Carburetor Adjustment Husqvarna 365

For the most part, the main parts and mechanisms of the Husqvarna 365 chainsaw do not cause any complaints. Nevertheless, the owners of the chainsaw sometimes still face breakdowns of certain parts of the tool.

One of the most common headaches for model owners is when the Husqvarna 365 XP chainsaw won’t start. This is usually due to the use of the wrong engine oil. The first thing to do in such a situation is to inspect the plug and carburetor device for traces of engine oil.

The algorithm for further actions is as follows:

  • Remove the upper housing cover by unscrewing the bolts holding it;
  • Carefully remove the candle and inspect it carefully;
  • If necessary, clean the part by removing dried engine oil stains from it;
  • Set the spark plug aside and remove the rest of the body protecting the carburetor of the Husqvarna 365 XP chainsaw. Rinse and dry the parts thoroughly;
  • Remove the screws and remove the carburetor;
  • Disassemble the assembly and remove oil stains;
  • Treat the walls of the carburetor with a household degreaser;
  • Wait until the elements are completely dry and reassemble the Husqvarna chainsaw in the reverse order.

DIY chainsaw repair

If a Husqvarna 365SP chainsaw malfunctions, for diagnostics and repair, it is better to contact the manufacturer’s service center, since this is a very complex tool and at the same time not cheap. Self-repair, without the presence of certain skills, can only aggravate the situation, and as a result, you will have to pay more, even if the saw just needs to replace the throttle cable.

Of course, in cases where it is not possible to contact the experienced masters of the official service, then you can repair the chainsaw yourself, but this will require a special tool. Namely:

  • A vacuum gauge is a device designed to check the tightness of the carburetor and crankcase;
  • A special Husqvarna screwdriver for removing the muffler and cylinder;
  • Electronic tachometer to determine the number of engine revolutions and correct carburetor adjustment;
  • A piston stopper in order to block the crankshaft stroke and unscrew the flywheel mounting nut and clutch;
  • Compressor, for cleaning the saw from dust and dirt.

With all these tools and some knowledge of the operation of a two-stroke engine, you can get to work.

To familiarize yourself with the repair process, below, you can see, which shows how the Husqvarna 365 SP is disassembled and assembled. The first part is disassembly:

The second part is the assembly:

Advantages and disadvantages

By all accounts, the Husqvarna chainsaw meets the requirements and requests of operators and service specialists in all respects.

In the time-tested advantages of the tool:

  • A large supply of power and torque of the power unit;
  • High level of maintainability and self-service;
  • Efficient operation of the vibration damper and accurate balance, ensuring a comfortable level of operator work and stable performance throughout the shift;
  • Original, ergonomic configuration of the handles, contributing to a secure grip of the tool in hard-to-reach places.

Users note the excellent quality of factory assembly and equipment, convenient access to adjustment and tuning points, the necks of the fuel and oil tanks, and the chain tensioning mechanism. The design of this model provides the ability to quickly eliminate failures and simple malfunctions directly at the work site.

Husqvarna-236

This model replaced the favorite 137th.

Having a slightly lower power (1.4 kW), adding 100 g in weight, it gained a 40-cm guide bar and, most importantly, a new engine, 20% more economical than its predecessor, with a higher torque and a wider rpm range, which did the job with this saw is even more comfortable and slightly expanded the range of its use.

True, and its cost has increased slightly and today amounts to almost 11 thousand rubles, but if we convert to the current dollar rate (and these saws are produced in Sweden and the USA), then everything will fall into place.

When carburetor adjustment is necessary?

The reasons why this unit will need to be adjusted can be listed for a very long time.

Among the main malfunctions are the following:

  • Increase in idle speed;
  • The appearance of a large amount of smoke during operation;
  • Deterioration of starting properties;
  • Insufficient tool power when cutting.

This is not a complete list of all known faults. Sometimes a procedure such as adjusting the carburetor on a Husqvarna chainsaw needs to be done after a major overhaul of the power plant or after maintenance.

The developers of Husqvarna 137 write in the passport that the carburetor adjustment must be carried out before and after running the tool.

What you need to adjust your Husqvarna carburetor yourself?

To correctly adjust the carburetor of the chainsaw, you need to stock up on the appropriate tool in advance.

You will need the following list:

  • The most common screwdriver, with which you can unscrew or tighten the adjusting screws;
  • A tachometer designed to count the revolutions of the crankshaft. It is necessary when adjusting the idle speed, since it is quite problematic to determine the number of revolutions per minute by ear;
  • Phillips screwdriver. It is needed so that it is possible to unscrew the screw (T);
  • Compressor with a special gun connected to them. The blowing device will help get rid of excess debris and dirt, since the carburetor must always be clean.

Adjusting the carburetor of your Husqvarna chainsaw

Like all other saws, the husqvarna has the same carburetor adjustment algorithm. Therefore, the instructions will be relevant for other tools and models of chainsaws such as Husqvarna 142, 236.

Before starting work, make sure that the air filter is clean and that all other components are working correctly. The fuel supply to the float chamber should work without interruptions, and the ignition system is configured correctly and has a fresh spark plug.

  • Set the carburetor to factory settings. This must be done with the engine stopped.
  • Now you can start the engine and be sure to warm it up for a few minutes. Adjustment of the XX carburetor of the Husqvarna 137 is carried out only on a warm engine.
  • Turning screw L clockwise, you need to set the highest crankshaft speed, then turn back a quarter of a turn. Adjust the speed of the crankshaft with the screw T so that the chain does not rotate. It should not be set in motion without pressing the accelerator.
  • Now you need to set the maximum speed and their power. It is enough to connect the tachometer to the ignition system and set the maximum possible speed using the accelerator. Compare them with your passport data. If they differ, then unscrew or tighten screw H. By changing the range, you can create restrictions to make the saw work efficient and save the motor resource.

What you should pay attention to?

Once your Husqvarna carburetor adjustment is complete, you need to make sure the engine is running smoothly and the saw can easily rev up and down. The idling of the chain is considered abnormal, so it is necessary to re-adjust its connection to the clutch with the screw H.

Do not forget that the assembly is not immediately set up: you need to wait a while, as the Husqvarna chainsaw does not immediately respond to changes in the position of the screws. This time can range from 5 to 15 seconds. This time does not prescribe the table, so you can only find out experimentally.

If, after adjustment, a huge amount of smoke appears during operation, then the supply of the fuel and oil mixture must be adjusted. For these purposes, rotate the screw L.

How to repair a Husqvarna carburetor with your own hands?

During operation and diagnostics, defects in the carburetor may be found. Most of them can be eliminated on their own with a minimum of knowledge and without contacting a specialized repair center.

Among the methods of elimination are:

  • Replacement of various gaskets at the joints of sealed parts;
  • Cleaning or replacing the filter elements of the carburetor;
  • Replacement of pump elements or valves;

Almost all of the above parts can be positioned as a repair kit, which is used for minor repairs of carburetors. After installing them, the carburetor of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw can forget about malfunctions for a long time, and the regulation will become easier.

How to adjust the carburetor on a Husqvarna 365 chainsaw

Adjusting the carburetor Husqvarna 372 XP, 365

Adjusting the carburetor of a Husqvarna 372 XP chainsaw involves adjusting the engine to meet local criteria, such as climate, altitude, gasoline quality and type of oil for 2-stroke engines.

The carburetor is equipped with 3 regulation options:

L = Low speed jet.
H = High speed jet.
T = Screw for adjusting idle speed.

The L and H jets regulate the amount of fuel to match the clot of air supplied by the throttle valve.

If the jets are screwed in clockwise, the mixture will be lean (less fuel in relation to the amount of air), and when unscrewing the jets counterclockwise, the mixture will be richer.

A lean mixture gives a higher RPM and a richer mixture. Lower revolutions. How do you adjust the carburetor of the Husqvarna 142? The T screw adjusts the position of the damper at idle.

If the screw T is turned clockwise, then the number of idle turns will increase, and if the screw is turned counterclockwise, then number of revolutions will decline.

Presetting and running in a Husqvarna 365 XP chainsaw

When checking the work at the factory, a preparatory adjustment of the carburetor was carried out. Preparatory adjustment: H = 1 turn, respectively L = 1 turn.

So that the parts of the Husqvarna saw motor receive sufficient lubrication (running-in), the carburetor is set at a slightly overestimated enrichment of the fuel consistency for the first 3-4 hours of operation.

For such an installation, the maximum number of revolutions is set at 6-700 rpm below the recommended.

If there is no ability to check the maximum number of revolutions with a tachometer, then the H jet should not be installed on the fuel mixture below the preparatory installation.

It is prohibited to exceed the maximum number of revolutions. Adjusting the carburetor on a Husqvarna chainsaw is the basic setting for your chainsaw. If the chainsaw chain is spinning at idle speed, turn the screw T counterclockwise to achieve its full stop.

Adjusting and adjusting the carburetor Husqvarna 137

Husqvarna137 carburetor adjustment

In the picture above, you see three adjustment screws. Each of them has its own purpose: The screw T is needed to adjust the idle speed. Screw L serves to adjust low rpm.

Screw H regulates high rpm.

The order of adjustment: First, with the screw L (rotating it), we look for the highest idle speed. After we have found them, it is necessary to turn this screw a quarter of a turn against the clock hand. If in this position the chain continues to rotate, then by rotating the screw T we achieve its stop.

Then we warm up the engine at full speed in the region of 10-15 seconds and turn the screw H a quarter counterclockwise. We wait 10 seconds and listen. The engine should work as a 4-stroke in sound. If a screeching sound is heard, the mixture is poor (unscrew the screw), if it smokes, the mixture is enriched (tighten the screw).

After adjusting the low and high speed, we set the idle speed with screw T. This is done as follows: 1. The engine must be running 2. Turn the screw T clockwise until the chain starts to rotate.

3.Rotate the screw in the other direction until the chain stops.

With a properly adjusted carburetor, your chainsaw quickly picks up speed and sounds like a 4-stroke engine.

Remember that a tachometer and experience are required to properly adjust the carburetor of your chainsaw. Therefore, it is better to contact a specialized service.!

Fuel and lubrication system for chainsaws Husqvarna 365, 372

Adjusting the carburetor of a Husqvarna 365, 372 XP chainsaw Adjusting the carburetor of a Husqvarna 365, 372 XP chainsaw involves adjusting the engine to suit local conditions, such as climate, altitude, gasoline quality and type of oil for 2-stroke engines.

The carburetor is equipped with three adjustment options:

L = Low speed jet. H = High speed jet.

T = Screw for adjusting idle speed.

The L and H jets regulate the amount of fuel to match the air flow supplied by the throttle valve. If the jets are screwed in clockwise, the mixture will be lean (less fuel in relation to the amount of air), and when unscrewing the jets counterclockwise, the mixture will be richer. A lean mixture gives higher revs and a richer mixture. Lower revolutions. The T screw adjusts the position of the throttle at idle. If the screw T is turned clockwise, then the number of idle turns will increase, and if you turn the screw counterclockwise, then the number of turns will decrease.

Presetting and running-in chainsaw Husqvarna 372, 365 XP

When checking the operation at the factory, a preliminary carburetor adjustment was made. Pre-adjustment: H = 1 revolution, respectively L = 1 revolution. To ensure that the engine parts of the Husqvarna saws receive sufficient lubrication (break-in), the carburetor is set to a slightly increased enrichment of the fuel mixture for the first 3-4 hours of operation. For such an installation, the maximum number of revolutions is set 6-700 rpm below the recommended one. If it is not possible to check the maximum number of revolutions with a tachometer, then the H jet should not be set to a fuel mixture below the preset. Do not exceed the maximum number of revolutions. If the chain of the chainsaw rotates at idle, then turn the screw T counterclockwise to bring it to a complete stop.

Fine tuning the carburetor of the Husqvarna 365, 372 XP chainsaw

After the Husqvarna 365, 372 XP chain saw has been running in, it is necessary to fine-tune the carburetor. First adjust the L jet, then the idle screw T and then the H jet. The following maximum number of revolutions is recommended: 12,500, at idle speed 700 rpm. The air filter must be clean and the cylinder cover replaced during adjustment. When adjusting a carburetor with a dirty air filter, the fuel mixture will be too lean the next time the air filter is cleaned or replaced. A too lean mixture will damage the engine. Carefully screw the L and H jets to the bottom and then unscrew them 1 turn. The carburetor is now set to H = 1 and L = 1. Start the chain saw and let it run for about 10 minutes. Place your Husqvarna 365, 372 XP chain saw on a level surface with the bar facing away from you and with both bar and chain in contact with the surface.

Low speed jet L

Find the maximum idle speed by slowly turning the low speed jet clockwise and counterclockwise. When the maximum number of revolutions is found, turn the L jet counterclockwise by 1/8. 1/4 turn.

Fine adjustment of idle speed with screw T

The idle speed setting is carried out by the screw marked with the letter T. If adjustment is necessary, the idle speed screw T should be turned clockwise until the chain starts to rotate. Then turn the screw counterclockwise until the chain is stationary. The correct number of revolutions is considered at which the chainsaw engine works exactly in all positions with a sufficient margin up to such a number of revolutions at which the chain starts to rotate.

High speed jet H

The high speed jet H adjusts the power of the Husqvarna 372, 365 XP chainsaw and the number of revolutions. A too lean mixture at the high speed jet will result in increased saw speed and risk of engine damage. Let the saw run at full throttle for 10 seconds. H = 1. Then turn screw H 1/4 turn counterclockwise. H = 1 1/4. Then let the chain saw run for another 10 seconds and listen for the difference in sound at maximum rpm. Repeat the procedure with the adjustment screw H turned 1/4 turn counterclockwise. H = 1 1/2. The saw now operates at H ± 0, H = 1/4 and H = 1/2 based on the preset. At full throttle, the engine sound will be different for each setting. The H jet is considered correctly seated when the chain saw is running with little noise at full throttle and no load. If a lot of smoke comes out of the muffler and the saw makes noise, then the mixture is too rich. Rotate the H jet clockwise until you achieve the correct sound setting.

Correctly adjusted chainsaw carburetor Husqvarna 365, 372 XP

The carburetor is adjusted correctly when the saw is gaining speed and when it is running quietly at full throttle without load. The chain must not rotate at idle speed. If the mixture on the L jet is too lean, it may be difficult to start the engine and the engine will not revive well. Setting the H jet to an excessively lean mixture will result in lower saw power, poor revs and / or engine damage. An excessively rich mixture on the L and H jets creates problems when gaining speed or gives too low operating speed.
