How To Assemble A Tiller Plow

Single-body and double-body

Single-furrow plowshares are ideal only for soft ground, their design does not include more than one share. The advantage of such equipment is that it is easy to assemble, it has a low weight.

The two-furrow plow is suitable for working on any soil, as long as there are no stones. With the help of such attachments, you can create furrows, huddle plants, clean the area from weeds.

It is desirable that the tiller, on which the equipment is to be installed, demonstrates up to 3-5 horsepower.

The width of capture can be adjustable or fixed on such equipment.

Types and their design features

When making a plow, a special metal is taken that is able to withstand the load during operation.

How to install and adjust?

It does not matter which plow is used with the equipment. this attachment must be attached using a special mount.

It can be of two types:

  • stationary;
  • universal.

The first option is better considered in more detail, since it allows you to configure the device as needed.

Hitch is carried out in accordance with the following sequence.

  • First, you need to put the unit on a hill. it can be just bricks or logs.
  • A hitch is applied to the towbar in such a way that the holes coincide completely.
  • Using a bolt, the clutch is fixed, but it is not necessary to tighten the threads too much, as the increased rigidity will cause poorly performed work. If excessive resistance is created during the operation of the attachment, the plow begins to throw from side to side. This is why a small gap is required.

Can be attached to the rear adapter if available.

Even a beginner will not be difficult to fix the plow.

The adjustment process can also be divided into several stages:

  • determination of the required depth to which the plow will sink into the ground;
  • adjustment of the angle of inclination of the field board;
  • blade angle adjustment.

Not every operator knows how far the plow is best to sink into the ground. In fact, this value should be equal to the height of the metal part of the bayonet-shovel. If it is too small, then all roots and weeds will remain in the ground; will be too large. the infertile layer of earth will mix with the fertile.

Set up using three bolts located at the junction of the plow shank and the lock. Raise the attachment or lower it. the operator decides.

A screw handle is used to adjust the incline level of the board. The technique is again raised on bricks or logs, the handles will need to be turned out so much that the field board is on the ground. The handle is turned in the opposite direction until the board is above the ground at a distance of three centimeters. If this indicator is made too large, then the plow will constantly cling to the ground, so the tiller begins to slip.

If you do not do it right and set the parameter to the minimum, then the technique will not be able to process the required layer.

When performing work on adjusting the blade angle, the equipment is placed on the edge of the area that needs to be processed. The first starting furrow is made to understand what depth is present and if it is suitable. The operator must walk straight; if there is no experience, then a stretched rope will help. The wheel is set in the track made, and the plow is set perpendicular to the ground surface. If you have a square at hand, you should definitely use it.

Assembly diagram

If the plow is made independently, then after all the elements are available, they must be correctly assembled into a single structure. The ploughshare will need to be placed on an additional sheet using wedges with an angle of 25 and 42 degrees. The element must be welded, but they do it pointwise and necessarily on both sides.

The side shield is attached to the share so that it is located in a vertical plane, but protrudes by 7 millimeters. In turn, the shield must be 8 millimeters higher than the share blade. if this requirement is not met, then the plow will not be able to fulfill the task assigned to it. The shield is also welded. The blade is attached to the share, and this must be done in such a way that there is not even a minimum gap.

If it is found that there is no compliance with the required parameters, then the blade should be brought to the required position with a hammer.

Only then do they work again with welding and attach the shield from the side to the spacer bar and the plate at the base. With the help of a chisel, an additional sheet is separated, the seams are polished with high quality.

The plow has long been widely used as a means of preparing land for planting; over time, it was possible to modernize and even use it as an additional attachment for agricultural machinery.

Reversible

Reversible plows are used on soil that is difficult to cultivate. The required power of the tiller is taken into account when choosing a share of higher or lower weight. It is quite difficult to make such equipment yourself, since the pen is bent at an exact angle.

This design helps to turn the soil as soon as the plow lifts it.

Characteristics

A plow for a tiller is an indispensable device, in the design of which there are three planes. One is dump and is located in front, the second is horizontal and the third is vertical. If you remove it and put it on the table, leaning one part against the wall, then the horizontal will coincide with the surface of the table, and the vertical will coincide with the walls.

It is very important to take into account the dimensions of the lower incisal edge, which is 10–20 millimeters from the horizontal plane. On a good product, the cutting edge on the left is on the same line with the same edge of the blade.

The projection distance of both is 1 cm from the end of the vertical surface. There should be no gap between the share and the blade, and they themselves should sparkle from polishing.

When the work on using the plow is completed, it must be cleaned. Remove soil and lubricate with oil. This is the only way to protect the metal surface from corrosion. Special attention should be paid to the height of the plow rack and, in general, the dimensions, since the quality of the work done depends on them. The back side of the share must be absolutely flat, and an angle of 20 degrees is observed between it and the installation surface.

How to remake a finished plow?

An already finished plow can always be altered if necessary. For example, a simple horse version can be easily changed to a walk-behind tractor. Almost all horse plows are distinguished by an impressive weight due to the presence of a heavy blade. If such an element is installed on a tiller without preliminary alteration, the earth simply will not be thrown away. To convert a horse plow into a walk-behind tractor, the work is carried out in a certain sequence.

  • A dump is being built. A detailed drawing is prepared for him in advance. Based on the diagram, a dump is cut out of a steel billet. It is advisable to prepare a cardboard template for this.
  • Gives steel to the required shape.
  • They remove the horse blade and fix in its place a hand-made part.
  • Remove handles that were on a vertically oriented axis.
  • Instead, metal fasteners are fixed. Through them, the plow is attached to motor vehicles.

If, during the “tests” in the field, it suddenly turns out that the device does not throw the ground very well, then you can gently bend the share so that it can hit the soil more strongly.

Disk

It is possible to assemble a disc plow for equipment with your own hands. A similar model is assembled from parts:

  • disks;
  • fist;
  • axles;
  • bracket;
  • scraper;
  • leading beam;
  • pens;
  • screeds.

Discs for the device can be taken from an old “seeder”, if there is one in the arsenal. Install these elements at an angle to increase productivity. The hiller is hung on the equipment through the coupling bracket. The T-shaped plow leash is screwed to it with bolts and a stopper. At an impressive speed, the hiller may start to slip, so you will have to work exclusively at low speeds or with paired wheels.

Installation and adjustment

After finishing work on the construction of the plow, it should be fixed on the tiller. But before that, preparatory measures are carried out:

  • moving the tiller to the place where they plan to operate it;
  • dismantling the wheel drive. it must be replaced with special lugs (if they are not installed, then the plow will not work for planting the same potatoes. the equipment will slip and may “bury” in the ground).

After this stage, proceed to the installation of the plow.

  • The plow is attached to the coupling of agricultural machinery using nuts. Thanks to this, it will be possible to independently set its performance characteristics.
  • 2 securing pins are prepared. With their help, the couplings and the plow itself are attached to the earring.

After completing the preparation, they begin to adjust the installed plow. It is from this stage that it will depend on how efficient both the plow and the tiller itself will be. For the correct installation of the structure, you need to pay attention to:

  • width;
  • plowing depth;
  • incline.

Setting up takes place step by step.

  • On the extreme sections, the width is set. For this purpose, the edge should in no case move below or above the toe.
  • The equipment is placed as steadily as possible on special stands so that it becomes possible to set the depth required for plowing. We must not forget that this parameter can vary depending on the season.
  • It is necessary to carefully adjust the very attachment of the plow to the equipment.
  • Bolting is carried out in such a way that the rear half of the plow is located on a single mowing line with the soil.
  • Now agricultural machinery can be removed from the stand.

After that, the technique can be considered tuned and adjusted if the steering wheel of the equipment is located at the same level with the belt of the working.

Blueprints

If it is decided to build a blade or a plow for motor vehicles, then you cannot do without drawing up detailed and correct drawings. The reliability and durability of a homemade part largely depends on its well-designed scheme. Based on the rich experience of the professionals who regularly make good tiller plows, it is recommended to make the share in such a way that it can be removed quickly and without problems. With such a function, sharpening this part will be greatly simplified, and it will be possible to safely resort to it before plowing the land on the site.

9XC alloy steel is the best choice for making the cutting component of the plow. The material is mainly used for making discs intended for simple hand saws. Steel 45, which has been hardened to the optimum hardness level, can be used. If there is only simple steel in stock, for example, carbon steel, which cannot be heat-treated, then by removing the cutting edge piece (using an anvil) and then grinding it off, you can safely use steel to work with the soil.

When drawing up a drawing of a future plow on your own, it is recommended to rely on accurate diagrams. A self-made structure will be assembled from the following components:

  • a metal pipe that serves as a load-bearing part;
  • wheels required to move the structure over the soil;
  • working cutting part with or without blades (cutting elements of old devices can be fixed);
  • attachment mechanism to the tiller itself.

When drawing up a drawing of a future plow, it is important to indicate the parameters of the future design in it. Not a single element is overlooked. In this case, when using the circuit, you will get a high-quality and reliable device.

How to make?

Modern tiller models can be equipped with a reliable DIY plow. Varieties of this element: double-turn, reverse, double-body, rotary, or Zykov’s product. There are quite a few options for manufacturing a structure. There are even options in which the body is made from a gas cylinder. It is not difficult to make a high-quality plow for motor vehicles on your own if you follow certain rules.

Dimensions (edit)

The dimensions of different types of plows may vary. You can consider the parameters of the parts using the example of a rotary instance. It is taken into account that the rotary view of such a device is assembled from the following bases:

  • side vertical part of the runner;
  • horizontal plane from the bottom of the runner;
  • front moldboard.

The most productive plow is considered to be the one in which the cutting edge at the bottom of the fixed share is 20 mm below the bottom of the horizontal runner. Another well-aligned part of the plow is the alignment of the cutting edge on the side of the fixed share with the cutting edge on the side of the plow. The share and blade must not protrude more than 10 mm beyond the vertical plane on the side of the runner.

There is one more important nuance. fastening the frontal plane of the blade share without visible slots and gaps, and in the same plane. If we consider these details in more detail, then they should be well polished and, like a mirror, reflect any surfaces. There should be no protruding fasteners under any circumstances. As soon as the plow returns from excavation work, it is advisable to clean it of settled soil and foreign particles. Polished elements must be poured with oil or greased with grease. Next, the mechanisms need to be rubbed with a rag. Thus, it will be possible to protect the structure from aggressive external influences that can lead to the formation of corrosion on the plow surface.

As for the 4th correctly built structure, it includes the flat front surface of the share, which makes an angle of 20 degrees with the flat part of the plow structure. It will equal the angle at the rear of the exposed share. The cutting sidewalls of the share and mouldboard will also have corners of 20 degrees with bases on the side of the furrow. over, the edge located on the side of the blade may be slightly rounded.

Rotary

The manufacture of a structure can be divided into several main stages.

  • A good cylinder-shaped blade is prepared. This must be done exclusively in accordance with the drawing. The part is made of alloyed metal. It is important to follow the drawn up drawing when making the structure yourself.
  • Expose a ploughshare. Insert wedges into an iron sheet (3 mm) at an angle of 45 degrees.
  • Connect the ploughshare to the side of the shield. Be sure to make sure that the plowshare blade is located just below the shield itself (1 cm, no more).
  • Attach the blade to the share.
  • A working half with a share is welded to a metal tube, which serves as a base, using a welding machine. On the opposite side. fasteners to motor vehicles.
  • When the plow is ready, an axle with wheels can be welded in its lower half.

How to make a plow for a tiller with your own hands

Single-body models

Single-body units are the simplest in design. They have only one share and are used for plowing light soils on common garden plots that make up the majority of the land. Such a plow is not suitable for plowing heavy soils and virgin lands; a more powerful structure is required here.

A two-body plow consists of two stapled frames with plowshares. It is used for processing various types of soils and for primary plowing of virgin lands. At the same time will be able to carry out plowing and harrowing, ensures the best quality of soil cultivation.

The advantages of homemade plows

Making a homemade plow with your own hands has a number of advantages over using purchased ones. Its design better meets the requirements corresponding to the cultivated soil: this is the oval angle, the depth of the plowed layer, the width of the plowed area in one pass, as well as the loosening effect.

A self-made plow, taking into account the engine power, will not create an additional load on the tiller, eliminate wheel slip and provide an optimal plowing effect. The use of quality material and adherence to technology will significantly increase the service life. When making a plow, you can provide for the possibility of attaching additional equipment for tillage.

Homemade single-body plow

The simplest, but at the same time effective plow design is a single-body.

This design is applicable for making it with your own hands at home. Manufacturing does not require special tools and devices, as well as special skills, the tools available in the workshop of home craftsmen will be enough.

Rotary plows

Rotary models differ from other designs: the unit consists of a set of curved shares that loosen the soil, placed on an axle driven by the power take-off of the unit. The depth of plowing the soil with a rotary plow is 25-30 cm, and does not require significant efforts of workers.

The rotary plow allows you to plow in different directions, which is important for plowing areas with complex shapes. This design is popular among summer residents for cultivating soil with a sod layer or saturated with roots. Rotary plows are compatible with medium to heavy tillers.

Ploughshare

The experience of the owners, who use tillers equipped with plows in their field work, shows that the ploughshare must be removed periodically in order to sharpen it before starting work. When choosing materials for making a plowshare, we recommend using alloy steel 9XC, used in the manufacture of circular saws.

45 steel can be used, but will need to be hardened to HRC 50-55. It is not excluded the use of conventional steels, including St. 5, which are not hardened, but can be brought to the desired quality if the edge is beaten off with a hammer and sharpened.

Types of plows

When completing the tillers, plows of three types are used, all of them have their own field of application:

  • single-hull and double-hulled;
  • rotary or revolving;
  • rotary.

How to choose the right plow for Tiller Neva?

The plow is a specially shaped share and a heel. It is with this design that it is very convenient and easy to plow stale solid soil. This attachment is made of durable steel, as it performs quite complex work with increased load.

Plows are of different types:

  • Rotary. It has several active blades. The soil is cultivated only in one direction, so you have to constantly return to the beginning;
  • Negotiable. It has the appearance of a feather, which makes the process of plowing very hard and stale soil very simple and quick. In this case, at the end of the furrow, you just need to turn around and continue working;
  • Single-hull. Has only one share and is designed to work on light types of soil.
assemble, tiller, plow

There is one more type. this is Zykov’s plow. It has a special design:

  • support wheel;
  • double-sided body with a share and a blade. This allows not only crushing the earth, but also turning it over;
  • a field board rests against the furrow. This makes the structure more stable;
  • attached to the beam with a stand;
  • swivel mechanism with attachment of plow bodies.

Before starting work, you need to install the plow and set it up.

Tiller plow Neva

Each farmer has in his arsenal such a technique as a plow. And every farmer knows how hard it is to work with such a tool. Tillers have appeared on the modern market that can greatly facilitate work on the ground. Tiller Neva is one of the most popular and reliable units in our country.

The plow for the tiller Neva is an attachment that allows you to quickly and effortlessly process the soil before winter, as well as in the spring before planting plants.

How to install and adjust the tiller plow?

In this section we will show you how to set up a plow on the Neva tiller. The plow and hitch are the most important parts, without which you cannot plow the field with a tiller. They need to be properly assembled and adjusted.

Each model of a tiller has its own hitch. Sometimes preliminary work is required to secure it. You can find out how to attach the hitch from the instructions for the tiller. The original hitch guarantees a reliable connection between the machine and the attachment.

Plow adjustment also requires certain knowledge and takes place in several stages:

  • adjustment of deepening into the ground;
  • adjustment of the slope of the field board in relation to the nose of the share;
  • plow blade tilt adjustment.

How to make a plow for a tiller with your own hands?

You can make a plow for a tiller yourself. This will save you a lot of money. To do this, you will need tools and materials that each owner has in the garage.

First you need to draw up a drawing. Without it, you may have problems, and in the end, nothing will work.

Ploughshare

A piece of steel about 5 millimeters thick is required. The removable share can be made from a circular saw blade. The working part of the part, which will cut the ground, must be processed on an anvil, and then sharpened.

Dump

You will need a pipe with a diameter of 0.5 meters. In this case, the wall thickness should be no more than five millimeters. A part is cut out according to a pre-made cardboard blank, also processed on an anvil and sharpened.

After that, the parts are collected. For starters, you can do all this with cardboard blanks. And if all the parameters are met, and the plow itself is correct and reliable, then you can proceed with the metal parts.

How to adjust a homemade plow? In the same way as the factory one. With the difference that in case of incorrect work, you can bend and correct the parts yourself with a hammer.

Setting up the plow before starting plowing

When starting plowing, it is necessary to correctly adjust and adjust the position of the plow relative to the ground. This procedure is carried out in several stages: before the start of plowing and during the plowing of the first track.

We suggest watching a video, which describes in detail how the plow is set up for the Oka tiller:

How to assemble a homemade plow

It is noteworthy that the equipment of the Kaluga plant is universal. you can install both native Kaluga attachments and hinges from other manufacturers to tillers from this manufacturer. The main thing is that the couplings fit.

An alternative can be tools from such manufacturers:

  • Vsevolzhsky RMZ.
  • “Mobile K”, producing Tiller Mole.
  • PC “Rusich”.
  • Gagarin LLC “MOBIL K”.

But this is not the limit. Modern craftsmen are able to make with their own hands a plow, a coupler of the required size, and any other tool for the tiller Oka.

There are many different drawings, diagrams, descriptions and videos on the Internet, where it is described and shown in detail how to properly assemble a homemade plow and a hitch, how to install and adjust them, as well as how to plow with a hitch.

We offer several options for drawings of homemade plows and couplings:

The purpose of the plow

So what is the plow used for in agriculture? This implement is designed for plowing lands of different densities in order to prepare the soil for further sowing.

The layer of soil is trimmed with a ploughshare and turns over from bottom to top, while the bottom layer of soil is outside, and the top one with weeds moves down. The soil becomes loose, soft.

We offer you to see a schematic drawing depicting a plow for a tiller:

As you can see, the plow is connected to the tiller by means of a special coupling device (hitch), which can either come with the tiller or be sold separately.

There are two types of couplings:

  • universal adjustable (angle of attack, horizontal, etc.);
  • unregulated.

The KaDvi plant, which produces Tilleri Oka, also produces adjustable coupling devices, with the help of which various attachments and trailed equipment can be connected to the motorized unit.

The manufacturer manufactures screw couplings that allow smooth adjustment of the plow penetration into the soil.
