tiller won’t start on cold

Water has entered the filter and is frozen

Another reason why the fuel is not pumped. water got into it and froze in the filter.

Depending on the design, the fuel filter is maintenance-free (ie it needs to be replaced every 30,000 km) or it has a water drain. How much water accumulates in the filter depends on the quality of the fuel, the ambient temperature, the number of engine start cycles, etc. If you do not drain the water from the fuel filter from time to time, severe frost can cause the ice plug to completely block the flow. diesel fuel into the engine. It is worth checking: if the filter in the machine is equipped with a drain plug, it is worth using it from time to time. Also, do not delay replacing the fuel filter.

For prophylaxis, the tank should be kept as full in winter as possible, use winter diesel fuel or add a dehydrating additive. Also, many diesel engines have a drain plug next to the fuel filter that should be used to drain water that accumulates from time to time. It is worth finding out if there is such an element under the hood.

Diesel is bad or does not start on a cold, reasons and why it smokes?

Are you looking for why it is bad to start a diesel car on a cold or hot winter in frost or summer? Why doesn’t the diesel engine start up in the morning and why does it smoke white, blue or black? In the article, you will find out the reasons why a diesel engine is badly or not turned on cold or hot, as well as why it smokes from the exhaust pipe with white, blue or black smoke.

tiller, start, cold

Almost all owners of diesel cars are faced with the inability to start the engine in winter or the engine starts poorly. it often stalls. What are the reasons and what to do to start your car without problems?

Diesel engine smokes white

White clouds do not always mean something is wrong with the vehicle. If they stop appearing after a while after starting to move, there is probably nothing to worry about. White smoke is often just water vapor accumulated in the exhaust system, for example. This is more noticeable at low temperatures.

However, white and dense exhaust gases that come out of the system despite long distances are a bad sign. The head gasket or the head itself may be damaged. White smoke comes from coolant entering the cylinders. We may feel engine vibration or power drop and notice loss of coolant.

Diesel engine smokes blue

The blue color of the exhaust indicates that the engine is burning oil entering the chambers. Here we can deal with several serious defects. It is possible that the piston rings or cylinder liners are damaged.

Blue smoke can also be a sign that the valve seals are worn or the turbocharger has failed.

Diesel engine smokes black

Black smoke clouds are not unusual for diesel engines. They can appear when the engine is started or when the engine is under load.

If black exhaust gases are also visible during quiet driving, and not when the accelerator pedal is pressed sharply, this is a signal that the injection system has failed. You may need to replace the fuel pump or the injectors themselves. There is also the possibility that the exhaust gas cleaning system has been defective. Black smoke may be a sign that the turbocharger is damaged or the rubber pipes that supply air to the intercooler are leaking.

Black gas is less common in gasoline engines. In their case, a dark color may indicate problems with the control system of the drive unit, for example, as a result of incompletely professional chip tuning. Too much fuel dosed.

Diesel engine smokes gray

Gray exhaust fumes with a strong odor may indicate that the engine is too rich in air / fuel mixture. Fuel can be dosed in too large quantities, for example, due to damage to the temperature sensor.

There are plenty of reasons why a diesel engine won’t start in cold weather.

In order to successfully cope with a diesel car in winter, you need to prepare for the onset of cold weather:

  • recharge the battery (replace with a new one), make sure that the generator is in good working order
  • change engine oil and filter
  • check the condition of the glow plugs
  • change the fuel filter
  • switch to “winter” diesel fuel
  • drive with a full tank

In most cases, even if these measures are followed, problems with starting a diesel engine in the cold will not arise.

But if the engine does not start on a cold one, try adding warm fuel to the tank or warming up the diesel fuel by directing the construction (household) hair dryer to the fuel filter and gas tank. After 10-15 minutes, just warm fuel will drain back into the tank, and only then hit the road.

If the problem is a discharged battery, try to “light” the engine, or better. remove, warm and charge the battery.

Low compression in cylinders

If the engine is no longer young, the reason why it is difficult to start in cold weather may be low compression in the cylinders.

The problem with a worn out, old engine will manifest itself after a long period of inactivity; it will be difficult to start a warm engine. After starting, such a motor will show the wrong speed, more. In neutral, the diesel engine can vibrate and even stall.

The reason for this ineffective engine operation will be in the heavily worn parts of the CPG: gaps are formed between them, the tightness of the cylinders drops, the compression decreases. As a result, the fuel-air mixture does not compress and heat up enough.

And after the diesel engine warms up to operating temperature under the influence of heat, the gaps between the CPG elements are reduced, the tightness increases and the engine starts to work more stably.

Engine oil thickened

If the oil in the crankcase of the diesel engine is too thick or does not match the viscosity index for winter operation, the engine will not start.

Therefore, it is useful to pull out the dipstick and check the condition of the oil, its consistency. If it is viscous, does not flow, you need to change the engine oil.

Glow plugs out of order

They heat the air in the combustion chambers in such a way that when compressed by piston movement, the temperature increases to a level at which the mixture ignites. In older engines, activation is a two-step process: first, we turn on the ignition key while simultaneously activating the glow plugs and wait for the “heating” indicator to go out. it lasts 20-30 seconds.

In newer units, the combustion air is preheated much faster and the engine is ready to start almost immediately. At the same time, glow plugs usually work for a long time. When they fail, even if the engine can be started (it is possible), it shakes, makes a noise for several minutes after starting, and when we try to start, it turns out that there is no power.

Glow plugs break both one at a time and in groups. depending on how many of them “died” depends on whether the engine can be started at all. For most models, buy candles. it’s not a big expense, it’s worse to change them.

Glow plug malfunction is not easy to determine: even if 1 or 2 plugs are out of order, the engine can start, even when outside.

Low-quality candles are enough for a maximum of one season, so you cannot save on the quality of candles.

Check the glow plugs by unscrewing them and measuring the resistance. The fact that there is a problem with the glow plugs, the owner will be prompted by the delay at the moment the motor seizes.

A sign of a relay or control unit malfunction is the absence of a characteristic sound (quiet click) when the key is turned in the ignition before starting the diesel.

Remember, even fast heating glow plugs take a few seconds to work in cold weather. do not turn on the starter too quickly!

Tiller won’t start: reasons for how to properly repair

Owners of tillers, cultivators, motorized towing vehicles and other mini-vehicles sooner or later face a typical problem. their workhorse will not start or start, but stalls when the air damper is opened, starts “shooting”, gasping or “sneezing”. To eliminate the annoying interference, you need to find out the reason for which it occurs, and then carry out proper repairs. This problem occurs on Chinese, Japanese, Korean-made equipment.

DIY Tiller Repair

Unfortunately, any equipment sometimes fails, so its owner needs to be able to troubleshoot on his own. Of course, if the car is under warranty, it is better to take it to a service center, where specialists will carry out warranty repairs for free.

Often, damage to the cultivator or tiller occurs due to improper operation: poor fuel is poured, heavy loads are allowed, or the loss of lubricating fluid is not replenished in time. Then the car starts to stall, “burrow”, it is bad to gain momentum (especially if there is an electric motor on it), or even stops starting altogether. But, knowing the device of the unit and the principle of operation of its mechanisms, you can yourself identify the cause of the damage and carry out high-quality repairs.

Reasons why the tiller won’t start and how to fix them

There are several reasons why motor vehicles do not start when starting. These include:

  • damage to the carburetor (in tillers with a gasoline engine);
  • malfunction of ignition / glow devices;
  • low lubrication level.

When strange changes appear in the cultivator, and its operation becomes unstable, the carburetor is first checked. In this important unit, a fuel-air mixture (FA) is formed and dosing for feeding it into the cylinders of an internal combustion engine (ICE). And if the jets become clogged, the fuel system becomes obstructed, as a result of which the carburetor loses its ability to start the engine. To eliminate the malfunction, the fuel line is repaired: the carburetor is partially disassembled, the pump is washed and the nozzles are blown through the fuel nozzle.

Sometimes the reason that the tiller does not start lies in a malfunction of the spark plugs (the spark is gone), which play an important role in starting the carburetor ICE, or the glow plugs that ensure the start of the diesel engine. If the fuse devices become wet, which happens due to the throwing of their fuel assemblies, then a spark begins to disappear on them. In the absence of sparking, ignition of the air-fuel mixture does not occur, and therefore the engine cannot be started. This problem can be solved in different ways:

  • make minor repairs and replace the inoperative candle with a new one;
  • “Burn through” flooded candles and use fire to clean them of traces of gasoline.

Motorized equipment does not start due to the fact that damage to the glow plugs occurs. In a diesel engine, fuel is ignited by contact with hot air, which is heated in the cylinder by compression by a piston. This happens without any problems when the diesel engine has already warmed up and the operating temperature in it is maintained by the heated cylinder walls. But in cold weather, and especially in winter, the engine is warmed up using incandescent devices and, if they are out of order, it will not be possible to start the tiller.

If, when inspecting a carburetor engine or diesel engine, no defective spark plugs were found, but problems remained, and even accompanied by popping into the muffler, you should check the performance of all devices responsible for the flammability of the fuel. A malfunction in them can also be the reason that the tiller does not start. Diagnostics is best done in a service center, where professionals will find the cause of the damage and competently carry out repairs.

Motorcycles will not start even if the level of lubricant in the engine is insufficient. Some models are equipped with special control sensors, which, in the event of a lack of lubrication, do not allow the engine to start. Particular attention should be paid to those machine variants that do not have such sensors. Sooner or later, the level of the lubricant mixture will reach a critical value and, if it is not replenished to the norm, this will soon lead to wear of parts and, as a result, to overhaul of the engine.

Ignition system repair

The breakdown of devices for ignition of fuel assemblies can be judged by the signs when the engine:

  • starts, but stalls at idle;
  • does not start even with good fuel supply;
  • works at idle, but with some interruptions.

To find out the reason, first check the condition of the candles and, if there is damage to the insulator, replace them. Next, the electrodes are inspected and, if necessary, the gap between them is adjusted. They check the condition of high-voltage wires for oxidation of the tips and insulation breakdowns. the damaged wires must be replaced with new ones. Without such a repair, the spark may completely disappear or it will go through the insulation, piercing the engine case, and will not be able to ensure the ignition of the fuel assembly.

If at this stage a defect with a spark is not found, then perhaps the reason that the equipment does not start or stalls lies in the generator or coil (for models such as Neva, Cascade, it serves to form a spark). To check the generator, a measuring device is connected to its terminals. The tiller starter pulley is scrolled and the readings of the device are recorded. they should be within 12-16 watts. If the indicators are normal, then the reason is contained in the ignition coil, and after replacing it, you can put a load on the engine. Most likely, after such a repair, its performance will resume completely.

Fuel system repair

A breakdown of the fuel system can be asserted if the engine:

  • does not start;
  • stalls under load;
  • overheats;
  • does not function stably at idle.

To eliminate the malfunction, first check the condition of all filters, including air and oil. If they are slightly clogged, blow with compressed air or flush; if they have strong contamination, they are replaced with new ones. Then the carburetor is disassembled, the parts are washed with a special cleaner, the fuel mixture supply valve, the tank and the piston system are cleaned with gasoline. After drying, carefully reassemble.

After the engine is completely assembled, the crankshaft is manually rotated. it is important that the piston moves freely and the valves work flawlessly. Then they pour in fresh lubricant, start the engine and leave it to work at idle. Be sure to check the flow of fuel into the cylinder. Perhaps, after such a repair, the cause of the malfunction will be eliminated, and the tiller will begin to function without interruption.

Preparing the tiller for launch

It is necessary to study the instructions drawn up by the manufacturer in order to find out which operating cycle the engine has: four-stroke (like Forte, Centaur, Lifan, Bison) or two-stroke. This is important to know, since for models with a two-stroke engine (like the Mole cultivator), a special combustible mixture is needed, consisting in a certain proportion of gasoline and oil. Due to the mismatch of the fuel, the equipment will stall, and the spark plugs and the fuel line may also suffer, which is fraught with the failure of the fuel pump. and this is already a direct path to expensive repairs at the service station. You can determine whether the fuel is suitable for motor vehicles by smoke. If the quality of gasoline is poor, it will have a white color, as is the case with a strong tilt of the car. If you have bad gasoline, replace it to prevent damage.

Fuel quality is also important for a diesel tiller. It does not start in winter or does, but soon stalls if summer diesel is poured into its engine. At low temperatures, it begins to thicken and clog the fuel line. In such cases, the risk of breakage increases. Choose the right fuel in cold weather.

The start-up of motor vehicles both in summer and in winter should be carried out in a certain sequence. For example, to start a Krot brand motor cultivator, the following procedure is carried out:

  • open the gas tap;
  • put the choke lever in the “Choke” position;
  • turn off the ignition and turn the engine several times with a manual start-up starter;
  • restart the engine and move the lever to the “Run” position.

Situations often arise when the power unit starts easily, but after a few seconds it stalls. In this case, it is necessary to check the permeability of the sump, perhaps the reason is that the tap is clogged. then it is cleaned with gasoline.

Starting a motorcycle with a diesel engine (such as Bison, Cascade, Centaur, Neva) will be somewhat more difficult than Mole. The diesel engine starts up with “airing” the fuel line, that is, with the release of it from air accumulations. For this:

  • open the fuel supply valve;
  • untwist the connections of the fuel outlet channel until the fuel appears;
  • tighten the connections and blow through the nozzles.

Starting a cultivator after winter or a long downtime also has its own nuances. In order to bring the machine into working condition, the following manipulations are performed:

  • open the gas tap;
  • check if the power is on;
  • check for lubrication;
  • give gas, up to about half.

And, of course, before starting motor vehicles, be it the Centaur, Cascade, Neva, Patriot or Bison, they check all connections, including transmission units, clutch, starting mechanisms and, if necessary, adjust them.

Transmission repair

The following factors indicate a transmission malfunction:

  • the working shaft is motionless, and the output shaft rotates;
  • the engine speed does not match the speed of the working shaft;
  • the engine seems to “choke” from the load.

If at least one of the above reasons manifests itself, they immediately check for the presence of grease in the gearbox. The lubricant in it must be normal, as the lubricant prevents “dry” friction of moving parts and prevents them from overheating.

Then the gearbox is disassembled, the gears are inspected, the chain tension is checked. Whole parts are washed in kerosene, and damaged parts are replaced with new ones. After that, they assemble the structure and make sure that the gears are not skewed.

Before installing the assembled gearbox on the tiller, the shafts are scrolled to make sure that they rotate evenly and without the slightest grinding. The gearbox is filled with fresh lubricant and the motor-cultivator is started. In the absence of a leak under the body, perform simple operations with a rotary tiller or a mounted loader and check the functionality of the tiller. If its working capacity is restored, then all efforts were not in vain, and the repair and maintenance were carried out correctly.

For what reason the tiller won’t start?

In the spring, we take the equipment to the personal plot. Unfortunately, a situation often arises. the tiller does not start. The reasons may be different.

For example, improper storage of equipment in the winter: cold and damp garage, exposure to atmospheric precipitation, vapors of corrosive liquids, gases and particles of bulk materials.

You should also pay attention to the floor of the room where the tiller is stored: floor slabs should be without slopes.

The owner must quickly determine the cause of the failure and troubleshoot the tiller.

Repair of units and mechanisms

Starting a diesel tiller after purchase can be tricky. The fact is that air enters the fuel supply system. If the long cranking (starter) fails to start, then the air locks should be released. To do this, open the diesel supply valve and untwist all connections along the fuel channels. Purge end point is injectors.

In order for the internal combustion engine to start, a number of requirements must be met. Let’s list them in order:

  • Fuel mixture preparation.
  • Fuel supply to the cylinder.
  • Ignition the mixture.
  • Exhaust gas outlet.

The fulfillment of the listed conditions guarantees the start of any motor.

Difficulties in starting indicate a malfunction of components and mechanisms. The success of the repair depends on the correctness of the diagnosis. If defects are found, they are engaged in the repair of a diesel tiller. Maintenance and minor repairs can be done on your own. You will need a set of keys, a locksmith tool and skilled hands.

At the stage of preparing the fuel mixture, the following incidents are possible:

  • the air filter does not allow air to pass through;
  • the hole in the tank lid is clogged;
  • the fuel supply path is clogged;
  • broken carburetor.

After a series of unsuccessful launches, it is useful to unscrew the plug. The working part can be filled with fuel. We dry the part. Next, we pump the cylinder through the hole. We twirl the candle and start it up again.

If the spark plug is dry, it means that no fuel enters the combustion chamber. Let’s take a series of steps to restore the feeding system:

  • drain old gasoline;
  • rinse the tank;
  • clean the filter from dirt;
  • blow out the fuel supply hose;
  • blow out the carburetor jets;
  • fill the tank with clean gasoline;
  • open the tap;
  • clean the airway in the lid.

Starting gasoline and diesel units

the tiller is a multifunctional tool. It is indispensable for home gardening. Attached equipment allows you to perform land cultivation, grass mowing, snow removal, cargo transportation, planting and harvesting.

The equipment is equipped with gasoline or diesel engines. Starting a diesel tiller and a gasoline unit is different. Therefore, the reasons why the tiller does not start should be analyzed for each specific type of engine.

Before starting the tiller, they prepare the technique. It is necessary to make sure that all the parts are present, make sure that the mechanisms are securely fastened.

Mechanisms often refuse to work after winter. A long break will cause malfunction of the tiller systems. Storage in a cold and damp place will result in the following breakdowns:

  • Oxidation of contacts.
  • Violation of wire insulation.
  • Watering of fuel and oil.
  • Clogged carburetor jets.

Before starting a new tiller, all connections, clutch cable, reverse and gas are checked. The movement of the cables should be smooth, effortless. Do not start the unit if there are clamps and twists of the harness threads.

During the first start, be sure to check the oil level in the crankcase. Lack of lubrication will damage the piston group. The crankshaft rotates up to 1400 rpm at idle speed. A couple of seconds are enough for a scuff to form on the surface of the cylinder.

Old oil can cause engine failure. At the same time, the tiller smokes with white exhaust gases. A complete oil change suggests itself.

It should be borne in mind that the tiller does not start well with an insufficient amount of oil. Pay attention to this parameter before starting the carburetor and diesel tiller. On some models, the protection is set to a low level. The sensor blocks the start, and the unit stalls.

It should be remembered that each type of engine requires a specific brand of gasoline. For a two-stroke engine, fuel is prepared separately. The fuel mixture consists of gasoline and oil. The amount of ingredients is kept in a strict ratio.

Buy gasoline for tillers at filling stations. The service life of the machines directly depends on the quality of the fuel. You shouldn’t start a tiller on bad gasoline.

Ignition system malfunctions

The engine will not start if there is a malfunction in the ignition system. Why is this happening? Sources of failure can be magneto, high voltage wire, cap and spark plug. By visual inspection, they check the cleanliness of the parts of the ignition system. Dirt and moisture cause high voltage breakdown to the case. The absence of a spark occurs when the cap is in poor contact with the central electrode of the candle.

A weak spark indicates poor spark plug performance. It is necessary to check the gap and condition of the electrodes. The gap is checked with a feeler gauge. It is usually 0.8 mm. If necessary, remove the fumes from the metal parts and the insulator. Candle replacement recommended.

The condition of the parts of the piston group affects the readiness of the engine as a whole. They work in tough conditions. Under load, rubbing surfaces heat up. The cylinder, piston and rings are responsible for an important indicator. compression. A low compression ratio in the cylinder will indicate replacement of parts.

Also check the intake and exhaust valves. They should fit snugly against the saddles. The muffler is the last point on the route of the exhaust gases. Combustion products are gradually deposited on the walls of the muffler, and the engine stalls. For a normal passage of exhaust gases, the walls should be periodically cleaned from carbon deposits.

Experts advise to adhere to all manufacturer’s recommendations. Do not overload the unit.

Fulfillment of all requirements will extend the service life of the mechanisms.

Before starting work, the owner should read the operating instructions.

Why does a diesel engine not start or does not start well on a cold?

Glow plugs are one of the most common causes of diesel cold start problems. Because they are the most common failures. Inspect them, make sure they work and replace the faulty ones. If they are not the problem, you should check the fuel pump, it is probably giving out too little pressure. In this case, the engine may stop or start poorly as soon as the temperature “overboard” drops below zero.

It is not difficult to determine the malfunction of the injection pump. If the starter motor works normally, the pump starts to function, but the engine does not pick up torque, and white smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe, then try to slightly unscrew the injector nuts. This is so that the fuel can seep into the cylinders. If after this fraud the car starts up, then the problem is most likely in the pump.

Also, if the diesel engine does not start to cold, the reason may be a malfunction of the injectors. They should be checked for the degree of fuel atomization when starting with the starter. If, after checking, you find that fuel is simply pouring out of the injectors, it is probably the reason for them. As a rule, with this malfunction, the diesel engine starts up hot, but the engine smokes more than usual.

We watch the video, airiness of the fuel system, as one of the reasons for a poor start of a diesel engine on a cold one:

The next reason for a malfunction in a diesel engine, which is not always obvious, is engine oil. The fact is that Russian-made diesel fuel contains a significant amount of sulfur, which oxidizes the oil in the engine much faster. Therefore, it should be changed much more often than indicated in the vehicle’s data sheet. In addition, bad “diesel fuel” can lead to another problem that makes starting the engine much more difficult. a clogged fuel filter.

Another fuel-related problem of diesel engines is the untimely transition from summer fuel to winter fuel, and in areas with very low temperatures to arctic. The fact is that when driving in the cold season on summer fuel, paraffin is released during combustion, which over time is deposited on the engine units. In this case, the engine will not start until the car is completely warmed up and the wax is removed.

If none of these reasons is the “root of evil” of the problem, it is worth using a not the most common tool in the arsenal of a car owner. a compressometer. It is necessary to measure the compression in each cylinder and compare them with the indicators from the documentation, which are optimal for the given engine. If the compression level is too low, the diesel is likely to start poorly for this reason. By the way, low compression or a large spread in its values may indicate more serious problems with the engine. In this case, it is recommended to visit a car service.

Why won’t the diesel start on cold? Reasons for Poor Diesel Starting

05 January 2017 Category: Diagnostics of car malfunctions

The diesel engine is considered to be unpretentious to road and weather conditions, and therefore practically “not killed”.

However, experienced car enthusiasts know that diesel engines also have many problems with insufficient care. Some of them are quite specific and do not occur in gasoline engines. Most often, diesel car owners have problems starting the engine in low ambient temperatures.

In this article, we will analyze why a diesel engine does not start on a cold one, the reasons for its poor start. We will also help you determine what exactly the malfunction is. After all, the culprits of this problem can be quite a lot. First, let’s watch a helpful video, an initial definition of the cause of a bad diesel engine start:

How to avoid the problem of poor diesel engine cold start?

First of all, it is necessary to change the type of fuel in a timely manner in accordance with the season in which you plan to operate your car. It is not in vain that in the parks of military equipment, and they, as you know, are mainly equipped with diesel engines, cars are transferred to winter and summer operation for about a month.

In addition to changing the fuel, the oil also changes, since in diesel cars it very quickly loses its lubricating properties. It is also necessary to monitor the tightness of the cooling system and the quality of the fuel used. Bad “diesel fuel” leads to rapid clogging of the fuel filters, and the ingress of water into the fuel mixture can completely disable the high-pressure fuel pump, which is fraught with serious repair costs.

During seasonal maintenance, it is also worth monitoring the compression level, as due to excessively low values, the diesel engine may stop starting altogether. It is also recommended to periodically change the glow plugs or, if this is not possible, at least to clean them of carbon deposits and oil stains, if any. If a diesel engine does not start on a cold one, the reasons can be very varied, and sometimes this problem allows you to identify or even prevent some serious malfunctions.

Correct diesel start in cold weather

It is worth mentioning that sometimes the reason for the difficult start of a diesel engine is a banal ignorance of how to properly start this type of engine in cold weather, which over time can lead to breakdown of individual engine mechanisms.

In any case, warm up the glow plugs at least twice before starting the engine in cold weather. On some engines, this process is accompanied by certain clicks. The first click appears when you turn the ignition key, which indicates the start of heating the glow plugs. The second click, after 10-20 seconds, indicates the shutdown of the heating process. After repeating this procedure several times, you can start starting the engine, after pressing the clutch.

Remember to step on the gas pedal only if your machine is equipped with a mechanically controlled fuel pump. In engines where the injection pump is controlled electronically, this does not need to be done.

Another video why the diesel does not start in the summer:

Why not start a tiller. understand the reasons

Before the start of the season, both the gasoline and diesel tiller need preparation. To do this, the owner of the unit must make sure that the design of the unit contains all the parts necessary for operation, and each of them “sits” tightly in its proper place.

Often, many Tillers equipped with a Subaru engine or motors from other well-known brands refuse to work after a long winter standstill. At the same time, the incorrectly chosen storage conditions of the agricultural machine also affect. if it stood in a cold, damp room, then, most likely, it will not start before the start of spring work. This is due to a number of such malfunctions:

  • Oxidation of contacts in electrical wiring;
  • Violation of the integrity of the insulation of the wiring;
  • Oil and fuel watering;
  • Accumulation of debris in the carburetor jets.

My Tiller won’t start!

Before starting the tiller, its owner must carefully inspect all the connections in the unit design. It is necessary to check the course of the throttle, reverse and clutch cables. it should be soft. If during inspection you find clamps or twisting of the cables, then you cannot start the tiller.

Before starting the chiller for the first time, check the oil level inside the crankcase. If there is no lubricant, this will lead to severe damage to the piston group. Judge for yourself: at a crankshaft rotation speed of 1400 rpm, it will take a fraction of a second for it to form a few burrs on the cylinder surface.

The oil remaining for the winter is one of the main reasons for the unstable operation of the unit motor. It is quite simple to make sure that the tiller does not start well for this very reason. after starting for a few seconds, white smoke will fall from the exhaust pipe of the car, after which the unit will stall. Do not forget that both diesel and gasoline tiller will not start well due to insufficient amount of oil. Some models of units are equipped with low level protection, owners of other machines should independently monitor the volume of oil inside the tank.

Another important factor is the gasoline you use to refuel the tiller. If you regularly fill in fuel of a different brand than the one recommended by the car manufacturer, then this can also cause it to not start.

Do-it-yourself breakdown elimination

Success in self-repair of a tiller largely depends on how correctly you diagnose the unit. The reasons why the tiller won’t start can be hidden in the following:

  • Due to blockages, air does not pass through the air filter;
  • The hole in the fuel tank cap is clogged;
  • Debris has accumulated in the fuel supply channels;
  • Breakage of the carburetor.

Each of these faults can be easily and quickly eliminated by hand. If this is not the cause of the breakdown, and the unit still does not start, then you should unscrew the spark plug and check if there are oil stains on it. If you find oil or thick carbon deposits on the candle, then the part must be cleaned and dried. In addition, drying will also be required for the tiller cylinder. for this, you need to sharply pull out the starter cable several times.

It is often difficult to start a tiller due to the lack of fuel in the combustion chamber. In this case, the candle will be completely dry. If the cause of the breakdown is this, then the following measures will need to be taken:

  • Drain the old fuel completely;
  • Rinse the fuel tank thoroughly;
  • Clean the air filter from clogging;
  • Blow out the fuel supply hose with compressed air;
  • Blow out the carburetor jets;
  • Pour fresh gasoline into the tank;
  • Open the fuel cock;
  • Purge the airway inside the fuel tank cap.

Before restarting, you will need to manually pump fuel by pressing the primer of the fuel pump several times. After starting the engine, be sure to give it time to warm up, after which you can start working with the tiller.

If all the above steps did not help, and the tiller still does not start, then check the inlet and outlet valves. if they do not fit tightly to the seats, then the parts will need to be adjusted by turning the corresponding screws clockwise.

Also, if the tiller does not start, we advise you to pay attention to its muffler. after long-term operation, carbon deposits accumulate on its walls, which must be regularly removed with compressed air.

Why not turn on the tiller?

Despite all the reliability of modern tillers, sooner or later they fail, which is why the unit cannot be started and continued to work on the site. We offer you to study the most common breakdowns of agricultural machines, as well as do-it-yourself methods for eliminating them.

There is no spark on the tiller. we understand the problem

Another common reason that the tiller does not start is a malfunction in the ignition system of the unit. Malfunctions can be lurking in the hood, magneto, spark plug, or in the high voltage wire of the agricultural machine.

When inspecting the ignition system, first of all, you need to carefully check every part for blockages. If a spark has disappeared, then the reason for this is often the ingress of moisture or dirt on the elements of the ignition system. Also, an agricultural machine often does not start due to the lack of the ability to form a spark. the reason for this is poor contact between the center electrode and the spark plug cap.

If you did not find dirt and moisture in the ignition system, and the tiller does not start, then be sure to check the integrity of the electrodes and the gap between them. As a rule, a special probe is used for this. Ideally, the gap should be 0.8 mm. If necessary, remove carbon deposits from the insulator and metal elements of the ignition system.

If the unit does not start, and none of the above procedures helped, then you will need to replace the tiller spark plug. The cost of replacement parts is low, however, when buying, we advise you to give preference to more expensive candles. they will last many times longer than cheaper counterparts.
All of the above methods are suitable for repairing the Mole, Neva MB-1 and MB-2 tillers, as well as Kaskad, Zubr, Agro and Salyut.

Fuel system problems

Very often, the VAZ 2114 injector of 8 valves does not start well in frost due to a malfunction of the fuel system. To check it and identify possible malfunctions, you will have to carry out diagnostics:

  • Electric pump.
  • Fuel filter.
  • Fuel line.

Start troubleshooting by inspecting the fuel pump. It is quite simple to check it. when it is on, it should beep, which will speak of its work. If no sound is heard, then the pump is faulty and it will have to be replaced with a new one of the same model.

Another common cause is clogging or destruction of the filter. Here everything is also simple. you just need to remove and inspect the filter and, if it is worn out, replace it with a new one.

If the filter, like the fuel pump, turns out to be serviceable, you will have to measure the pressure inside the fuel line (for this there are both special devices and whole testers that allow you to diagnose the entire fuel system. The simplest version of such a device costs just over 1,000 rubles). If the pressure in the line turned out to be normal, then you should think about other possible reasons.

VAZ 2114 does not start on a cold. the main reasons

The most common reasons a car won’t start when cold are:

  • electrical problems;
  • fuel supply problems;
  • control unit malfunction.

Below we will consider all these reasons in more detail.

Electrical problems

If you notice that your VAZ 2114 does not start well, then first of all it is worth checking the main electrical components and assemblies that affect its operation.

These include:

  • starter;
  • spark plug;
  • throttle;
  • electronic control unit.

In this case, the check should start with candles.

Before starting troubleshooting, check the condition and charge of the battery. If it is too discharged, then this is what can cause poor starter operation and, as a result, difficulties when starting the engine.

If the battery is in perfect order, then you should carefully study the candles. The presence of oil, carbon deposits, colored spots on them may indicate that they are defective. In this case, there are two options for solving the problem. either clean the existing candles (for example, ignite them or clean them with fine sandpaper with a solvent) or replace them with new ones. The last option is the most preferable, since only it will help to find out for sure whether the candles are to blame for the malfunction or not.

It should be remembered that when replacing candles with new ones, all 4 candles should be replaced. This is done even if only one candle is out of order.

If during the check it turned out that everything is in order with the candles, then the high-voltage coil should be checked. It is easier to make it all by replacing it with a new, similar one. If the ignition coil (or rather the block) is working properly, then you should go to the diagnostics of the starter.

Checking the starter consists in its careful examination and control of the condition of the main elements. the degree of wear of the graphite brushes, brass bushings, etc. In addition, you should check the starter with a multimeter (tester), “ringing” it between one of the brushes and the armature. If the tester shows an open circuit, then there is a break in the winding and the part will have to be replaced.

Another reason why the VAZ 2114 does not start well on a cold injector may be a malfunction of the electronic control unit. It is extremely problematic to check it at home, since special diagnostic equipment will be required.

That is why you should either turn to the service to check the ECU or try to replace the unit with another one and try to start the car again. If the car starts right away, then the problem was in the block. In this case, you will either have to buy a new ECU or reflash an existing one (for this you also need to contact a car service).

We analyze the reasons why it is difficult to start on a cold injection VAZ 2114

Perhaps, many motorists faced such a problem that the VAZ 2114 does not start on a cold one or starts with great difficulty (moreover, this problem is typical not only for the 14th, but also for other AvtoVAZ models). It is not always possible to immediately find the cause of such a malfunction, because a variety of car systems can be “to blame” for it.

We will talk about how to quickly detect and eliminate such a nuisance in today’s article.

Other reasons

It would seem that the bulk of probable malfunctions have already been listed, as well as methods for their elimination. But it should be remembered that in addition to problems with the fuel system and electrics, other factors can also be the reasons for the poor “grip” of the engine. And the most common of these are bad fuel and the wrong oil.

So, if you notice that the car has begun to start badly when cold, then try refueling at other gas stations (preferably not just at others, but at gas stations from other companies). In some situations, this alone may be sufficient to solve the indicated problem. The same applies to oil.

If summer oil is used in cold weather, this can also lead to poor engine performance at the time of start. It is worth remembering this and always change the oil according to the current season.

Another source of trouble can be electronic sensors, and most often the crankshaft position sensor. It is he who transmits the information to the controller, on the basis of which the ignition and fuel injection are controlled. It is very easy to find out about its malfunction. in this case, the check engine icon on the dashboard will light up. In order to check the status of the sensor or replace it, you will have to contact the service department.

A faulty intake air volume sensor can be just as troublesome. Its breakdown can lead to serious problems with ignition up to the complete inability to start the car.

It is very easy to check this sensor with your own hands. you just need to turn it off and try to start the car. If you start it right the first time, then the problem was precisely in this sensor, and it will have to be changed to a new one.
