is due to several factors:

  • The production of round yarns is much cheaper than the production of complex sections;
  • The round thread can withstand heavy loads. during mowing, the tip of the fishing line sharpens and, thus, an even correct cut is obtained, similar to the cut of a hand braid;
  • Round line consumes less than other line types;
  • Round section is available in all types of product diameters from 1.4 mm to 3.3 mm inclusive.

Disadvantages of a round line:

  • Creates noise during operation, therefore, for especially gentle consumers who do not like to wear headphones, the manufacturer offers a round spiral line with reduced noise during operation;
  • Despite the presence in all types of sizes, round line is not well suited for mowing shrubs and dead wood, its main purpose is young green grass.

Square or rectangular line:

  • The main purpose. professional trimmers for hay on tall grass;
  • The cut is made with the edges of the rectangle, as a result of which the mowing is smooth, without crushing the stems.
  • Sizes. 2.4mm to 3.3mm.

Cons:

  • High consumption when working on rocky areas, near hedges, trees. the line is quite fragile;
  • Mainly used on heavy duty electric and petrol trimmers.

Star-shaped line:

  • The main purpose is dry grass and small shrubs;
  • Sizes from 2.4 mm to 3.0 mm;
  • Some manufacturers make a two-piece line to strengthen the line, when there is a metal core inside the line;

Of the minuses, it should be noted:

  • High and very high cost (line with a metal core);
  • Requires special trimmer spool or special disc;
  • When mowing with such a line, it is not recommended to use the cut grass as feed for livestock.

Tips for choosing

The main criterion for choosing a fishing line should be compliance with the diameter of the fishing line to the trimmer, its power, and capabilities.

It is not necessary to put the whole skein of fishing line into the spool, a small piece is enough to prevent spontaneous scattering of the working head, especially since to work with the trimmer it is necessary to select a fishing line in the range of sizes specified in the instructions. a light thread of small diameter is just as harmful to the tool as a thicker thread.

What nuances should be observed when working?

As with the beginning of the operation of any technique, before starting to work with the trimmer, it is recommended to read the instructions, to read it, and not to skim, it is easy and extremely useful, in any case, if there is no experience with this kind of equipment, at the initial stage it will be possible to avoid breakdowns.

Already in the future, when experience appears, this largely compensates for the high consumption of fishing line, but nevertheless, it should be borne in mind that initially you need to adhere to the manufacturer’s advice.

The second important point is knowing the basic parameters of the line and taking them into account for work:

  • Thickness;
  • Sectional shapes;
  • Thread composition.

Line composition

However, in general, the service life of the line depends not on the shape or diameter of the thread, but on what composition it is made of. Most often, domestic manufacturers use nylon as the main material.

It is flexible enough, elastic, strong, amenable to deformation by stretching. Relatively easily tolerates heavy loads and high temperatures.

Nylon line is the cheapest in the price range, but this does not mean that it is of poor quality, if we consider the price / quality / performance ratio, then nylon line will show a very decent result.

Coaxial, two-piece line will handle the most stress and is considered the strongest. Its secret is simple. a dense, even tough core and a rather elastic outer layer.

This combination allows the line to retain its properties for a long time and wear out gradually, much slower than nylon line.

A line with a metal central core was originally intended for professional work. mowing grass along highways, cleaning steep slopes, working on rocky areas.

And therefore it has an appropriate price, which is not quite suitable for working on a personal plot.

Thread thickness

Considering that trimmers have different power, and the intended purpose, manufacturers try to recommend different line thicknesses for different trimmer models.

For small electrical appliances designed to care for small areas of the lawn, the main buyers of which are housewives and the elderly, manufacturers recommend fishing line with a diameter of 1.4 to 2.4 mm.

For medium power electric scythes and petrol trimmers, which are needed to care for fairly large areas, manufacturers recommend a line between 2.4 mm and 3 mm.

Professional units capable of working for several hours in a row, mowing grass in areas with difficult terrain, with shrubs and dry grass, a fishing line with a thickness of 3. 3.2 mm is recommended.

Which line to choose for the trimmer?

A beautiful and well-groomed lawn in front of the house or a neat lawn framed by ornamental shrubs in many ways speaks not only of the attractiveness of the artistic solution, but also of the diligence of the owner of the estate.

And these are not empty words, because systematic lawn care requires not only adherence to technological cycles, but also hard work.

Created and almost perfected lawn care tools, along with the need for skillful handling, also require a high-quality selection of consumables, the quality of which largely determines the success of an ideal lawn.

The main parameters of the trimmer line

Manufacturers most often indicate the diameter of the line, and this is partly correct. the mowing head has holes with metal inserts of a certain inner diameter, into which it is impossible to insert a line of a larger diameter.

Thus, one of the parameters of the line is:

    Thread thickness.

How and which line to choose for a trimmer?

Small-scale mechanization products offered today for small areas and for the care of large areas with difficult terrain, and these are mainly electric and gasoline trimmers have a working body in the form of a universal head, into the drum of which synthetic fishing line or vein is wound, as it is sometimes called.

Basically, all manufacturers of this kind of equipment in the operating instructions indicate the parameters of the fishing line. diameter. There is a similar indication on the spool, where the direction of winding of the line and its diameter are indicated.

However, today there are several types of trimmer line, which not only differ from each other in color, diameter and shape, but also have completely different characteristics.

Review of the best brands of manufacturers

Among the branded threads for trimmers, the most prestigious and popular among professionals are the Makita, BlackDecker, Husqvarna, Bosch. These are well-known brands that have been setting high standards for quality and innovation for many years.

The most common on the market, and quite affordable for the average consumer (both for amateur and professional use) Forte, Intertool, Master Tool, Sturm, Verto, Sadko, Werk, Brigadier.

Line material

The life of the line depends on the material. Most of the cores are made from nylon, which is highly durable, flexible and durable. The material is easily stretched, perfectly tolerates temperature drops and significant loads. In terms of price-quality ratio, nylon line takes the leading positions.

When hanging reliability is required, a line with a metal core can be purchased. It consists of two layers: a flexible outer shell is superimposed on a rigid base. This design provides less wear and a 30% increase in strength compared to nylon cutters.

The two-component line was conceived for the needs of public utilities and professional organizations involved in landscaping areas along the sides of roads or railways. But now it can be found in the household.

Cross-sectional shape

A round vein has become widespread. Among its advantages are affordable price, low consumption, wide choice for all standard sizes and high durability. There is only one significant drawback. increased noise when harvesting grass. To protect your hearing, you should get headphones.

Which line is better, round or curly? It all depends on the area of application of the trimmer. A round shape is perfect for mowing young grass or low dead wood. And for cleaning the earthen cut of tough shoots, thick stems, a curly fishing line is the ideal choice. It produces a smooth cut without crushing.

Trimmer line what sizes

If you are a happy owner of a lawn, then you must have a trimmer in your arsenal. It gives a neat and well-groomed appearance to the green lawn by mowing overgrown grass and plant shoots. The device consists of a drive, an ergonomic handle, a connecting rod and a cutting head. Usually, the latter is a spool with line. Her competent choice is the key to effective trimmer operation.

Brief content of the article:

Line dimensions

The diameter of the trimmer line is the most important parameter of the mower. Indeed, in the working part of the tool there are holes of certain dimensions, and not every line will fit through them. If the line is selected incorrectly, this leads to increased loads on the drive.

Consumables with a diameter from 1.4 mm to 4 mm are on sale. The diameter is determined by the trimmer model and its power:

  • For compact units with a power of up to 1 kW, processing small areas, fishing lines with a thickness of 1.4-2.4 mm are recommended.
  • An electric scythe or a trimmer that runs on gasoline is equipped with thicker cords. 2.4-3 mm.
  • The most formidable devices, capable of clearing large areas of the aerial part of shrubs and young trees, have a vein of 3-4 mm.

How to work with a line

When mowing grass with the trimmer, it is important to avoid line contact with rocks, fence or tree. The contact leads to grinding of the cord, reducing its service life. No matter how high-quality fishing line is, it still has a resource. Therefore, it is important to know how to correctly change the line on the trimmer.

First of all, you need to remove the bobbin from the equipment. The removal order is determined by the model:

  • If the drive is located at the bottom, then to remove the upper part of the coil, you must simultaneously press the buttons on the sides.
  • For devices with a curved shaft, hold the bobbin with your hand and turn the thumbs freely to the left (counterclockwise).
  • For a unit with a straight handle, a groove is found at the bottom of the coil and a screwdriver is installed in it. By turning the spool body to the left, remove the bobbin.

After successful extraction, the reel is disassembled on a flat, free of vegetation. You need to act carefully. there is a spring inside the coil, which is easy to lose. As a result of parsing, several parts are obtained: a casing, a housing and directly the winding coil itself.

Threading the line on the trimmer is in accordance with the model of the equipment.

Spool with one line hole. A thread with a length of 2-5 m is cut from the skein. The end of the cord is inserted into the groove of the coil and pressed with a finger, and the thread is wound in the direction opposite to the working rotation (indicated by the arrow on the body). The coils should fit snugly against each other. At the end, the bobbin body is installed, into the hole of which the working end of the thread is brought out.

Winding is performed opposite to the working rotation along one or two grooves in accordance with the design of the spool. When the thread comes to an end, its tails are pulled out through the 2 holes in the upper part of the spool.

There are reels with automatic cord winding. It is enough to correctly insert the end of the line, and the turns will form independently after activating a special mechanism.

Steel center thread

To deal with really problematic areas, sellers recommend fishing line with a metal core. They last longer, cope in difficult conditions. Metal-reinforced threads are used for professional purposes.

The core increases resistance to rupture. They can be square or round, approximately 3 mm thick. Naturally, the for such are higher, but the result of mowing is excellent.

main parameters

The main determinants are the composition and diameter of the thread. The material greatly affects the durability. It is made from nylon, because it is considered the most durable working material. Nowadays aluminum products have begun to appear. they are even more effective.

And it is possible to determine the approximate diameter by the type of engine. Electric trimmers with a power of 1 kW will require products with a thickness of 2 mm, less than 500 watts. no thicker than 1.6 mm.

For lawn mowers, they take cords of 2.4-3 mm, for lawn mowers. 3.2 mm. It turns out that the more powerful the braid, the larger the rig. Pay attention to it.

Which line is better?

There is no definite answer to this question. Round types are universal, but cords in the form of stars are not suitable for everyone. Experienced workers believe: the correct choice of thread will increase productivity, save a quarter of time for cleaning the yard.

It is necessary to take into account the category of the device for which the purchase of the cutting device is planned. It is believed that twisted ones are best suited for beveling all trimmers (except for gasoline ones. they should be given cords with a metal in the center). Twisted lines cut grass easily, which is not always the case with smooth.

The thinner the threads, the easier the bevel, but their wear resistance is less, they quickly break or wear off. And the fat ones overload the device, ruin the lawn, as they crush the greens.

Varieties

There are options with notches and grooves that allow you to mow impassable weeds. Volume is low, extra power is applied.

Trimmer line what sizes

A trimmer is a device with which gardeners can mow lawns, paths, areas near trees and fences. The mowing part includes a line. a strong thread that turns quickly during operation. In the photo, the cord looks like flexible wiring in various bright colors, wrapped in convenient packaging. It bends and has good rigidity.

Threading

So, when you decide and buy a line for the spit, the following problem arises: how to fill it? It will take about half an hour, if you have not done this before.

The cord is wound on a trimmer reel, which is a plastic case with a cassette from the inside, on which there is a small winding hook. The standard type of fastening is a screw button. When you press on it, you can draw out the thread of the required length. The winding method is almost the same.

The following is the usual case with two antennae. Unscrew the center screw clockwise. Use a screwdriver to disassemble the head. Take out the coil. Measure the standard length of the line (2-4 m), cut and fold in half, and then just start winding it around the removed part.

Its ends will be opposite to each other. Slide them out through the small locking holes and reassemble the head in the opposite direction. Make sure the ends don’t slip out.

Line replacement

During mowing the grass may run out or break off. Therefore, a cord replacement will be required. You will need the cord itself, gloves (it is possible without them, as it is more comfortable) and a knife. Unwind the required size from the pack and cut. You can hold a piece for half an hour in water. it will become more flexible and durable.

It is worth folding the elements in a certain order not far from you. Then start winding the line in the same way as during the first threading. Do this carefully, without pulling, because the thread needs free movement. Also pull the ends into the slots.

Then close the lid and tighten. Place the cutter head on the trimmer and pull the line to the desired length. Now you can continue working.

Line thickness for feeder: overview of characteristics

The thickness of the feeder line plays a very important role in the fishing process, and this is due to many factors. But first, we will look at the fundamental differences between braided line and monofilament.

So, braided line, when compared with monofilament, is stronger, more durable, and most importantly, it does not stretch. The non-extensibility of the braided line provides better visibility of the bite, which is especially important when fishing for small fish and when fishing at a long distance from the shore.

But sometimes, the amortization of the braid is not enough, or rather, it is not there at all, and the rod takes over all the work. That is why monofilament line is used for carp fishing. You can read more about carp fishing in the articles: “Carp for corn”, and “Carp on the pacifier”.

Now let’s start directly considering the thickness of the line, and what it affects. Firstly, the thinner the line, the more it will fit on the reel spool.

Secondly, the thinner the fishing line, the less the frictional force during casting, and the casting distance increases from this, but then the question of breaking load becomes, and, naturally, the thicker the fishing line, the stronger it is.

If you throw heavy loads over long distances, then there is a chance of breaking the line with the rig when casting, so the thickness of the line should be selected in accordance with the weight of the feeder weights to be thrown and the fish caught.

If you catch small fish on the feeder, for example, crucian carp, roach, silver bream, or scourge, then we advise you to put a monofilament line with a thickness of 0.2. 0.3 mm, or a braided line with a similar breaking load.

For feeder fishing for larger fish, for example carp, carp, or grass carp, a thicker and stronger fishing line is taken, with a breaking load of up to 20 kilograms and a thickness of up to 0.5 mm.

It should be noted that the thickness of the line on the feeder also affects the loads used (feeder feeders), and now we will explain why. So, the thickness of the line used affects how strong the wind and current will affect this same line.

The thicker the fishing line, the more area in the water and air it occupies, from this it follows that the current and wind affect the thicker fishing line more strongly, and it is possible that the feeder trough will be carried away from the desired fishing spot. In this case, you can put a heavier feeder, which will coarse the tackle and make the bites less intense.

Another way out in this situation is to change the position of the feeder rod. If there is a strong crosswind while fishing, but there is no current, then the rod should be set as low as possible above the water, and if, on the contrary, the current is very strong, but the influence of the wind is minimal, the rod should be set as high as possible above the water, which will reduce the water pressure on the line.

Rumor has it that the fish is afraid of thick line, and this is most likely true, but do not forget that the feeder equipment must necessarily include a leash made of thinner line, which the fish is less afraid of.

In general, the thickness of the line for the feeder must be selected correctly, but usually monofilament lines with a thickness of 0.25-0.3 mm are used, and braided lines with a thickness of 0.14-0.18 mm. And always take a spare line with you when fishing to replace your feeder line if necessary.
