Consider donating reusable items to a charity! You can find a list of secondhand stores on the Streets Division’s Reuse It! webpage. You can also contact one of the many thrift stores in the area about the item you wish to give away. Many of them offer home pickup, too.

You can also give or sell items in online person-to-person exchanges. There are many online options, including popular neighborhood social media websites.

If you have a usable item you would like to give away, don’t set it at the curb with a free sign. Rain or snow can ruin the item, and Streets Division crews may collect it before a person who needs it can arrive.

Put Your Lawn Mower for Sale

If your lawn mower’s frame is rusted but the engine still operates, consider selling it by putting up a picture and desired price on a buying and selling platform.

It might be sold as a whole or divided among many buyers.

Many do-it-yourself mechanics purchase old components to keep their lawnmowers running since they are less expensive than purchasing new ones.

List the lawnmower in your local paper or market it through friends and family to attract potential buyers.

Do not forget that word of mouth is one of the best advertisements if you wish to sell a lawnmower in your neighborhood.

This facilitates potential customers in determining if your mower fits their requirements.

You have numerous alternatives when it comes to marketing your lawnmower.

Many individuals would purchase old or damaged lawn mowers to repair and sell them later.

If you want to earn a bit more money for your lawnmower, you might need to think of some other option than a yard sale.

Listing your lawn mower online can be another option for selling it for good bucks. You can utilize several fantastic applications, such as eBay, LetGo, Marketplace, Carousell, and OfferUp.

You may also sell your mower on websites such as Craigslist.

To make it more enticing, provide a thorough description, including the model year, engine capacity, blade width, brand name, condition, and you can also add attractive photographs.

If the lawnmower is not working properly or at all, you might be able to market it for components.

Sell as Scrap Metal

Take your mower to a nearby junkyard if you want to just quickly get rid of it without having to bother with marketing and selling it.

Most people purchase mowers at scrap metal rates, which change regularly depending on the market.

If you can disassemble your damaged lawnmower and collect its metal components, you can earn extra money from selling it for scrap.

Some lawnmower metals have iron components and are magnetic, while other metals lack iron and are non-magnetic.

The type of metal determines the cost of your mower.

waste, management, lawn, mower

Place a magnet on your deck to see whether it’s made of aluminum. It might be aluminum if it doesn’t stick to the deck.

For a mower sold as a unit, junkyards generally pay more for aluminium breakage than they do for plain steel.

If you’re feeling very ambitious, you may disassemble the mower and sort the components by metal type.

This is a time-consuming process, but it will be worth the effort. If you opt to disassemble it yourself and are able to separate the various metals, you may sell it for the greatest money.

Mentor Recycling. Yard Waste. Bulk Collection Information

You can search how to disassemble lawn mowers on the internet by searching for step-by-step instructions or videos.

If you believe you may require assistance disassembling your mower, feel free to contact a professional.

Whether you discard the mower as a whole or disassemble it, make sure to drain the fuel in an approved container of the Department of Transportation and empty the engine before disposing of it.

Recycle Your Lawn Mower

Nowadays, you can recycle almost anything, even your old lawnmower. Many local recycling centers will recycle your lawnmowers at little or no cost to you.

But it would be better to contact them and ask beforehand about the whole process, so you are mentally prepared.

At the very least, you’ll need to drain the fuel to empty the engine before dropping it off at the recycling centre.

Some local authorities and municipalities will take up your bulky goods for recycling if you order them in advance.

Most localities, however, demand you to drop it off yourself. You can either hire someone to transport your goods to a local recycling center or do it yourself.

If you choose to hire someone, you will obviously have to pay them and drain the fuel before handing it over.

You should also be careful to choose the recycling center wisely.

Make sure that they do not conduct the recycling process near the landfills where the fuels leak and other toxic chemicals might mix up with water, air, or soil.

Donate It

Assuming you want to do a good deed and your lawnmower seems to be in good condition, you can donate it to a charitable cause.

Some organizations accept good quality and functional lawnmowers to sell and utilize the money to finance activities inside the organization.

Suppose you intend to give your lawn mower. Contact and confirm with the organization to determine what condition it demands.

Most people anticipate it to be cleaned and suitable for quick use by the new owner. Remember to drain the fuel before you donate the mower.

Stale fuel makes it difficult to restart the engine. It might take you some time to confirm with the organization and send the mower to them.

Some organizations may pick up donated things for a charge, but you will most likely need to come up with a way to transport it yourself to a collection location.

Donating your lawnmower instead of just disposing of it is far more environmentally beneficial.

Another excellent method to get rid of your lawnmower is to gift it to somebody who might benefit from a working mower.

If you cannot find someone who could use a lawnmower, you can ask your relatives and friends.

Below are some of the areas that you should consider before you decide to dispose of your lawnmower
