Chainsaw oil adjustment screw
How to check a chainsaw carburetor?
After adjustment, check acceleration, maximum RPM and engine idling. In the process of checking the first parameter, you should sharply press the gas trigger. If at the same time the motor does not start to pick up speed, then it is necessary to turn the screw “L” counterclockwise. In this case, one turn should not exceed 1/8 of the full circle of the screw.
To measure the maximum speed, you will need to use the screw “H”. In order to increase the maximum speed, the screw is turned clockwise. To decrease the indicator, the screw must be turned in the opposite direction. It should be remembered that the maximum number of revolutions should not exceed 15 thousand.
For a final check of the chainsaw when idling, you need to start the tool and put it on a flat place. Let the engine warm up and pay attention to the following parts of the chainsaw:
- Chain. must not move;
- Motor. when you press the gas trigger, it should confidently pick up speed until it reaches the set maximum limit.
An important tip. if the carburetor is configured correctly, the sound of the chainsaw motor will strongly resemble the sound when a 4-stroke engine is running.
In a similar manner, the carburetor of a Chinese chainsaw is adjusted and checked. The only difference is that the process of setting up such instruments can take much more time. on average, about an hour. In addition, it should be remembered that the adjustment of Chinese chainsaws is required much more often. it often needs to be done immediately after running in a new tool.
How to remove a carburetor from a chainsaw?
Before cleaning the carburetor or repairing it, this element of the chainsaw will need to be dismantled and disconnected from other components. To do this, you must follow a certain procedure. The dismantling algorithm is as follows:
- First, remove the top cover by unscrewing 3 bolts around its perimeter;
- Remove the filter in the form of a foam pad;
- Disconnect the fuel supply hose;
- Remove the drive rod;
- Disconnect the cable end;
- Carefully remove and fully pull out the fuel hose.
Try to perform each of the actions as carefully as possible. Otherwise, there will be a risk of damage to important parts of the chainsaw.
How to properly adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw?
Before adjusting the carburetor on a chainsaw, you will need to study the meaning of the three screws required for adjustment. These screws have specific markings and names:
- Screw “L” is required for low speed adjustment;
- The “H” screw is required when tuning the motor for high speed operation;
- Screw “T” is needed to adjust idle speed.
It is worth noting that some chainsaws are equipped with only one “T” screw, so the carburetors of such models are adjusted by manipulating only this screw.
No matter how many screws there are on the chainsaw, the factory settings of the carburetor are the most optimal for its operation. The screws themselves were originally used to adjust the chainsaw to work in certain weather conditions.
Chainsaw carburettors with three screws should be adjusted using the “L” and “H” screws. To increase the speed, they should be turned clockwise. In order to reduce the speed, the screws turn against it. To adjust the carburetor, you need a special screwdriver for adjustment. it will not slide off the screws and damage the threads on their “caps”.
The carburetor adjustment process consists of two stages: initial and main. The algorithm of actions during adjustment is as follows:
- During the first step, screws “L” and “H” must be tightened clockwise to the very end;
- After that, these screws must be turned 1.5 turns in the opposite direction;
- At the second stage, you need to start the chainsaw and leave it for 10 minutes to fully warm up;
- Then start turning the screw “T” until the chainsaw motor starts to run stably and the chain on the bar does not rotate.
Chainsaw carburetor. device, adjustment and flushing with your own hands
The carburetor is an integral part of the chainsaw, the function of which is to mix the fuel mixture with air and then supply the finished fuel to the engine of the tool. Despite the high reliability of modern carburetors, they are often subject to various breakdowns, which entails a complete stop of the chainsaw engine. Let’s look at the design of this important unit and how to troubleshoot it yourself.
Chainsaw Carburetor Adjustment. When Procedure Required?
- The engine does not start at all, or it stalls immediately after it starts up. the reason for this may be a lack of fuel paired with an excess of air;
- Increased fuel consumption. in this case, the amount of exhaust gases increases rapidly. The reason for this situation should be sought in an increase in the amount of fuel and a decrease in the amount of air;
There are also a number of mechanical reasons that lead to the need to adjust the carburetor. These include:
- Severe vibration. this will damage the protective cap, resulting in a loss of fixation of all three adjusting screws;
- Wear of the piston part of the engine. in such a situation, adjusting the carburetor will only temporarily prolong the operation of the tool. To completely eliminate the malfunction, you will have to completely replace the piston group;
- Blockages. they appear as a result of the use of low-quality gasoline, filter damage or scale. In such cases, it will be necessary to dismantle, disassemble and clean the carburetor.
In any of these cases, it is best not to overtighten with the assembly adjustment or flushing procedure. Otherwise, this will lead to breakdown of other, no less important elements of the chainsaw.
Chainsaw carburetor device. simple and affordable
As is the case with other chainsaw units, before repairing the carburetor, you should study its design in detail. This will help determine the true breakdown and quickly fix it. The design of the chainsaw carburetor consists of the following elements:
- Tube. equipped with a transverse damper that regulates the ingress of air into the system;
- Diffuser. Located next to the fuel inlet. As the diffuser narrows, the air flow rate into the system increases;
- Fuel needle. serves to distribute fuel;
- Float chamber. regulates the fuel level at the point of entry into the channel.
For a better understanding of the design of the unit, you will need a chainsaw carburetor diagram. It clearly demonstrates the location and method of connecting the main elements of the node.
The principle of operation of a chainsaw carburetor is quite simple. The needle sprays fuel into the float chamber, after which the fuel is mixed with air. Then the finished mixture enters the engine cylinder. The more fuel is supplied to the engine, the higher the number of revolutions of the engine.
Regardless of the manufacturer and model of the chainsaw, each of the modern tools is equipped with carburetors that have almost the same design and work according to the same principle. The main differences lie in the materials of spare parts and their location in the carburetor device.
How to clean a chainsaw carburetor?
Flushing the carburetor of the chainsaw is required in cases where low-quality fuel is used to refuel the tool, or the tool is used at extremely low temperatures. In the process of work, you need to try not to damage or lose the small parts of the unit. Carburetor cleaning is performed in this order:
DDE CS2512 chainsaw oil pump repair
The oil pump does not work on the newest DDE CS2512 saw.
How the lubrication system works
The lubrication system in modern chainsaws consists of three main elements:
During the rotation of the drive sprocket, oil from the pump along the guide bar enters the chain and is absorbed by the sawdust. At idle engine speed, the oil supply is cut off in order to save.
Some chainsaw models are equipped with an automatic lubrication system, the flow rate of which depends on the speed of rotation of the drive sprocket.
Others provide manual adjustment of the oil flow using a special screw.
Pump design, lubrication systems and principle of operation
The oil pump drive consists of two parts, a plastic gear with a worm gear and a wire lever that transfers the force from the sprocket-drum to the worm gear.
The lever is rigidly attached to the gear and they are supplied as one piece. The tip of the wire arm has a characteristic curvature that is designed for better grip on the drive sprocket drum. The drum has a special slot for installing the drive.
The Stihl 180 oil pump is completely made of metal and has a non-collapsible design. The pump casing has an oil inlet and a groove-channel through which oil from the oil line enters the pump directly. The mechanism is installed in the body of the Stihl 180 chainsaw.
At the moment of increasing engine speed, the sprocket drum begins to rotate the worm gear by the wire lever, and it, in turn, causes the oil pump plunger to rotate, as a result of which the oil begins to be pumped through the oil channels to the chainsaw tire.
In the operation of the system, the oil pipe of the chainsaw is also directly involved, at the end of which there is an oil receiver. The oil receiver is additionally a filter. On the second side of the oil hose, a rubber expansion is made, with the help of which the hose is installed into the body of the Stihl 180 chainsaw immediately behind the oil pump.
Do-it-yourself oil pump repair
Chainsaw oil pump malfunctions usually occur as a result of prolonged use of the tool, and can cause a lot of trouble.
Poor lubrication can at best result in poor saw performance and, at worst, chain and guide bar failure. How to remove the clutch on a chainsaw: Stihl, Husqvarna.
For this reason, the condition of the oil pump and other components of the lubrication system should be regularly checked, and if any faults are found, they should be repaired.
Chainsaw plunger oil pump malfunctions and their elimination
It often happens that oil is not supplied to the saw chain, even when the adjusting screw is in the maximum oil supply. There are not many reasons:
- after disassembling the oil pump, the adjusting screw is set at 180 ° relative to its original position.
It is enough to reposition the adjusting screw or leave it that way. Then the screw positions for maximum and minimum oil supply (
- The profiled surface of the annular ledge is worn out and no longer looks like a profiled one, but flat. The plunger does not move along its axis.
We change the oil pump or form a profile and sharpen the central protrusion at the end of the plunger shaft. In this case, the volume of the working chamber of the pump will slightly increase.
When adjusting the profile and the protrusion, it is necessary to maintain the same maximum dimensions in height relative to each other, so that when the adjusting screw is in the minimum mode, the plunger will pump oil a little. In the new pump, the central protrusion at the end of the plunger shaft is higher than the level of the annular profile by about 0.3. 0.6 mm and in the position of the adjusting screw with a minimum oil supply, the oil pump does not work.
- Wear on the inner surface of the pump plunger chamber and the outer surface of the plunger.
This, usually, manifests itself with a previous defect or with what I will describe next. We change the oil pump or sort out kits by size from used.
How To Fix A ChainSaw If It Won’t Oil The Bar And Chain. Video
Watch a video about the device and principle of operation of a plunger-type oil pump for chainsaws.
- Violation of the tightness of the working plunger chamber.
A little oil can be supplied to the lubrication point, but there is a lot of grease on the saw casing from the chain drive side.
The last example speaks of the plunger collar, which in many cases is installed in the opposite direction, with the collar outward. Some masters argued that this is a cuff that captures oil into the pump chamber. But how does this cuff behave when inflated? Pass oil through itself?
Some people choose rubber rings instead of him, but believe me, this is not easy and very caring for the inexperienced. This method is good, but you need to consider the tightness of the O-ring.
If the ring sits tightly in place, then it will be necessary to replace the plunger spring, and there will also be increased wear of the mating unit of the adjusting screw and the plunger shaft.
The wear of the plastic hub of the pump drive worm gear will also be added.
The ease of movement of the plunger is maintained by the use of a cuff that does not interfere with the return stroke at the moment the plunger is seized by oil and maintains sufficient tightness of the working chamber when oil is pumped.
Watch a video about repairing a chainsaw oil pump.
This is my method, which always justifies itself, provided that no one interfered with the design of the oil pump and the oil was supplied to the pump through the oil filter.
The principle of operation of the oil pump of a chainsaw: DIY repair, replacement, how to remove, adjustment, how to change, does not work, the device
Major breakdowns of the oil pump
The oil pump consists of several parts, which are connected in a single whole, namely: a housing, a reservoir with oil lubrication, a hose and a gasket between the two parts of the device. The most vulnerable point is the gasket, which, over time or with improper use of the chainsaw, deforms and begins to leak lubricant.
Due to a leaky gasket, some of the oil flows out through the gap, and therefore much less lubricant is supplied to the chain. This increases the wear on the chain and guide bar, which can later lead to their failure.
Also at risk are the hoses and pipes of the oil pump, which can become clogged with prolonged use of the saw, and therefore the oil pressure decreases. The holes through which the oil enters the guide rail are also subject to this scourge.
The operation of the oil plunger pump on a chainsaw
The oil pump on chainsaws is valveless and is mounted on the crankcase of the chainsaw from the side of the saw chain drive. The role of the valve in these pumps is performed by a segmented cutout at the end of the plunger.
The plunger is driven from the clutch by a pair of drive from the worm hub.
It turns out that the pump plunger rotates in the same direction and at the same time it itself closes the inlet and outlet channels of the oil line in a cycle, combining the function of the valves.
When the segmented cutout at the end of the plunger opens the inlet of the oil supply line, the plunger moves slightly out of the pump chamber, thereby picking up oil from the line through the open hole.
As the plunger rotates further, the inlet channel of the pump oil chamber closes and the opening of the discharge channel opens. At the same time, the plunger moves inward and pumps the trapped oil into the oil channel to the lubrication point by the piston.
With one rotation around its axis, the plunger makes one reciprocating movement along its axis, the magnitude of the stroke of which is regulated by a screw with an eccentric transversely installed at the end of the plunger shaft. Someone likes to call him cam.
The eccentric rests against the central protrusion on the end of the plunger shaft, and the greater the angle of deflection of the adjusting screw, the further the eccentric located on it will push the plunger shaft away from itself. In the largest eccentric deviation, oil cannot be pumped out by the pump. No saw chain lubrication.
In addition to the central protrusion on the end of the plunger shaft, there is an annular protrusion with a profiled surface that determines the magnitude of the plunger stroke along its axis. That is, the level of capture and injection of oil.
A metal spring is mounted on the plunger shaft, which, resting with one side against the oil pump housing, constantly pushes the plunger shaft towards the adjusting screw.
The profiled surface of the annular ledge is in contact with the cylindrical body of the adjusting screw. At the point of their contact, an interface is formed, which, when the plunger shaft rotates, sets a value that limits the movement of the plunger along its axis and affects the process of capturing and pumping oil by the plunger.
The oil pump will operate at maximum efficiency provided that the adjusting screw eccentric does not come into contact with the center lug on the end of the plunger shaft.
As the adjusting screw rotates, the eccentric will approach the protrusion and push the plunger shaft away from itself.
In this case, the amount of oil supplied by the pump for lubrication will depend on the position of the eccentric relative to the protrusion on the plunger shaft, and in this example, the amount of oil supplied by the pump is controlled.
Why clamps the chain on a chainsaw?
The reason for this also lies in the deformation of the tire. If, as a result of the impact, it was compressed, then, accordingly, the teeth of the chain will be locked inside the groove of the bar. Also, the reason that the chain does not spin is a breakdown of the adjusting bolt, which is used when installing a new saw element. In order to understand exactly why the chain does not rotate, it is necessary to dismantle the tire and carefully inspect the internal structure of the chainsaw for the presence of debris inside it. You will also need to inspect the instrument air filter for clogging.
If the chain does not stop at idle speed
In this case, you will need to check the integrity of the screws holding the tire. It is possible that, as a result of wear or impact, the threads on them have become unusable.
We deal with typical chainsaw breakdowns
Why does the chain fly off?
Why does it break off, or why it gets jammed during prolonged work with a chainsaw. There may be several reasons why the chain breaks, but the most common of them is mechanical damage to the tire on which the saw element of the tool is held.
Chainsaw chain lubrication system breakdown
There are several typical breakdowns in the chain lubrication system of a chainsaw. These include:
- Lack of oil intake or its intake in too little amount;
- Too much oil, causing it to leak.
Before considering why the chain is not lubricated on the chainsaw, you need to carefully inspect and carefully flush the oil supply channels to the tire. It is quite possible that it is precisely because of their clogging that the chain does not receive the amount of oil it needs.
Often, the problem with oil leakage lies in the oil pump of the chainsaw. If it is defective, then the entire assembly should not be replaced immediately. Very often it will be sufficient to replace only the plunger. In other cases, adjusting the oil pump can help.
Chainsaw adjustment, DIY repair of common faults
Modern chainsaws delight us with their reliability, ease of operation and the presence of many special vibration suppression systems, automatic chain lubrication, and easy starting. But even such a technique fails over time, especially if it is not serviced on time and correctly. We propose to study the characteristic breakdowns of chainsaws and methods of eliminating them with your own hands.
Why the chainsaw cuts crookedly. reasons and repairs
If, when working with a chainsaw, the tire with the chain is pulled to the side, then this indicates one of several common malfunctions:
- The chain teeth are unevenly sharpened;
- The used circuit does not correspond to the parameters of the bus;
- The saw headset of a chainsaw is subject to heavy wear.
In either case, the first thing to do is replace the circuit. To do this, you need to choose a part that will correspond to the parameters specified in the operating instructions for the tool, or use our table to collect chains of chainsaws. If, after that, the chainsaw is sawing sideways, then you need to inspect the tool tire. In case of an accidental impact, it could move, and for repair it will be necessary to install the part as indicated in the images in the instruction manual.
Chainsaw does not cut under load
Even at the same time, it makes strange sounds, then, most likely, the chain tensioning screws are deformed. Defective parts should be replaced immediately for repair.
How to properly adjust the chainsaw carburetor
The vast majority of gasoline saw carburetor models have three adjustment screws:
- idle speed (T);
- low speed (L);
- high speed (N).
The required parameters are set by rotating these screws.
Use an electronic tachometer to fine tune the carburetor. It will make it easy to determine the engine speed of the chainsaw.
A carburetor is a mechanism that is responsible for preparing a mixture of fuel and air, which is then fed into the engine cylinder. Most chainsaws have very similar carburetors, so they are set up in the same way.
The main structural details of the chainsaw carburetor:
- Aluminium case. Aluminum is chosen as a material for its low weight. Chainsaws are a tool that must always be held in hand and carried, therefore, reducing the weight of the tool is a very important task facing the manufacturer.
- Diffuser and choke, which are located at the inlet of the carburetor.
- Jets. valves that provide the dosage of fuel that is supplied to the carburetor.
- Sprayer, which is responsible for injecting fuel into the chamber.
- Fuel chamber.
Chainsaw carburetor adjustment
Chainsaws are a very popular gardening tool. They have gained great popularity among gardeners and those who care for the territory in the local area. Chainsaws are not complete without construction or repairs. Chainsaws are even more important in the lumberjack profession.
Any chainsaw requires proper care, maintenance and adjustment before operation. Overloading the tool can shorten its life and damage the tool.
Today we will talk about that part of the chainsaw mechanism, the task of which is to prepare the fuel before it is fed into the engine cylinder. This function is performed by the chainsaw carburetor. It will depend on him how well the chainsaw works and how much fuel it spends during operation. If you see that the petrol chain saw is not working properly, the carburetor may need to be adjusted.
In what cases is it necessary to adjust the carburetor of the chainsaw?
Here is a list of the most common cases in which you need to adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw:
- The engine starts, but the chainsaw stalls, or it cannot be started at all. Too much air in the fuel chamber may be the cause.
- Increased fuel consumption. It can occur due to excessive saturation of the mixture that enters the engine with fuel. For the engine to work well, the mixture must be of good quality.
- The bolts in the carburetor have lost their hold due to a damaged carburetor housing.
- Debris entering the carburetor. This can happen if the filter is damaged or poor quality fuel is used. You will need to completely disassemble the carburetor, flush it and re-adjust.
- Engine idling poorly or not delivering full power.
Important! If the engine is not performing well due to a worn piston, carburetor tuning will not work. In addition, along with the adjustment, it is advisable to clean the carburetor of debris. this will increase the efficiency of the procedure.
Idle speed adjustment
First of all, you need to find the position in which the idle speed will be highest by turning screw L. When you find this position using the tachometer, you need to turn the low speed screw (L) a quarter (1/4) counterclockwise. The chainsaw chain can rotate during this process. If this happens, loosen the idle screw (T) counterclockwise until the chain stops moving completely.
How does a carburetor work?
- When the engine is started, the air damper is opened in the carburetor.
- The movement of the piston reduces the pressure in the air valve. This causes air to flow into the diffuser. The exact amount depends on the position of the air damper.
- Fuel enters the float chamber. The jets regulate the speed at which this happens.
- Gasoline and air mix with each other in the diffuser to form a fuel-air mixture. She goes to the cylinder. The mixture can be lean (a lot of air, little gasoline) or rich (little air, a lot of gasoline). The amount of the mixture entering the engine is directly proportional to its power and speed.
All processes occurring in the engine are not cyclical, but a constant basis.
Basic carburetor adjustment
Screws H and L must be turned clockwise as far as they will go and then unscrewed 2 turns in the opposite direction. This is the standard procedure for setting up popular chainsaws for the first time. Other options are also possible.
How to set the maximum speed of the chainsaw?
To change the maximum revolutions, you need to interact with screw H. If you tighten the screw, the revolutions will become higher, and if you unscrew. lower. As a rule, the highest permissible engine speed ranges from 11500-15000 per minute. If you try to work with an even higher number, the ignition problem will begin. In this case, the screw is slightly unscrewed.
Chainsaw tuning work
Chainsaw adjustment work is divided into two groups:
- setting up individual nodes;
- preventive tool maintenance.
Stihl semi-synthetic oil
Very often, the owners of such chainsaws wonder what kind of oil can be used for the saw. Her work can be influenced by:
- cutting headset;
- wood species.
To solve this problem, Stihl has developed a multipurpose semi-synthetic oil. It fits all high speed chainsaws. Chains can be lubricated with this oil under all conditions. The tool will work flawlessly.
Since Stihl semisynthetics are intended for chains, they are made from special high-quality materials that do not contain various toxic substances that can cause cancer. The oil fully meets the most stringent environmental requirements.
The Russian climate is rather harsh. In our country, there are areas where frosts often exceed values of 20 ° C. Stihl’s newest chainsaw chain oil has been specially formulated to work in cold conditions. In this frost, it demonstrates excellent fluidity.
Special additives in the oil do not allow oiling of the cutting set, they will extend the life of other lubricated parts as well. Saw with such oil can be started easily even after long storage.
The use of this chain lubricant will reduce the wear on the saw chain. Due to the high endurance of the oil at high temperatures, the cutting attachment is ideally protected. Such oil is not afraid of peak temperature load. Smoke almost never appears.
Certainly, whoever owns chainsaws knows how important is not bad and high-quality oil. And, everyone dreams, there is no need to say what is really, that this is a typical “life force” of this device for the production of real and effective work. Today there is an unlimited number of oils and, as the proverb says, the choice is very large.
But, often, not every owner of electrical engineering of this kind knows what kind of oil you need to take for your own steel friend, so that the work of the chainsaw is not only easy, but also productive. Therefore, below will be considered the issue of the correct choice of the manufacturer Stihl. Also, what it is, to assist the chainsaw in its specific activity, and not harm it. What is needed, let’s get started.
The carburetor is one of the components that ensure the stable operation of the chainsaw. The speed of the speed set, the output power, the uniformity of cutting depends on it.
Adjustment of the unit is reduced to setting the minimum and maximum revolutions of the internal combustion engine, as well as setting the idle speed. This is done independently or with the help of a professional master.
With a properly adjusted, clean carburetor, the engine will:
- immobility of the chain in idle mode;
- smooth and fast set of speed of the chainsaw engine;
- during operation, the gasoline unit sounds like a 4-stroke engine.
The chainsaw consists of several large independent units.
- The internal combustion engine is designed to generate mechanical energy that is used to drive the chain saw.
- The gearbox transmits the torque from the engine to the cutting tool. It is a set of gears and countershafts.
- The clutch is an intermediate link between the gearbox and the chain. It is used for short-term breaking of the chain “reducer. chain”. Keeps the chain saw motionless when idling. Interrupts or weakens the transmission torque in abnormal situations (for example, braking the saw to a complete stop), which allows the engine to run without stalling.
- An automatic brake interrupts the operation of the chain when it breaks, rebounds from the tree being processed, or abnormal operating modes occur.
- Bar. guide for chainsaw.
- Chain tensioning mechanism.
- Chain lubricator and other elements.
Let’s talk about the oil supply device directly to the chain
Mainly, I want to put an emphasis on what remains to be done for our client. Stihl chainsaws are quite small in size, but, nevertheless, they are very massive. These features attract future buyers of this kind of equipment to the models of this company. In addition, you can easily and easily create various manipulations with this device regarding work with wood (see how to cut a tree).
Chain oil feeder
Lubrication Hole Pattern.
Before starting to operate chainsaws, you need to check the lubrication system of the chainsaw chain. To this end, you need to hold the end of the tire by placing a sheet of paper under it. When the revolutions increase, an oily streak should form on the sheet.
Proper chain lubrication greatly increases the life of the chainsaw headset. If there is not enough oil, the device will run dry. The cutting headset will break quickly. Friction of parts should be minimal, therefore all guides, hinge joints should be covered with an oily film.
When the chain runs on the guide bar, the lubrication system must provide a constant flow of oil. This function is performed by the oil pump. It supplies the right amount of oil to the guide rail and its groove.
The drive links of the chain spread the oil over the total length of the groove. The guarantee of correct
chain lubrication is considered:
- fine tuning of the oil pump;
- fully filled oil tank;
- the right choice of oil.
Before starting work, it is necessary to constantly monitor the operation of the lubrication system. Correct lubricant supply is determined on the sides of the chain, they must be lubricated at all times.
The main parameters of the chainsaw chain.
The need for lubricants is always different. It all depends on what needs to be cut. When the cutting length reaches large values, the wood has high hardness and thick bark, it is necessary to have a large supply of oil.
If there is smoke on the cutting attachment or the chain stops, we can talk about a lot of heating. The main reason is lack of lubrication. Other reasons could be:
- blunt chain;
- strong tension.
Main characterizing points
Stihl chainsaw chain lubrication system consists of:
- guide rail;
- saw chain;
- oil pump.
The oil supply by the pump has a special regulation. Chainsaw chain lubrication occurs constantly during the operation of the machine. Therefore chainsaw chains have a long service life.
During operation, the chain requires a constant supply of lubricant. Its continuous supply must be ensured. This is required by the design of the device. During the operation of the chainsaw, the oil leaves the groove of the tire, instantly absorbed by the sawdust.
For this reason, the chain is lubricated automatically. Some chainsaw chains are equipped with a system that regulates the exact amount of lubricant supplied. The cheapest devices are equipped with a hand pump, which is powered by a drive located on the handle.
Scheme for checking the operation of the chain lubrication system.
A special oil has been specially developed for good lubrication of the chain. After work, it quickly decomposes, so there is no violation of the ecological system. You can also use oils of the brand:
Transmission grease is absolutely not suitable for work. In winter, it freezes, as a result, the oil system clogs up, you have to completely clean it.
In winter, chain lubrication requires special attention. Branded oil “M-20” thickens in severe frost and resembles petroleum jelly. Therefore, to work in winter, it is necessary to lubricate chainsaws with special winter oil, which has a more liquid consistency.
It is not always possible to purchase such a lubricant. To solve the problem, diesel fuel is mixed with oil, the viscosity is lowered. However, if the previously filled oil remains in the crankcase, then the addition of diluted oil will not have a positive effect, the system channels will remain clogged. There is only one way out. heating the chainsaw in a warm room.
If the chain oil does not solidify too much, you can try to melt it by running the saw at low idle.
Chain tension adjustment is carried out:
- when installing the chain on a chainsaw after sharpening;
- when the tension is released during the operation of the chainsaw;
- when replacing a worn out or broken chain with a new one.
The chain is tensioned with a special screw. Most often, for convenience, it is placed on the side surface. The tension force is adjusted empirically. The normal position of the chain is determined by the bar, while the lower part of the chain cannot have a gap, since it should not sag.
The degree of tension is determined manually. with a hand wearing a protective glove, the chain is scrolled. With the normal arrangement of the chain in the tire, the movement of the cutting tool should be carried out freely, without much effort.
Note: when adjusting the chain tension, the brake must be in a free state. unlocked.
Advice: when using the saw in winter conditions, the tension must be carried out on a heated saw. the metal elements expand from the temperature rise and the chain can sag. At the end of the work, the tension should be loosened. during cooling, an excessive load may occur from the contraction of the metal during cooling.
